Discuss an example of when you lead a change initiative at your campus. Identify and apply a change management model to the experience, describing how its application might assist with leadership challenges.
Using the module readings, summarize each of the five models of change management. Discuss the pros and cons of each model in relation to its application to a higher education setting. In conclusion, identify the model you feel is most appropriate to apply to change management in higher education settings and provide a rationale for its selection.
The SLP assignments for this course ask you to review a case study from Community College Leadership: A Multidimensional Model for Leading Change by Eddy (2010).
Review the case study “Changing Image and Culture: Rogue Community College,” located in Appendix B on pages 183 – 185. Respond to the following questions:
• New presidents face the challenge of getting to know their campus and honoring previous traditions, while at the same time needing to place their own mark with their leadership. As a new president, what steps would you take to shift the “maverick” culture?
• What steps are necessary to bring together the founding faculty members, who may miss the shoot-from-the-hip style of leadership? What is the role of governance in the change process?
• How would you develop a communication plan to support your change in focus?
• Which of the 5 change management models might be appropriate to consider in this case?
• In conclusion, how might this case study reflect your own experience as an educational leader? Or, discuss how consideration of this case is useful in your development as an educational leader.
A quantitative study can be based on an experimental design, where a treatment is administered to one group and then compared to a control group. A qualitative study can be based on participants’ answers to interview questions. And a mixed methods study may have elements of both, applied to the same group of participants sequentially. With any methodology, the design must adhere to the requirements in the appropriate checklist. This week, you examine a doctoral study and evaluate it based on the correct checklist.

1. Johnson (2006) reminds us “that a great deal of trouble surrounds issues of privilege, power, and difference in this society, trouble relating to gender and race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, disability status, social class” (p. vii). Discuss these issues as it relates to diversity in education. Also, how can the readings we have completed so far this semester inform your practices when teaching in your field?
2. Discuss the available strategies to achieve social change and explain why it is not possible to claim sympathy for social change but not be actively involved it.
3. Describe one of the most important concepts, notions, or ideas that you have learned in this diversity course and explain how this concept may impact your current employment, future academic studies, or future educational research. Support your answer with a minimum of one citation from one of the course’s required texts and one citation from an academic journal.
The essay should include an introduction with some contextual details and definitions if needed and outlines the intention of the assignment. The main body which addresses the question. A summary of the key points made and concluding points.

Create a PowerPoint presentation (minimum 10 slides) that demonstrates the use of professional guidelines and tools that create a strategy for dealing with an ethical dilemma in a simulated case study. Analyze the usefulness of those guidelines and tools.
This assignment requires the participant to select, read and critique a research study or educational article on some area of play theory, creativity or aesthetics in early childhood education. During the search for an appropriate study, it is hoped that students will learn about the many types of professional journals available in the university library and the information they contain.

Persuasive Research Paper: write a final paper of at least five pages (These five pages do not include the title page, abstract, or reference pages. These elements must be part of the position paper, but are not included in the page count.). The paper must be developed as a position statement on an important topic/issue to the field of early childhood education. Possible topics, directions, and examples of how position papers make a clear statement, and how a position paper is supported by research will be discussed in class. Participants are required to use APA style guide, 7th edition, to format and cite sources.
