Explain the role of local law enforcement (LE) in combating terrorism. What unique advantage(s) might local LE have to help in counter-terrorism efforts?

As part of the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 and the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal building in Oklahoma City in April, 1995, researchers and law enforcement officials have come to recognize the need for effective coordinated efforts in the fight against terrorism. Major situations such as a terrorist attack that require the needed services of various emergency agencies and other support services must have a well-coordinated crisis response system. Knowing what resources are needed during a crisis helps allow for better coordination and execution of such services when needed. Note: A crisis response plan typically is a multi-agency written plan to coordinate the response of the multitude of agencies expected at big events. Such agencies may include law enforcement, fire departments, federal agencies, hospitals, and so on.

Write a 1,200-word paper about how Long/Short Term Orientation and Indulgence/Restraint affect you relating with people in another culture of your choice . Discuss how the cultural differences affect communication, motivation, and teamwork. Use the culture that you chose to study throughout the course. In addition to Hofstede et al. Include a short introduction and conclusion to the paper and a reference page. I highly recommend the country specific Culture Smart books. Use APA citations. See grading rubric.

Use the Hofstede Insights website software to compare the United States to another culture in all six dimensions. Graph the cultural dimensions using the software. Use a screen shot and post the picture to your document.

It could be from your cultural heritage. Or it could be a place you plan or want to go to in the future. You will use this same country in all your papers. Make sure the country is one that Hofstede covers. If not, see me about some possible alternatives.
Describe the differences or similarities between the United States and your chosen country for the LTO and IVR dimensions. Are your chosen country and the US high, low, or near the middle? I like to think of them in quintiles: very high, moderately high, middle, moderately low, and very low.
Using the tables in the Hofstede et al. (2010) chapters, find six specific things that might affect communication, motivation, and teamwork. One item for each area per cultural dimension. How would you promote the similarities or mitigate the differences?

The prosecutor is getting feedback from local law enforcement officers explaining that they are discouraged from making arrests in cases of domestic violence and child abuse. They claim that they have been neither making arrests in domestic violence situations nor arresting both parties when they go out on a call. It seems that abused women often go back to the abusers, and children who get removed from the homes where they have been abused often return after removal. These occurrences have been especially demoralizing to law enforcement.
