Provide the town/city name, name of the facility, type of the facility, specifics about what services the facility provides. Were you surprised at what you found? If so, why? Do you think there are sufficient services for your community? Why or why not?

What Are Your Community Healthcare Resources?

If you are like most, you are likely more familiar with the traditional acute inpatient hospital. Yet, with the renewed emphasis on community healthcare, it is just as likely you will need services as an outpatient.  The optional text has a nice visual of this.

Provide a review of local community healthcare resources.

Include the following aspects in the assignment:

  • Use several resources (phone book, Windshield survey, internet, etc.) to create a thorough list of non-hospital healthcare facilities in your community.
  • Provide the town/city name, name of the facility, type of the facility, specifics about what services the facility provides.
  • Were you surprised at what you found? If so, why?
  • Do you think there are sufficient services for your community? Why or why not?
  • Did you find an underrepresented area (without mental health, walk-in, low-income/free clinic, women’s health, Planned Parenthood, Senior Citizen Center).
  • Why do you think these facilities are not represented in your area?
  • Make a simple chart with columns for each required section. Answer the final questions under the chart as Q& A.
  • Cite any references. Proper grammar, sentence structure, and spelling are required. Use your own words. Copying and pasting are not allowed.

Create a comprehensive care coordination implementation model for a primary care practice. What would be the key elements required for such a plan?

DISCUSSION ESSAY

Create a comprehensive care coordination implementation model for a primary care practice. What would be the key elements required for such a plan? The paper gives examples of both broad and specific activities that would be required to improve care coordination activities. The model should provide enough detail that any provider can get a full, comprehensive picture of the care the patient has received and needs. The AHRQ website has valuable information on creating such a model.

Identify political issues in the scenario. Discuss how you would effectively and ethically handle the situation.

Political Health Care Issues

Instructions:

In this unit, you will identify and evaluate the political health care issue facing healthcare administrators. In a 1-page summary, you will identify political issues in the scenario below and discuss how you would effectively and ethically handle the situation. Include two (2) academic references and submit your assignment in APA format.

Scenario: You are the healthcare administrator of a nursing home. You are informed by your Admissions Director that a new memory-impaired resident has been admitted into your long-term care unit. The staff is concerned about the involvement of family with your resident. Family members from out-of-town arrived and expressed concern about your resident’s do not resuscitate (DNR) orders which were authorized by the Power of Attorney of another family member. A quarrel erupts in the nursing home with family members voicing their opinions loudly. You arrive on the scene and are immediately told by the visiting family member, “Do you know who I am? I am a supervisor for the Department of Health and Human Services and will not hesitate to have your facility surveyed for noncompliance.” What do you do?

Requirements:

Identify political issues in the scenario.
Discuss how you would effectively and ethically handle the situation.
Include two (2) academic references.

Demonstrate a critical awareness of safe and ethical ultrasound practice aligned to national9. Critically reflect on, and evaluate your own professional practice and case management in ultrasound examination in the context of current research and new developments.

Critically evaluate the role of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in the diagnosis of Upper limb problems

Details of the assessment task(s):
• This critical written account evaluates the use of MSK ultrasound in the Upper limb. In this assignment you are required to discuss the uses and limitations of ultrasound based on the critical evaluation of current and relevant literature. Work should cover a description of ultrasound findings, diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of common pathologies of the Upper limb. This should include but is not limited to: medical and ethical considerations and the implications for patient management.

1. Clinical indications/justification for scanning (do not spend too long on this section but include enough detail to illustrate clinical indications for scanning and which conditions can be scanned).

2. Relevant ultrasound anatomy, e.g. location, size, shape, appearance/characteristics (this should not be a description of scanning protocol, more an understanding of relevant anatomical on ultrasound).

3. Interpretation of pathological findings (these findings will allow you to show a level of understanding of the changes that are seen and how these correlate to a range of diagnoses – this should be supported by critical evaluation of current literature).

4. Clinical/management implications of findings (show clearly how ultrasound imaging findings may investigations).

5. Critique of ultrasound practices and limitations of ultrasound (demonstrate your skills in critical thinking by reflecting on the importance of diagnostic confidence by understanding the benefits
and limitations of ultrasound – this again should be supported by critical evaluation of the current literature).

8. Demonstrate a critical awareness of safe and ethical ultrasound practice aligned to national9. Critically reflect on, and evaluate your own professional practice and case management in
ultrasound examination in the context of current research and new developments.

Explain the issue so the reader can make sense of the topic. Describe the implications of the issue. Discuss why it is important to explore the topic.

DISCUSSION ESSAY

The final project for this course will require you to explore a health care technology hazard that has been identified as a threat to patient safety and write a white paper on it. A white paper is a government or authoritative report that provides information on an issue and proposes a solution. You will develop the different components of the white paper throughout the course and compile them into one cohesive paper in Module 7.
For this assignment, you will create the first part of your patient safety white paper, by selecting a patient safety topic and writing the introduction. The purpose of the introduction is to establish what your topic is, generate interest in it, and provide necessary background information regarding the topic along with a preview of the rest of the paper.

Follow the steps below to complete this assignment.
Select a patient safety topic from the ECRI Executive Brief: Top 10 Health Technology Hazards or ECRI Executive Brief: Top 10 Patient Safety Concerns (see attached files).
The non-clinicians in the course may find it easeier to choose a topic from the Technology Hazards list as you may not have the experience in the clinical patient arena to relate to.

Write the “Introduction” section of your white paper. Your introduction should:
Establish the context of the patient safety issue:
Provide general information about the patient safety issue.
Summarize the present order of things and why it is a problem.
Explain the issue so the reader can make sense of the topic.
Describe the implications of the issue.
Discuss why it is important to explore the topic.
Preview the rest of the paper:
State the purpose of the paper.
Tell the reader what to expect with the rest of the paper.
