Analyse how the EYFS curriculum has evolved and also compare its structure with another curriculum of my choice being Te Whariki

This essay should all be constructed with the three parts of the LO’S.
Short description:
For the first part of the assessment LO1: you should analyse how the EYFS curriculum has evolved and also compare its structure with another curriculum of my choice being Te Whariki (the New Zealand early years curriculum).
For the second part of the assessment
LO2: the focus should be maintained only on the EYFS and should be discussed the use of assessment and the role of observation, taking into consideration ethical issues.
Lastly, in the third part LO3: It has to be focused on the EYFS and the other early childhood curriculum that I have chosen in part one being Te whariki, and the focus should be on inclusion issues in both curricula that may affect the assessment process.
Things that should be added also:
Link to pedagogy and theory.
Everything should be referenced.
Please red the guidance and follow the instruction.

Design a cycle of 5 integrated lessons in each language (Spanish & English) using the template

1. Read Biliteracy from the Start chapter 8 and 9 or 10 (The last two chapters present planning examples which will help you with the lesson plans. Chapter 9 presents an example from Kindergarten and 10 presents an example from grade 5. Please choose the chapter that fits the degree to which they teach).
2. Use the Literacy Squared Lesson Plan Template and work on the Yellow Highlighted sections. (USE this template to complete the English part of the 5 lesson plans). It should only be filling out the texts with the activities (They are highlighted).
3.Design a cycle of 5 integrated lessons in each language (Spanish & English) using the template (in total 10 lessons). — Writer will only do the lesson plans in English which are highlighted.

NOTE: In chapter 10, the author provides pictures of how the lesson activities can be by using texts. The template is originally for the 10 lessons (5 in English and 5 in Spanish). (See Chapter 10 for an example on how to fill out the template.) The lessons must be different but connect in both languages. Cannot translate the lesson from Spanish to English (They have to be different.) Please remember, the student would be stronger in Spanish when creating the lessons and please include books from (free website and grades 1-6).
Preference – 2 grade or 3rd grade & ELA subject. For the first lesson include a book. (They have to all connect with the big idea.) Leave links to the free books.

Critically analyse current issues impacting upon pupil achievement and well-being.

The assignment is in two parts.

Part One: 2000 words or equivalent. Create a resource to support teachers’ professional development in relation to two key current issues (there will inevitably be links to other issues within this). The resource should identify and critically evaluate how these issues impact upon pupil achievement and well-being.

Part Two: 1000 words. Based on the two issues considered in Part One, write a critical analysis, supported by a range of relevant and recently published wider reading, of your professional strengths and development needs. As part of this, you should consider and identify a range of strategies that you will use to enhance your professional development and understanding of these areas.
1. Critically analyse current issues impacting upon pupil achievement and well-being.

2. Critically analyse your professional strengths and development needs.

3. Identify strategies to enhance professional development.

Some advice when writing your assignment…
When writing the reflective piece, it may help you to think about your intent, how you will implement this and what you intend the impact to be.
In the reflective piece, it will help you to maintain focus and specificity by referring to key elements of the Teachers’ Standards.
When producing your training resource, ensure that the relevance of the issue in the context of the primary school is clear.
Carefully consider the relevance of wider reading sources based on their publication date. You also need to be critical in your choice of sources – consider credibility and relevance.
Carefully consider how you present your training resource, it should not be an essay spread over a number of PowerPoint slides. Think carefully about what would be successful in engaging an audience of busy primary school teachers.
It is important that you consider counter arguments related to the issues being discussed and you should question the validity of these.
In your training resource, consider the potential impact of the issues being explored on both children’s achievement and well-being.

Evaluate the strategy in terms of strengths and limitations. Would you use this in your own classroom?

Connecting theory and research to practice is a beneficial skill for teachers as they navigate their undergraduate studies. Read the article titled Mrs. Boyd’s Inclusive Classroom. Write a 2 page reflection on the following (25 points per section):

Paragraph 1: Provide an overview of the article. Why was Mrs. Boyd selected and what type of values and practice does she embody?

Paragraph 2: Choose one of the strategies in the Classroom Management section. Evaluate the strategy in terms of strengths and limitations. Would you use this in your own classroom?

