Provide two key points and two challenges to consider when helping a system bridge the gap with technology initiatives. Discuss why you believe helping people bridge the gap is important from a Biblical perspective.

Bridging the Gap

Many education leaders would agree that technology innovation continues to drive new ideas within educational systems (Moore & Diehl, 2018). Educational systems are responding to workforce needs to prepare their students to be successful for the future (Moore & Diehl, 2018). Rogers (2003) discusses that not everyone will buy into innovative ideas right away. For this discussion you will need to provide two key points and two challenges to consider when helping a system bridge the gap with technology initiatives. You will also need to discuss why you believe helping people bridge the gap is important from a Biblical perspective.

Write an exemplary essay or a descriptive-narrative essay that integrates elements of description and narrative.

Identify one person, experience, or event and share in detail how this has influenced you and helped you become who you are today. Remember to include descriptive and narrative elements as well as dialogue. This narrative-description essay should consist, at a minimum, of the following paragraphs:

1. Introduction – introduces the beginning of the story you are telling and foreshadows with an implied thesis statement what it will be about.
2. Body Paragraph 1: Key Event 1 – narrate the first key event and describe why this was important and how it influenced you.
3. Body Paragraph 2: Key Event 2 – narrate the second key event and describe why this was important and how it influenced you.
4. Body Paragraph 3: Key Event 3 – narrate the third key event and describe why this was important and how it influenced you.
5. Body Paragraph 4: Key Event 4 – narrate the fourth key event and describe why this was important and how it influenced you.
6. Conclusion – summarize the impact of this person, event, or experience and tie up loose ends to provide closure for your reader.

NOTE: While it can be tempting to leave your reader with a moral, consider if that is necessary. Generally speaking, stories allow us to arrive at our own conclusions, and you want to consider doing so. Answer the following questions: Is the moral of my story clear? (If you answered ‘yes,’ then do you really need to add it?) If it is not clear, why is it important that I add the moral of the story, or is it okay for my readers to arrive at their own conclusion?

Digital Media Literacy and Strategies to Improve Comprehension

For this work, you are going to focus on comparing our own beliefs to those of Chris Tovani. Develop a main response in which you address the following: Your own students may feel overwhelmed while watching a video and therefore, may miss important information. One strategy that can be useful in focusing students on ideas while viewing a video is to have them keep two-column notes during a viewing or to jot down thoughts under specific headings (Tovani). Students can also fold a paper into 4 equal parts with headings that guide what they need to look/listen for. Either notetaking can be created in a digital format depending on your students’ ability and the school’s resources. You will be using the 4 heading technique while watching “No Magic Formula.” In “No Magic Formula” Tovani shares four guiding principles for teaching reading comprehension:

Selecting quality texts Modeling thinking Setting a purpose Providing options for students to hold their thinking

For this work, you will be examining these principles in-depth.

Divide a paper/page into four boxes. At the top of each box type in one of Tovani’s guiding principles as listed above. Jot down examples of each as you view the films, along with questions and thoughts about them.

In your initial post share which one of Tovani’s principles resonated with you the most and why as a teacher. Then use the Signposts for Nonfiction on page 89 in Disrupting Thinking to comment on the similarities and differences between the strategies Tovani discusses and those presented by Beers & Probst. Can they work together?

Summarize the legislation by “teaching” this legislation to the class using a visual. After consulting at least 3 sources to research, design your own visual.

Education Law Project Visual

You will be provided with key pieces of legislation/cases that have had an impact on American education (a choice menu by theme/topic is here (Links to an external site.)). You will summarize the legislation by “teaching” this legislation to the class using a visual. After consulting at least 3 sources to research your case, you will design your own visual that includes the (1) name of the case; (2) year of the case; (3) context/decision of the case; (4) a link to and 1-2 sentence summary of a recent (the more recent the better, but ideally within the past 5-10 years) news article that takes the themes from the case you researched and puts them into a current context; and (5) citations of your 3 sources. You can use the program of your choice to create your visual (a single Google Slide/PPT slide is recommended), which you will post on a class
