How P&G decided which brands to include in its multi-brand Super Bowl 2020 ad. what the risks are of combining brands in a single ad.

According to Ad Age contributor, Jack Neff, this year’s Super Bowl should have been called the Co-Op Bowl.[1]  The networks[2] airing the Super Bowl have traditionally not welcomed overt multi-brand ads; however, Super Bowl 2020 included a number of multi-brand ads, many featuring brands from competing parent companies, such as Kraft Heinz’ Planters and P&G’s Mr. Clean.

Your task:

  1. Research: Using reliable sources (more than one), find out.
    1. how P&G decided which brands to include in its multi-brand Super Bowl 2020 ad.
    2. what the risks are of combining brands in a single ad.
  1. Get Creative: Not using any of the brands featured in Super Bowl 2020 multi-brand ads:
    1. propose three brands from a single parent company (P&G, Kellogg, Mars, Unilever, Coca Cola, Mondelèz, just to name a few) to feature in a multi-brand ad.
    2. outline which of the three brands will be the featured brand.
    3. describe the creative situation, scenario, story or incident that will be dramatized by these brands.
    4. explain how you will protect the brand equity of each of the brands.
  1. Write: in an informal memo report, using graphic highlighting and headings:
    1. In the first part of the report, outline what you discovered via your research (P&G’s process; risks)
    2. In the second part of the report, walk me through your creative process, including all the requested information (Get Creative a, b, c, and d)
  1. Address the Informal Memo Report to me, and give me a title; give yourself a title as well
  2. Use headings, graphic highlighting, short, clear paragraphs, and white space to make your information easy to access.
  3. Include both a short introduction and conclusion.
  4. Cite all research used. Cite this research within the report, using either parenthetical citations (in either MLA or APA format) or foot/endnote citations (I’ve used footnotes here.), and include a full citation of each source in a Works Cited (MLA) OR a Bibliography (APA) OR in foot/endnotes (as done here).

FAIR WARNING:

  • If you don’t cite within the report, you’ll lose 10 points for each missing citation.
  • If you don’t include a full citation for each source used within the report (in a Works Cited or Bibliography at the end of the report OR in foot/endnotes), you’ll lose 10 points for each missing source. If you include only a URL, you will lose 25 points for each URL.
  • If you include no research at all, you’ll lose 50 points.

The point is, do your research and document it fully!

Write a 2-page paper summarizing a peer-reviewed journal article that describes an intervention for problem behavior maintained by the assigned function.

Write a 2-page paper summarizing a peer-reviewed journal article that describes an intervention for problem behavior maintained by the assigned function.

In the summary, in your own words, you should describe its purpose, rationale, method, results, and discussion.

For the last paragraph, you should ask question you would like your peers to discuss(respond) about:

  1. a) two questions you had about the article,
  2. b) and two open-ended questions.

Why did you choose this area for research (referenced to literature but also to personal experience if appropriate)?

Desk-based research guidelines

Word Count

  • The word count of the dissertation does not include the Reference List and Appendices.
  • Convention allows you up to 800 words on either side of the stipulated 8,000 words.
  • More or less, a penalty is applied or may constitute a fail.
Completion Schedule
  • The schedule for writing a dissertation is very demanding. If you miss a deadline you could find yourself in difficulties by the submission time. Be disciplined in your approach, write a research plan with time allocations.
  • Computer spell-checks should be used, but English spelling conventions must be maintained, rather than American. You will need to check that all words are correctly spelt and used eg. Have/of; practice/practise; there/their; our/are; won/one. Check that grammar and punctuation are correct.
  • It is not your supervisor’s responsibility to correct the final draft. Ask a friend to read it out loud to you and to comment on its coherence and content.
  • Never submit work for examination without reading it first. Read it out loud to yourself or ask a friend to proof-read. Mistakes are more easily identified by such practice. Do a final check from the last to first page – this is good proof-reading practice.
  • Keep a personal copy of all work submitted.

STRUCTURE OF THE DISSERTATION

This is a ‘model’ structure for Desk-based Education Research dissertations. Individual dissertations may vary in organisation only following negotiations between student and their supervisors. However, it is unlikely that a successful dissertation will deviate widely from this overall strategy.

Title Pages:
Front Cover

The front cover of your report must display:

  • The title of the project

(The title is important and, therefore, must be agreed with your supervisor.

  • The initial title should allow you to address one fundamental question and a minimum of three related ones.
  • The final title should be short, focused and invite attention)
  • The module code and title (ED6015: Education Studies)
  • Your Student ID
  • The Programme (BA Education Studies), the School (Cass School of Education and Communities) and the title of the University (University of East London)
Table of Contents
  • The titles of each section should be listed in chronological order and the page references provided.
  • Appendices are listed A, B, C etc., but pages do not have to be numbered.