Paragraph 3:Choose one of the strategies in the Instructional Methods section. Evaluate the strategy in terms of strengths and limitations. Would you use this in your own classroom?

Paragraph 4: Choose one of the strategies in the Teacher, Student, Parent Interaction section. Evaluate the strategy in terms of strengths and limitations. Would you use this in your own classroom?

Select an appropriate legal policy to lead equitable and ethical practices within educational organizations.

Identify and reflect on two elements of this course that are useful in your professional development and ability to:
• Formulate communication strategies to develop effective working relationships with professional colleagues, policymakers, and the community.
• Select an appropriate legal policy to lead equitable and ethical practices within educational organizations.

Discuss the way in which you can use conceptual and procedural variation to draw the children’s attention to the key ideas in this area of mathematics.

Mathematics: guidance MUST be adhered too:

50% of the module assignment

Please choose a small aspect of one area of mathematics to discuss. This might be an area you observed in school or one which we have covered in the module so far. The area of mathematics MUST RELATE TO NUMBER (select one from the list below).

For example you might consider a small part of:

Counting – say counting to ten

Place value –say exchanging ten ones for a ten, or ten tens for a hundred, or ten tenths for a one

Properties of number – say odd and even, or prime

Addition and subtraction – say the structures of addition, or subtraction, or the commutative law, or addition and subtraction to ten, or the column method or the link between addition and subtraction

Multiplication and division – say the structures of multiplication and division, or the commutative law for multiplication

Fractions – say equivalent fractions, or changing mixed numbers to improper fractions

It is important to choose a SMALL area to discuss IN DEPTH.

Once you have chosen your area, you must read widely around it. There are plenty of readings for you:

  • the subject knowledge books listed on your tracker
  • the readings scanned for you on the Curriculum and Pedagogy blackboard under Learning resources, mathematics

  • There are multiple copies of key books in the library, and many of these are available as e books. Use the reading list to help you. You will find this on the Curriculum and Pedagogy Blackboard under Learning resources, mathematics.

You must read about the actual area of mathematics you have chosen to discuss. For example, if you have chosen to discuss place value, you must refer to chapters on place value.

In your essay please follow this format:

  • Introduce the area you have chosen and what you hope to cover in the essay
  • Reflect on the key mathematical ideas that children will learn in this area in the Early Years or the primary curriculum. Refer briefly here to the EYFS framework or the National Curriculum, and in detail to your reading related to this area.
  • Reflect on how you want the children to understand these ideas. For example you might refer to the aims of the National Curriculum. When you discuss conceptual understanding you may refer to the theory of Skemp (which is on the primary maths blackboard under additional readings, readings for assignments). When you discuss fluency you may refer to the paper by Russell (which is on the primary maths blackboard under additional readings, readings on fluency.)
  • Identify the manipulatives and images which are used to represent these key ideas. If you wish, you can paste in pictures of these manipulatives and images. In this section refer to readings on manipulatives on the Primary Maths blackboard under additional readings.
  • Discuss the way in which you can use conceptual and procedural variation to draw the children’s attention to the key ideas in this area of mathematics. Refer to some of the readings on variation on the Primary Maths blackboard under the Mastery button. For example, you might want to paste in a picture of a series of examples to show how you might use procedural variation in your teaching.
  • Consider how to promote learning of this area of mathematics in another curriculum subject or area of learning.
  • Please conclude by reflecting on how the essay has helped to you develop your understanding and your progress against the Teachers’ Standards.

Throughout please ensure you are providing a critical reflection. You should refer to reading throughout your essay. REFLECT on ideas rather than just reporting them. BRING the ideas of more than one writer together to compare views and explore complexities. For example, what are the subtle differences between the ideas of Liebeck, Bruner, and Haylock and Cockburn on the use of manipulatives?

Explain how knowing this type of information can help you plan instruction to maximize the learning of all students.

Demographics and needs vary from state to state and district to district. Research the trends and prevalence of disability categories being served in your state and describe them to the class. Explain where you located this information and discuss what you can conclude about the needs of students in your state based upon this information. Explain how knowing this type of information can help you plan instruction to maximize the learning of all students. In replies to peers, discuss trends, or lack of trends, in the types of disability prevalence and explain why you think these similarities/differences occur from state to state.
