Chapter 1: Ethics Issue

Instructions
Complete the following assignment. Keeping in mind that you will need to defend your answers. When completing case studies and questions you should have at least 3-5 complete sentences. After completing the assignment you will need to attach your completed work below.

What are the top 5 cities for infected cases? How many infected cases do each of those cities have? What is the prevalence rate per 100,000 people? What else can be deduced after evaluating the chart?

Case by City and Ages Impacted Report

Every health care organization collects data from its patients, and with access to this data comes the responsibility of securing and using data in applications that are ethical, legal, and with studied outcomes. While organizational health information management supports many of these responsibilities, the decision makers ultimately shape an organization and its future. In this assessment, you analyze the data provided and consider its potential impact in the scenario.

Part I: Cases by City

Read the following scenario:

Data has been collected to identify specific cases of people who are infected with a dangerous virus. Your organization has an interest in knowing where the population is most affected in an effort to move resources to areas that need them.

Create a bar chart using Microsoft Excel® and the data provided in the Cases by City spreadsheet to identify the cities with the highest counts of cases.

Write a 525- to 700-word analysis of the data. Include an answer to the following questions:

What are the top 5 cities for infected cases?
How many infected cases do each of those cities have?
What is the prevalence rate per 100,000 people?
What else can be deduced after evaluating the chart?

Include your bar chart with the analysis.

Part II: Ages Impacted

Now that we know where the outbreaks are located, your organization wants to know more about who it affects. The age of the patient will determine what kind of resources will be needed in those areas.

Create a side-by-side bar graph using Microsoft Excel® and the data provided in the Ages Impacted spreadsheet to identify the age groups affected by the virus.

Note: This information will be used for further analysis in future assessments.

Write a 525- to 700-word analysis of the data. Include an answer to the following questions:

Which age groups are most affected?
Which age groups are least affected?
What is the prevalence rate per age demographic?
What else can be deduced after evaluating the chart?

Project management plan (PMP)

Your assignment for this module is to begin the next phase of your project management plan (PMP), which is called the planning phase. As part of the project plan phase, you will continue to function as the project manager. As such, you are responsible for drafting the WBS (Work Breakdown Structure), sometimes called the “Work Plan” of the project. After you have completed your Work Breakdown Structure and have it approved by the course instructor, you will insert the information into your Project Management Plan template. To assist you in understanding the various implementation components, review the following online module provided by the American Medical Association (AMA) EHR implementation: https://www.stepsforward.org/modules/ehr-implementation.

After reviewing the project work plan video and the assigned project management text readings, you will draft your WBS. Using the supplied Project Management Plan Click for more options template, go to the section entitled: “Work Break down Structure.” Fill in each section of this area. This includes: milestones, phases, activities, tasks, effort, and resources. Your WBS is based in part upon information from the case provided in Module 2 and any information you obtain from your instructor.

Case Study: (Use this project case study to fill out your PMP document).
The Waverly Family Health services has decided to implement an electronic health record (EHR). They have decided to implement a web-based EHR called Practice Fusion

You will need to review the website to understand about the product. You may sign up for free access to their product to learn more and answer questions you might have about the product (see also provided youtube videos about Practice Fusion).

The clinic has no prior experience implementing an EHR, but they feel assured they can accomplish a web install and system conversion (migrating from paper charts to digital content) using the skill of their staff and providers. Hardware is already provided. The following is baseline information on the clinic and project resource allocation:

Budget
The clinic acquired a small business development loan on their American Express Card business account in the amount of $40,000.00 for the entire project. This includes all startup costs, labor, training, and “unforeseen costs.”

Staff
The following is a breakdown of staff who will need EHR access and new hardware to run the EHR:
Dr. Waverly, clinic owner and medical director (*Key stakeholder)
Dr. Jones, physician and clinic partner (*Key stakeholder)
Mrs. Johnson, physician’s assistant (will function as project team member)
Mrs. Wright, MSN, NP, nurse practitioner [Project team member (has previous EHR install experience)]
Mrs. Jones, clinic director (*Key stakeholder)
Ms. Felps, front office clerk (Project team member)
Ms. Smith MA, back office medical assistant (Project team member)
Mr. Lawrence, clinic accounts and billing [Project team member (has I.T experience)]
You have 6 months to complete the project.

Environment Assessment Information:
The clinic has a high speed T-line, which provides internet access with Wi-Fi access throughout the clinic. There is ample hardware throughout the clinic. Each clinic exam room (there are 4) has a workstation consisting of a Dell “all-in-one” desktop with 8GB of ram and Intel i7 processor, and a 23-inch screen. The units are wall mounted and the monitor is on an articulated arm allowing the patient to see the screen when the clinician wants to share information. Each of the Medical Assistants (MAs), front office clerk, biller and directors have similar work stations. The workstation configurations meet the minimum standards for utilizing the web-based EHR.

Remember, it is your responsibility to ask for additional information in order to formulate your WBS. Part of your WBS is a Gantt chart that reflects time sequence of project phases with important events or tasks. Using the supplied Excel template, Click for more options fill in the areas that reflect your WBS plan. This template will be placed in the project plan template schedule section when completed.
