Most people find them shocking, and thank goodness we’re done with them.
This was an “art form” that unfortunately represented the United States pre-Civil War and was widely accepted in the U.S.
Groups toured, and we brought this unsavory Show to Europe and also performed in the White House.
You might never feel the same about Stephen Foster songs after reading learning about Minstrel Shows.
