DISCUSS THREE THINGS you learned from reading the book you did not previously know related to management. Explain each one in some detail, including examples. Discuss why each one is important to know or be aware of as a manager. How will each one help you be a better manager?

1. Ben Franklin's 12 Rules of Management, by Blaine McCormick.

This book reviews the life of Ben Franklin not as a politician but as a business manager. Franklin was one of the most influential and successful business owners in Colonial America. He was so successful that he could retire at the age of 42 to pursue other interests, including politics. The principles that he followed to success are still applicable today. A lot can be gained about a principled approach to managing businesses from reading this book. This book is highly recommended, especially for anyone who may someday want to run their own business.

2. Write a 5-7 paper covering the following:

a. INTRODUCTION (a statement of the purpose of the paper and what will be covered)

b. A SUMMARY of the book: What is the book's purpose, how is the subject covered, and what are the key points in the book.

c. DISCUSS THREE THINGS you learned from reading the book you did not previously know related to management. Explain each one in some detail, including examples. Discuss why each one is important to know or be aware of as a manager. How will each one help you be a better manager?

d. A SUMMARY of the paper-a brief (one or two paragraphs) summary restating the key learning points, your learnings, and their importance.

The paper should have a cover page and an abstract. This paper does not require additional outside references except for a reference page for the book reviewed.

How does promotion relate to the other Ps (product, price, and place) and to buyer behavior?

Select two Fortune 500 companies (Links to an external site.) that target substantially different customer groups. For example, one firm may target Generation Z consumers and another firm may target consumers from the Silent Generation.
Research the promotional efforts of each firm and outline key aspects of how each firm promotes its products or services.
Critical Thinking Conversation

In terms of the 4 Ps, please explain the concept of promotions in your own words.
How does promotion relate to the other Ps (product, price, and place) and to buyer behavior?
Regarding the two Fortune 500 companies you selected, please compare and contrast how the companies use promotions. What are the similarities? What are the differences? How does each firm’s use of promotions contribute to that firm’s success?

Formatting
The body of your APA-formatted report must be at least 500 words. An abstract is not required. Your report should include a cover page, cited references, and must include the following:

Introduction: The introduction should introduce the topic to readers or provide enough background information so readers can understand the context of the paper. Although introductions should be included, do not use the heading, Introduction. The beginning is assumed to be the introduction.
Overview: Summarize the concept of promotion and its positive impact on organizations and consumers. Provide a general overview of how promotional efforts can add value to organizations and consumers.
Critical Thinking Conversation: Respond to the Critical Thinking Conversation. Start by sharing an overview of the two companies you selected.
Debrief: Share your thoughts, opinions, and analysis based on your research. Please include reasonable assumptions that can be made about the different uses of promotions based on a firm’s target market and consumer behavior. (Do not use first or second-person pronouns.)
Conclusion: The conclusion should revisit key points or perhaps discuss future implications of the topics discussed in the paper. Using the heading, Conclusion, signals to readers that the document is ending. (1)

Research and write a literature review on a SUPPLY CONTRACTS (Marketing/Supply Chain).

Literature Review Instructions

The purpose of this research project is to create a scholarly piece of graduate-level research and writing, which conforms to current APA format. Competency in the 7th ed APA format is required.
Research and write a literature review on a SUPPLY CONTRACTS (Marketing/Supply Chain). You will have approximately 7 modules/weeks to research and write the paper. Do not “recycle” any work from any previous assignments. The research paper will be a comprehensive thematic review of the scholarly literature related to your topic.

What is a literature review?

“A literature review discusses published information in a particular subject area, and sometimes information in a particular subject area within a certain time period.

A literature review can be just a simple summary of the sources, but it usually has an organizational pattern and combines both summary and synthesis. A summary is a recap of the important information of the source, but a synthesis is a re-organization, or a reshuffling, of that information. It might give a new interpretation of old material or combine new with old interpretations. Or it might trace the intellectual progression of the field, including major debates. And depending on the situation, the literature review may evaluate the sources and advise the reader on the most pertinent or relevant.”

How is a literature review different from an academic research paper?

“The main focus of an academic research paper is to develop a new argument, and a research paper will contain a literature review as one of its parts. In a research paper, you use the literature as a foundation and as support for a new insight that you contribute. The focus of a literature review, however, is to summarize and synthesize the arguments and ideas of others without adding new contributions.” The academic research paper also covers a range of sources, but it is usually a select number of sources, because the emphasis is on the argument. Likewise, a literature review can also have an “argument,” but it is not as important as covering a number of sources. In short, an academic research paper and a literature review contain some of the same elements. In fact, many academic research papers will contain a literature review section. But it is the aspect of the study (the argument or the sources) that is emphasized that determines what type of document it is.

Why write literature reviews?

“Literature reviews provide you with a handy guide to a particular topic. If you have limited time to conduct research, literature reviews can give you an overview or act as a stepping stone. For professionals, they are useful reports that keep them up to date with what is current in the field. For scholars, the depth and breadth of the literature review emphasizes the credibility of the writer in his or her field. Literature reviews also provide a solid background for a research paper’s investigation. Comprehensive knowledge of the literature of the field is essential to most research papers.”

What is the format for literature reviews?

“Just like most academic papers, literature reviews also must contain at least three basic elements: an introduction or background information section; the body of the review containing the discussion of sources; and, finally, a conclusion and/or recommendations section to end the paper.

  • Introduction: Gives a quick idea of the topic of the literature review, such as the central theme or organizational pattern.
  • Body: Contains your discussion of sources and is organized thematically.
  • Conclusions/Recommendations: Discuss what you have drawn from reviewing literature so far. Where might the discussion proceed?”

What is a thematic literature review?

“Thematic reviews of literature are organized around a topic or issue, rather than the progression of time.”

“Sometimes, though, you might need to add additional sections that are necessary for your study, but do not fit in the organizational strategy of the body. What other sections you include in the body is up to you. Put in only what is necessary. Here are a few other sections you might want to consider:

  • Current Situation: Information necessary to understand the topic or focus of the literature review.
  • History: The chronological progression of the field, the literature, or an idea that is necessary to understand the literature review, if the body of the literature review is not already a chronology.
  • Methods and/or Standards: The criteria you used to select the sources in your literature review or the way in which you present your information. For instance, you might explain that your review includes only peer-reviewed articles and journals.
  • Questions for Further Research: What questions about the field has the review sparked? How will you further your research as a result of the review?”

This section is required and must be included in the paper.

  • This section of the literature review is where you integrate faith and learning in this course. Must connect to Every Good Endeavor: Connecting Your Work to God’s Work,” write a 3–5-page section that integrates the Genesis model, i.e., the creation-fall-redemption-consummation framework, with the learning objectives of this course. Conclude with how your integration may be used for furthering God’s purposes for business on earth.

Important Points to INCLUDE

The paper is to be written in strict conformance to current APA standards, and must contain at abstract and a minimum of 12 scholarly references.
