Develop a marketing plan for and a SWOT based argument for why it warrants marketing investment

What to Do
This week, you will be creating components of your capstone marketing plan assignment. You will then finish your plan in Week 5.
Using the company you selected for your marketing manager internship, you will complete a situation analysis with the goal of identifying a new product/service to develop your marketing plan against.
How to Do it
Create a minimum 750 word APA style formatted Word document that includes at least 1 scholarly resource from Ashford’s online library in addition to the course text.
The Scholarly, Peer Reviewed, and Other Credible Sources table (Links to an external site.) offers additional guidance on appropriate source types. If you have questions about whether a specific source is appropriate for this assignment, please contact your instructor. Your instructor has the final say about the appropriateness of a specific source for a particular assignment.
Your document should contain paragraphs that cover the following topics:
A description of your selected company/brand
The core products/services they offer
A brief history
Key current competitors
A SWOT analysis
The product or service line you want to develop a marketing plan for and a SWOT based argument for why it warrants marketing investment
Please see our sample situational analysisPreview the document (completed for McDonald’s) for more details, including minimum lengths by topic.
What Should I Market?
The focus of your marketing plan can be a new product/service idea of your own or an existing product/service that you think deserves its own dedicated campaign. Just don’t pick something that you’ve already seen being actively marketed.
For example, after completing a SWOT analysis for McDonald’s, one might propose marketing new concepts like a Mcie burgerVegg or an adult happy meal. Further afield, one might propose a whole new chain of pay to visit indoor McPlayground Centers. Or, relative to existing offerings, one might suggest a dedicated marketing campaign for say “burgers at breakfast” or after midnight snacking via the drive thru.
Lean about your brand and then let your imagination run wild. It can be a big idea that will appeal to many of their customers or a very targeted effort. You decide. You can always adjust your idea after getting instructor feedback.

What else can you learn from the trade show Web sites besides information about the trade show itself?

Activity 2: Market Research (100 points)

As you learned, the three “Ts” of marketing (trade shows, trade publications, and trade associations) can be used to research information about your competition.  However, they can also be helpful in providing information about a business concept’s feasibility.  In this Activity, you will perform market research for a new nanotechnology product using the three “Ts” of marketing.  Your Activity responses should be both grammatically and mechanically correct, and formatted in the same fashion as the Activity itself.  If there is a Part A, your response should identify a Part A, etc.  In addition, you must appropriately cite all resources used in your response and document in a bibliography using APA style. (100 points)  (A 4-page response is required for the combination of Parts A and B.)

Part A       Examine a nanotechnology product by researching relevant trade shows, trade publications, and trade associations.  Create an annotated bibliography of resources that includes a minimum of four (4) trade shows, four (4) trade publications, and two (2) trade associations that provides useful information about the nanotech product.  Be sure to include details about each event/activity/organization/publication (online and in print), etc.  Organize the annotated bibliography into the three (3) distinct sections (shows, publications, and associations) and for each section, include a statement explaining why this research is important when learning about the nanotechnology industry and competing companies and products.

Part B        State the conclusions you have drawn after performing this market research activity and acquiring new nanotechnology industry, company, and product knowledge. Specifically address the following issues:

  1. What else can you learn from the trade show Web sites besides information about the trade show itself?
  2. What else can you learn from trade publications?
  3. What benefits can you obtain from trade associations?
  4. From a revenue perspective, why is researching the 3T’s important?

Describe the effect of the company’s pricing strategy to the overall success of the company.

Create the second part of your marketing analysis, in which you do the following:
Accurately identify where the product is sold.
Accurately detail the chosen product’s distribution channels.
How is the company getting its product to market?
What distribution strategies are being used to effectively create a competitive advantage?
Provide an evaluation of place strategies and place’s effect on business success.
Describe how the company’s distribution decisions affect the other Ps in the marketing mix.
What can you recommend in terms of the company’s distribution decisions that may improve business success?
Accurately define the pricing system, along with its characteristics and effect on the marketing mix.
What pricing strategy is the company using, and how does its strategy compare to similar products in the product category?
Evaluate the pricing strategy in your analysis. How does it affect the other areas of the marketing mix? How does the company’s chosen pricing strategy affect the economic success of the company?
Describe the effect of the company’s pricing strategy to the overall success of the company.
Describe how the company’s pricing decisions affect the other Ps in the marketing mix.
Cite any resources you use.

Discuss any enhancements that you would make. Show your points with supportive photographs and drawings.

Assess ONE (1) complete online task (after the sign-in stage) of ordering a meal to be delivered to a particular address with that app. Your assessment should be based on human-computer interaction. Describe the flow of tasks in the app, identify the good design features and explain any shortcomings of the app. Propose human factors design changes and discuss any enhancements that you would make. Show your points with supportive photographs and drawings.

Scenarios/Questions (choose one)

1. In acute care, a charge nurse is assigned to oversee a unit, and a nursing supervisor oversees the nursing role across a facility. All work together to control the flow of patients in and out of the unit and facility, make staffing assignments, and assist with problems and crises. Consider this situation: A nurse is dealing with a crisis for one patient and misses a second patient crisis—a young woman who died from a postoperative hemorrhage. In this tragic situation, competing crisis events on the unit prevented a nurse from adequately monitoring other assigned patients on the unit. The charge nurse and nursing supervisor stated in the Board of Nursing’s investigation of the event that they depended on the individual nurse to alert them if help was needed.

Question: Describe a systems-based solution that could have prevented this event. (DO NOT state what the nurse should have done differently; you are to describe a systems-based solution, not a personal, professional one.)