Introduction/Purpose and Aims (Approximately 800 words)

  • This provides the reasons for the AREA of research, which you have selected. It should present the overall question which you set out to address.
  • The introduction provides a reference point for all subsequent writing and will be written mostly in the past tense, with occasional reference to the present.
  • It should be possible to read this section and to go straight to the Conclusion to gain a continuous understanding of the whole work and to be directed to different sections for additional information.
  • What do you want to find out and why (referenced to literature)?
  • Why did you choose this area for research (referenced to literature but also to personal experience if appropriate)?
  • How is your proposed research important; identify key issues and debates (referenced to literature)?
  • Briefly define specific terminology in relation to your research (referenced to literature)
  • What are the specific research questions?

Justify your investment positions based on the expected relative inflation rate between two nations.

Final Project
Overview
You are required at the end of the course to submit a final project in the form of a paper in which you assume the role of an investment manager investing for your clients’ funds in stock and foreign currencies, futures, options, oil, gold, silver, and other commodities based on profit sharing. For this final
research project, you are required to research the foreign currencies and select two foreign currencies as soon as possible after initial consultations with your mentor regarding what directions to pursue. You may use Yahoo Finance at http://finance.yahoo.com to find stocks or foreign currencies. Or you can use Bloomberg at (http://bloomberg.com/markets/currencies) for finding the major world currencies or news about the stocks, currencies, and economies.
Guidelines
You are required to research the foreign currencies and select two foreign currencies to invest in for the account of one of your clients who has given you $20,000.
Use $20,000 of your client’s account in the two foreign currencies which you have selected to invest in based on a margin of 2% which gives you a high leverage (50 to 1), meaning you can invest up to $1,000,000 or 50 times of your client’s balance either in currency spot market or currency futures. To keep things simple, use the currency spot market and you are recommended to choose two hard currencies such as the Euro, British Pound, Japanese Yen, Canadian Dollar, Australian Dollar, New Zealand Dollar, or Swiss Franc. The following are some more requirements for research project:
1. You may take a long or short position in each foreign currency or long position in one or short position on the other.

2. Justify your investment decisions based on a trend (uptrend or downtrend) analysis.

3. Justify your investment positions based on the relative inflation rate between two nations. For example, if the inflation rate is higher in the United States relative to the Euro Zone, all else equal, the Dollar would depreciate against the Euro.

4. Justify your investment positions based on the expected relative inflation rate between two nations. For example, if the inflation rate is expected to be higher in the United States relative to the Britain, all else equal, the Dollar would depreciate against the British Pound.

5. Justify your investment position based on the relative interest rate between two nations. For instance, if the Australian banks pay higher interest rate than the U.S. banks, investors or speculators would move their funds, all else equal or all other variables stay the same, to Australia to take advantage of the higher interest rate.

6. Similarly, you may justify your investment decisions based on expected interest rate between the

two nations. For example, when Investors expect higher interest rate in Canada, they would  invest in Canadian denominated assets that, in turn, would cause the Canadian Dollar to  appreciate, all other variables held fixed, .
7. You may justify your investment decisions based on some other macroeconomic or fundamental
analysis such as the unemployment rate, Gross Domestic Products, Trade Balance, and Capital
Flows that you have learned from the textbook or some other outside materials.
8. Select the two currencies in your portfolio which have negative correlations or a weak correlation  for the reduction of risk and risk management purpose.
9. Calculate your return for each investment and overall return.
10. Prepare your findings in an 8-page research report paper based on the APA format.
You will produce your final project in four different stages as part of your course work:
Stage 1
By the end of Module 1 you will inform your mentor which foreign currencies you are thinking of researching. Your mentor will help you with feedback regarding your choices and how to proceed with your research.
Stage 2
During Module 2 you will organize the information you have gathered into an interim report that you will share with your classmates and mentor during a synchronous event. Your mentor will coordinate arrangements for sharing your report and taking part in the discussion.
Stage 3
After participating in the Module 2 synchronous discussion forum and reflecting on any suggestions, advice, observations, etc., made by your classmates and mentor, you will decide on which foreign currencies you would like to invest (choose two hard currencies). You will update your interim report to include this choice and a brief explanation regarding why you have selected these particular foreign currencies. You will submit the updated interim report to your mentor for grading at the end of Module 3. During Module 3 you will also participate in a second synchronous event during which you will have the opportunity to discuss your final project further.
Stage 4
By the end of Module 4 you will complete and submit your final project paper.
If you have questions about the requirements of the final project, be sure to discuss them with your mentor well in advance of the final submission. Consult the Course Calendar for the due dale.

