To what extent did Napoleon protect the rights brought by the French Revolution?

Basically you have to write an intro, three paragraphs arguing that napoleon did or did not protect the rights (for men) brought by the french revolution. have either two paragraphs arguing he protected the rights and one paragraph for he didn’t or the other way round.

These are some rights that my teacher mentioned. By rights it is meant for mostly males but if you want you could talk about rights for females too.
Rights to consider from revolution:
• Women’s rights (NOTE: not really championed by French Revolution, only lightly addressed by some Enlightenment thinkers)
• Class rights
• Abolition of feudalism
• Abolition of Slavery
• Freedom of religion (conscience)
• Freedom of speech
• Freedom of press
• Right to fair and speedy trial
• Universal male suffrage or the franchise (=universal male voting from age of 25)

If you can do three examples per body paragraph. for instance if you do one paragraph based on the political stuff then have three examples in the paragraph.

Explain the importance of the Battle of Bunker Hill

The Battle of Bunker Hill was one of the bloodiest battles of the Revolutionary War. In this short battle, the British lost over 1,000 troops while the Patriots had around 400 casualties.

Major Point 1: Prevented the British from advancing

A. Previous battles made the British victory at Bunker Hill not worth it

B. Patriots secured the area and it was used for training grounds

C. Kept the British soldiers from gaining new land and becoming even stronger

Major Point 2: Helped the Patriots become more organized and learn new strategies

A. While they put up a good fight the patriots were still not very well trained. This battle helped them realize what would be expected for them to win the war

B. Americans learned how they could use land to their advantage since they were outnumbered

C. Made them aware that proper training and working together could give them a better chance of winning

Major Point 3: Showed that the Patriots had a chance of winning the war
A. The battle ended in a British victory, but made some of the patriots optimistic

B. Gave the patriots momentum in the war to keep fighting

C. The battle caused a great amount of British casualties giving the Americans an advantage in that region

Conclusion: The Battle of Bunker Hill was not very long, but played a very big role in the Revolutionary War. The outcome of it made many things clear and ultimately showed the Americans had a fair chance in the war.

Critique the kinds of evidence and sources the author provides

Half of the assignment’s points will be given for turning in an honest attempt at the assignment (one paragraph “blurbs” do not count), with the remainder being given for thoroughness and thoughtfulness in reflecting on the article you are covering.

In writing a précis, you should:

Summarize the author’s argument. What is their article about, and what interpretation of the subject matter are they offering?
Connect the article with material in the Foner textbook or primary sources. How does the article enhance your understanding of some of the themes from the secondary readings (this might include larger historical context or changes to American foreign policy, civil rights, gender relations, etc.) or the document discussions from class? Cite your sources appropriately with a page number or document title.
Do at least one of the following (being thorough here is what divides 80% from 90% and 100% papers):
Discuss how and why this article challenges an earlier interpretation of history.
Analyze how this article relates to one or more of the other articles we have read this semester.
Critique the kinds of evidence and sources the author provides—are there additional sources or perspectives that would make the argument better or provide a more complefktte picture of their subject?

The student will write a ten page double spaced typed research paper with a minimum of ten sources (excluding dictionaries, encyclopedias, and internet sources). Half of the sources must be primary sources. The paper should answer an intellectually challenging question about a specific topic concerning the history of WWI. The paper should contain either endnotes or footnotes following the guidelines in The Chicago Manual of Style. The student must use citations when he directly quotes a source, uses an idea from a source, or cites obscure information. Failure to properly cite sources may be considered plagiarism and could lead to no credit for the study, along with the possibility of other disciplinary action.
