What is the purpose of a technique chart? Describe how exposure factors: kvp, mAs, and exposure times are calculated. Describe any modifications necessary when a technique chart fails to produce adequate density due to patient’s size or condition.

Technique Chart Assignment Discussion

Many times a technique chart will come with the purchase of a new radiology machine, however, it may not be based on the same type of film and screens that are being used in your hospital. Perhaps the machine is older and the technique chart has long since been misplaced, “the dog ate it”, or it experienced some other fate. There are many situations where you may be asked to create a technique chart as a quick reference. The use of a technique chart will increase the chances of getting the best quality radiograph on the first exposure and prevent retakes and additional radiation exposure.

For this assignment, you will discuss the formulation of a technique chart and post to the discussion drop box.

1. What is the purpose of a technique chart?
2. List the factors that influence a technique chart.
3. List the elements required for a technique chart formulation.
4. Describe how exposure factors: kvp, mAs, and exposure times are calculated.
5. When is a grid figured into the calculation?
6. Describe any modifications necessary when a technique chart fails to produce adequate density due to patient’s size or condition.
7. References
8. Grammar/spelling

Is it different from the first article or the same?)
-Explain how you know the type of method used.
-Explain the research design (was it Experiential, Quasi Experimental, Case Study? Was it different from that in the first article or the same?)
-What supportive evidence was used and how does it differ from the first article?