Discuss the financial, economic, regulatory, sociopolitical, and technological factors as they relate to a dynamic business environment.

BMGT 110 – Project 2:  Current Event Paper

Purpose

The purpose of this project is for you to demonstrate an understanding of current events and their effect on management, management processes and operations.

Outcome Met with This Project

· Discuss the financial, economic, regulatory, sociopolitical, and technological factors as they relate to a dynamic business environment.

How to Set Up the Paper

Create a Word or Rich Text Format (RTF) document that is double-spaced using Times Roman New 12-point font.  The final product will be 3 -4 pages in length excluding the title page and reference page.  Write clearly and concisely.

Create a Title page with a title for the paper, course number, your name and the instructor’s name.

Course Materials and Research

This project requires you to research.  You will first research using the U.S. Census Bureau to extract information related to the U.S. trade position.  You are expected to address the requirements in the template below, using course materials and research to support the reasoning.  Note that using course materials and reference articles goes beyond defining terms but clearly and thoroughly explains the ‘why and how’ of a situation.  Avoid merely making statements but close the loop of the discussion by explaining how something happens or why something happens, which focuses on importance and impact.  In closing the loop, you will demonstrate the ability to think clearly and rationally showing an understanding of the logical connections between the course materials, your reference articles and the question(s) being asked.

Use the following template using the headings to separate elements.  Create a new paragraph for each bulleted item below.  Do not use bullets in your paper as the required format is in narrative format with indented paragraph and no extra space between paragraphs.

Introduction

· Write an Introduction paragraph.  The Introduction paragraph is the first paragraph of the paper and will be used to describe to the reader the intent of the paper explaining the main points covered in the paper.  This intent should be understood prior to reading the remainder of the paper so the reader knows exactly what is being covered in the paper.

· Consider writing the introduction last to ensure that the main points are covered.

Foreign Trade

· Using the U.S. Census Bureau, identify the export, import and total trade amounts for the United States for the last reported quarter/year end.

· Calculate the balance of trade and discuss the results.

· Explain how imports and exports affect the US economy.

Trade with China

Currently, China has tariffs in place on approximately $110 billion of U.S. products.  The tariffs range from 5%-25% and are placed on products that include soybeans, beef, pork, seafood, vegetables, liquefied natural gas, whiskey and ethanol. On August 1, 2019, the Trump administration announced that it planned to levy tariffs of 10% on over $300 billion of Chinese imports.

Answer the following requirements:

· Using the U.S. Census Bureau, identify the U.S. export and import totals with China for the last reported quarter and explain what these amounts mean for the U.S.

· Explain how has Trump’s trade protectionism impacted businesses in China?  Make sure to include examples.

· Explain how Trump’s trade protectionism has impacted other countries?  Make sure to include examples.

Conclusion

· Create a concluding paragraph.  The Conclusion summarizes the main topics discussed in the paper.

References

· The reference page is on a separate page from the report.  The reference page is completed according to APA with each reference left-justified with hanging indentation for subsequent lines.  References are completed in alphabetical order.  Please see the module, Learn to Use APA to ensure references are in APA format.

· A reference should appear under the reference section for each in-text citation in the paper.  A reference may not exist without the associated in-text citation and vice versa.

Review the Paper

Read the paper to ensure all required elements are present.

The following are specific requirements that you will follow.  Use the checklist to mark off that you have followed each specific requirement.

Checklist Specific Project Requirements
  Proofread your paper
Read and use the grading rubric while completing the paper to ensure all requirements are met that will lead to the highest possible grade.
Third person writing is required.  Third person means that there are no words such as “I, me, my, we, or us” (first person writing), nor is there use of “you or your” (second person writing).  If uncertain how to write in the third person, view this link:  http://www.quickanddirtytips.com/education/grammar/first-second-and-third-person.
Contractions are not used in business writing, so do not use them.
Paraphrase and do not use direct quotations.  Paraphrase means you do not use more than four consecutive words from a source document.  Removing quotation marks and citing is inappropriate.  Instead put a passage from a source document into your own words and attribute the passage to the source document.  There should be no passages with quotation marks.  Using more than four consecutive words from a source document would require direct quotation marks.  Changing words from a passage does not exclude the passage from having quotation marks.   If more than four consecutive words are used from source documents, this material will not be included in the grade.
You are expected to use the research and weekly course materials to develop the analysis and support the reasoning.   There should be a robust use of the course material.  Material used from a source document must be cited and referenced.  A reference within a reference list cannot exist without an associated in-text citation and vice versa.  Changing words from a passage does not exclude the passage from having quotation marks.
Use in-text citations and provide a reference list that contains the reference associated with each in-text citation.
You may not use books in completing this problem set unless part of the course material.  Also, do not use a dictionary, Wikipedia or Investopedia or similar sources.
Provide the page or paragraph number in every in-text citation presented.  Since the eBook does not have page numbers, include the chapter title and topic heading.  If using a video, provide the minutes and second of the cited material.

