What is the current economic situation for UCCO? What suggestions can Barbara make to help mitigate financial issues? What type of electronic record system should Barbara recommend for the company? What is her best option? What are the financial implications? Explain the choice based on what the system can provide in comparison to the organizational challenges?

Module 02 Project – Analysis

Top of Form

Barbara receives an email from her manager asking about the progress of the strategic plan. The manager informs Barbara that UCCO is wanting to implement a new electronic health record (EHR), to improve the overall process of providing quality patient care; and organizational challenges. After her discussion, Barbara realizes that she would need to complete a situational analysis. By performing a situational analysis, planners can help anticipate and manage change. Understanding the internal and external environment is also critical to an effective strategic plan. For the external environment, planners look at opportunities and threats. For the internal environment, planners look at strengths and weaknesses.

For this project assignment on UCCO, complete a minimum of a 1-2 page report and two SWOT tables to describe key opportunities, threats, strengths, and weaknesses in selecting an electronic record system. Your written report should address the following concepts:

Visit the Rasmussen online Library and search for a minimum of 2 articles covering the topics of electronic health record implementation. Conduct academic research using the library’s databases, like:

    • CINAHL
    • Discovery
    • Business Source Complete via EBSCO
    • Business via ProQuest
    • What is the current economic situation for UCCO? What suggestions can Barbara make to help mitigate financial issues? Use the financial review provided in the UCCO case.
    • What type of electronic record system should Barbara recommend for the company? What is her best option? What are the financial implications? Explain the choice based on what the system can provide in comparison to the organizational challenges?

What are the various multidisciplinary departments (teams) included in your facilities? Who comprise the target population being served by the various programs provided by your chosen facilities? What are the major staffing and human resource issues faced by your chosen facilities?

Week 3 Project

Assume you are responsible for the management and administration of the two facilities. You have to orient the newly appointed manager by providing an overview on managing long-term care. You also need to discuss the programs of the two facilities. From this perspective and based on your research about the facilities, prepare a Microsoft Word document including the following:

What are the various multidisciplinary departments (teams) included in your facilities?
Who comprise the target population being served by the various programs provided by your chosen facilities?
What are the major staffing and human resource issues faced by your chosen facilities?
What are the significant trends in long-term care likely to impact the operation of the various programs provided by your chosen facilities, and what is your plan of action to overcome them?
What are the various forms of cooperation and integration existing in your chosen facilities? Discuss the nature of management, financing, and quality issues related to integration and cooperation in the facilities?

Review the case study assignment for this module and complete the Symptom Analysis Evaluation (SAE) Sections using the template. Identify history questions to be obtained to discriminate critical characteristics of the presenting chief complaint.

Symptom Analysis Evaluation Assignment Instructions

Overview

Review the case study assignment for this module and complete the Symptom Analysis Evaluation (SAE) Sections using the template. The first SAE assignment is an individual assignment. The second SAE is a group assignment. Remember to use at least five references and appropriate APA in-text citations and reference lists.

Instructions

  1. Health History/History of Present Illness: Identify history questions to be obtained to discriminate critical characteristics of the presenting chief complaint (symptom). Incorporate COLDSPA (Characteristics, Onset, Lingering, Duration, Stressors, Precipitating factors/triggers, Alleviating factors).

  1. Differential Diagnosis: Delineate 4 differential diagnoses that could support the chief complaint and HPI. The differential diagnosis must support the above symptoms in relation to pertinent answers given in the history. Must use appropriate DSM 5 diagnosis and provide rationale for each choice differential diagnosis base on the presenting case.

  1. Mental Status Examination: Delineate mental status exam findings would be associated with each listed differential diagnosis. Document the subjective data that the patient might have reported.  Use all component of MSE listed- Appearance, Behavior, Speech, Affect, Thought process, Thought content, Insight, Judgement, Cognitive examination (level of awareness, Attention and Concentration, Memory, Orientation etc.). Must support with literature and use the appropriate descriptors in each component. Avoid using “normal” or “Good” as a descriptor.

  1. Pathophysiology: Delineate the neurophysiology, pathophysiology and etiology of each of the 4 differential diagnoses.
  2. Diagnostic Testing: Delineate what diagnostic tests would you obtain to rule out medical issues that mimic each of the differential diagnosis and mental health screening tools.
  3. Analysis: Delineate your final assessment along with rationale. Identify the primary diagnosis from the 4 differential diagnoses and support with the DSM 5. Discuss why the other differential diagnosis are less likely for the case.
  4. Treatment Plan: Delineate appropriate treatment plan (pharmacotherapy and non-pharmacotherapy) for the primary diagnosis.

Provide an overview of basic project management skills using an electronic health record (EHR) implementation and expose you to fundamentals of EHR implementation.

Project management plan (PMP)

Your assignment for this module is to begin the first phase of your project management plan (PMP) called the Initiation Phase. As the Project Manager, you are responsible to define, draft, and manage the various document sections in the provided below. Each module, you will have project management activities related to several sections of your project plan. The purpose is to provide you with an overview of basic project management skills using an electronic health record (EHR) implementation and expose you to fundamentals of EHR implementation.

A health care professional wants to determine the systolic blood pressure of individuals with hypertension who take Atenolol. Thirty such individuals have an average systolic blood pressure of 105, with a sample standard deviation of 23. Find the 95% confidence interval for mean systolic blood pressure for hypertensive individuals who take Atenolol.

Computing Confidence

In the following exercises, you will compute confidence intervals using Excel. You will submit a single Excel file that includes your results for all of the exercises. For each exercise, please include the output from Toolpak (or whatever tool you are using), and make sure that you clearly show the following:

Confidence level
Whether you should use a normal distribution or t-distribution
Confidence interval in interval form, i.e., (lower bound, upper bound)
Confidence interval in margin of error form, i.e., sample mean ± margin of error.

Exercise#1: A health care professional wants to determine the systolic blood pressure of individuals with hypertension who take Atenolol. Thirty such individuals have an average systolic blood pressure of 105, with a sample standard deviation of 23. Find the 95% confidence interval for mean systolic blood pressure for hypertensive individuals who take Atenolol.

Exercise#2: In a study of the effectiveness of a certain anxiolytic on individuals experiencing panic attacks, out of a 120-person sample, 85 reported a decrease in panic attack frequency. Find the 95% confidence interval for the proportion of patients who experienced a reduction in panic attacks while on the anxiolytic.

Exercise#3: The following is a list of hospital stay durations, in days, of 16 new mothers after cesarean deliveries:

3, 4, 7, 3, 2, 3, 2, 1, 5, 4, 4, 8, 1, 3, 4, 6

Using this sample data, find the 98% confidence interval for the mean duration of post-cesarean hospital stay.

Exercise#4: A camp director is interested in the mean number of letters each child sends during his or her camp session. The population standard deviation is known to be 2.5. A survey of 20 campers is taken. The mean from the sample is 7.9. Find the 99% confidence interval for the mean number of letters.
