Financial Management for the Supply Chain Professional – Video Critique

A critique is an analytical essay on a video, in which you give your opinion on the aesthetic quality of the video and then give your reasons for your opinion. Do not limit yourself to reacting to the video (“I loved it !”) and do not use generic terms like “incredible,” “wonderful,” “marvelous,” etc. Unlike a review, you assume that the reader has already seen the video; you do not need to give an extensive plot summary; you do not need to hide plot information so as not to spoil the surprise of the viewer, and you do need to be consistently analytical and critical.

Your first paragraph should summarize the film’s plot and act as a transition to the analytical part of the essay.

The second paragraph should explain how the Supply Chain concepts for the week were depicted by the film and why the depiction was or was not meaningful. What Supply Chain lessons were learned? What suggestions might you give to the role players to effectuate different and perhaps more satisfying (or even prosperous) results?

Identify the steps required in designing a logistics network around a one-warehouse infrastructure. Discuss these steps from a strategic SCM level and associate these steps with possible issues at the operational and tactical level that the supply chain manager must think about when designing a logistics network around a one-warehouse facility.

Designing a Logistics Network Around a One Warehouse Infrastructure Constraint

Write a 4 page paper that describes how you would design a logistics network consisting of only one warehouse. In the discussion, include the steps you need to take in order to design the optimal network. Identify the information and data is needed to make this determination. Also identify the strategy that will be employed in this network.

Utilize the following outline:

1. Introduction
Introduce the concept of logistics network design and why it is an important aspect of supply chain management. Discuss what a typical logistics network consists of (such as suppliers, manufacturers, production facilities, distribution centers, ect). Identify that not all business that produce products are capable of having such an in depth logistics network. Finish the introduction with a thesis statement that explores how a supply chain manager would design a logistics network around a supply chain infrastructure that consisted of only one warehouse. Ensure to include identifying the necessary steps required to design the network; determining the information and data needed to make an informed decision about the network; and identifying an optimal employment strategy that will ensure network sustainability into the statement.

2. Steps in Designing an Optimal Logistics Network
Identify the steps required in designing a logistics network around a one-warehouse infrastructure. Discuss these steps from a strategic SCM level and associate these steps with possible issues at the operational and tactical level that the supply chain manager must think about when designing a logistics network around a one-warehouse facility.

3. Information and Data Requirements
Discuss some of the information and data required to design a logistics network around a one-warehouse facility (e.g. storage specifications, inventory specs and historical levels, lead time, and costs. Also discuss how a supply chain manager can obtain this information. (ERP, inventory policy, ect).

4. Employment Strategy
Discuss how to employ an optimal logistics network design strategy focused around a one-warehouse facility. Generalize the layout of the facility and how a product will flow throught it. Also discuss the importance of monitoring these aspects and how to monitor them as well.

What advantages can logistic clusters provide to enterprises’ supply chain operations, and what conditions must exist for these benefits to be realised?

Logistic Clusters: Excelling the Logistic Management of Coyote Logistics’ Operations in Northern Europe

The following report discusses logistic cluster (LC) theory and then applies it to the case of Croatian wind turbine producer KONČAR KET Group, through their subsidiary KONČAR – Renewable Energy Sources Ltd. and KONČAR – Power Plant and Electric Traction Engineering Inc. (Abbreviated KONČAR throughout the report), which commissioned Coyote Logistics Ltd. to conduct an analysis of the benefits of LCs as well as the setup and discussion of KONČAR’s new supply chain (SC) operations based in the LC of Øresund. KONČAR is advised to establish their manufacturing SC in Øresund owing to the high degree of logistic cluster benefits (LCB) associated with especially favourable factor circumstances and a robust network of nodes within connected and supporting sectors. The latter combination of a strong logistics cluster and a wind-mill manufacturing industrial cluster demonstrates that Øresund would not only be the biggest LC for KONČARs’ nordic supply chain operations, but also one of the top LC sites in the global SC of KONČAR.

II.I PROBLEM STATEMENT

III.I.I RESEARCH QUESTION
The following research questions have been identified to address the issue statement:

Q1: What advantages can logistic clusters provide to enterprises’ supply chain operations, and what conditions must exist for these benefits to be realised?

Q2: How, where, and why should KONČAR establish its supply chain operations in Denmark in preparation for expanding in the Northern European market, and how do the various Northern European logistic clusters compare?

Q3: How does the selected Danish logistic cluster compare to and distinguish itself from possible supply chain migrations to the Vancouver and Shenzhen logistic clusters?