Submit the paper in the Assignment Folder (The assignment submitted to the Assignment Folder will be considered the student’s final product and therefore ready for grading by the instructor.  It is incumbent upon the student to verify the assignment is the correct submission.  No exceptions will be considered by the instructor).

Self-Plagiarism: Self-plagiarism is the act of reusing significant, identical or nearly identical portions of one’s own work.  You cannot re-use any portion of a paper or other graded work that was submitted to another class even if you are retaking this course.   You also will not reuse any portion of previously submitted work in this class.  A zero will be assigned to the assignment if self-plagiarized.  Faculty do not have the discretion to accept self-plagiarized work.

NOTE:  All submitted work is to be your original work. You may not use any work from another student, the Internet or an online clearinghouse.  You are expected to understand the Academic Dishonesty and Plagiarism Policy and know that it is your responsibility to learn about instructor and general academic expectations with regard to proper citation of sources as specified in the APA Publication Manual, 6th Ed. (Students are held accountable for in-text citations and an associated reference list only).

Evaluate your focus child as a language user. Discuss how your subject knowledge enables you to understand and analyze how the child uses language in the situations observed.

Need to go through all of learning material to do coursework, and look at previous coursework and it’s feedback.

Part 1: Language and literacy learning (around 1500 words)
Part 1 of the English Workbook is an assessed portfolio of evidence in which you demonstrate your learning and development, and the application of your subject knowledge in an educational context.

Complete Sections 1, 2 and 4 and selected elements of Section 3. Follow the instructions in the TMA 03 English Workbook to help you to decide the areas you will focus on.

The grading of Part 1 of your workbook will be a reflection of the research you carry out to improve and apply your English subject knowledge.

Part 1 of the English Workbook is worth 50% of your overall mark for TMA 03.

Part 2: A portrait of a child as a language user (1000 words)
Evaluate your focus child as a language user. Discuss how your subject knowledge enables you to understand and analyze how the child uses language in the situations observed.

This part of the assignment is based on your observations of a child as the child develops as a reader, writer, speaker and listener. Ideally you will be observing a child in an educational setting, but if this is not possible, use the Block 3 practice-setting audio/video materials. Drawing on the observations you made of your focus child and on your Block 3 learning, evaluate your focus child in ONE of the following areas:

the child’s oral language (speaking and listening)
the child as a reader
the child as a writer.
Although you are asked to focus on just one area of language use, you are free to comment on other areas (for example, if your focus is on writing you may wish to refer to a discussion the child has – with an adult or other child(ren) – which aids their planning or reflection). Further detailed guidance about writing Part 2 of TMA 03 is included in the English Workbook.

Part 2 is worth 50% of your overall mark for TMA 03.

Part 3: Academic language and learning checklist and Marking grid
Complete the Academic language and learning checklist in Part 3. Leave the unaltered Marking grid in your workbook. Your checklist and grid do not form part of the word count for TMA 03.

Explain how your student is doing, changes or adjustments you have had to make, etc. Your reflections should demonstrate your thoughtful analysis of what you are doing each day.

PLEASE FOLLOW THE STEPS ONE AFTER THE OTHER:
1.Baseline Data Collection: candidates collect baseline data for the social behavior indentified for a minimum of one week with a minimum of five data points.
1a. The data should clearly indicate that the behavior, if left without intervention, will continue.
1b. In addition to recording data candidates will also keep a reflective journal of their experiences daily for a minimum of 5 days.
1c. Explain what the student is doing, the intensity of the behavior, your thoughts on how the proposed intervention will change the behavior or whether the behavior intervention should be modified.
2. Provide a defensible stability statement. Write a statement of stability (state how baseline data was collected and if the behavior was consistent). This shows that the targeted behavior is continuous. Data collected should be 40 minutes a day, for five days and should consist of the percentage of completion for each assignment.
3. Intervention Implementation. You will collect Intervention Data for a minimum of five data points. Implement intervention (continuing to plot data daily, refer back to graphs on how to chart your data when beginning the data collection with intervention implemented). In addition to recording your data candidates will also keep a reflective journal of your experience daily for a minimum of 5 days. Explain how your student is doing, changes or adjustments you have had to make, etc. Your reflections should demonstrate your thoughtful analysis of what you are doing each day.
4. There should be a line graph demonstrating the data collected in both baseline and intervention for the five days each.
