Explain why you think the patient presented the symptoms described. Identify the genes that may be associated with the development of the disease. Explain the process of immunosuppression and the effect it has on body systems.

Assignment: Case Study Analysis Altered Physiology

Scenario for the case study;

A 49-year-old patient with rheumatoid arthritis comes into the clinic with a chief complaint of a fever. Patient’s current medications include atorvastatin 40 mg at night, methotrexate 10 mg po every Friday morning and prednisone 5 mg program. He states that he has had a fever up to 101 degrees F for about a week and admits to chills and sweats. He says he has had more fatigue than usual and reports some chest pain associated with coughing. He admits to having occasional episodes of hemoptysis. He works as a grain inspector at a large farm cooperative. After extensive work-up, the patient was diagnosed with Invasive aspergillosis. Module 1 Assignment: Case Study Analysis An understanding of cells and cell behavior is a critically important component of disease diagnosis and treatment. But some diseases can be complex in nature, with a variety of factors and circumstances impacting their emergence and severity. Effective disease analysis often requires an understanding that goes beyond isolated cell behavior. Genes, the environments in which cell processes operate, the impact of patient characteristics, and racial and ethnic variables all can have an important impact. Photo Credit: Getty Images/Hero Images An understanding of the signals and symptoms of alterations in cellular processes is a critical step in the diagnosis and treatment of many diseases. For APRNs, this understanding can also help educate patients and guide them through their treatment plans. In this Assignment, you examine a case study and analyze the symptoms presented. You identify cell, gene, and/or process elements that may be factors in the diagnosis, and you explain the implications to patient health. To prepare: assigned to a specific case study for this Case Study Assignment.

The Assignment (1- to 2-page case study analysis)

Develop a 1- to 2-page case study analysis in which you:

Explain why you think the patient presented the symptoms described.

Identify the genes that may be associated with the development of the disease.

Explain the process of immunosuppression and the effect it has on body systems.

Include a title page, introduction, summary, and references.

Identify the various resources available for retaining staff, establish a clear benchmark and design a specific plan of action for reversing this trend.

Developing and Implementing a plan

You have been appointed to chair a hospital-wide committee to develop and implement a plan to retain new nursing staff. Your Chief Nursing Officer has provided you with a summary report indicating a steady increase in new nurses resigning over the last six months. You will need to identify the various resources available for retaining staff, establish a clear benchmark and design a specific plan of action for reversing this trend. Your focus is to implement a plan to retain newly hired nurses for a minimum of 3 years.

How do you get certified and licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in your state? What is the application process for certification in your state? What is your state’s board of nursing website?

Practice agreements in the state of Massachusetts

Locate and review the practice agreements in the state in which you plan to practice, (Massachusetts)

Identify potential collaboration requirements in your state, and understand the certification and licensing process that you will need to follow.

To Prepare:
• Review practice agreements in your state.Massachusetts
• Identify whether your state requires physician collaboration or supervision for nurse practitioners, and if so, what those requirements are.
• Research the following:

  • How do you get certified and licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in your state?
  • What is the application process for certification in your state?
  • What is your state’s board of nursing website?
  •  How does your state define the scope of practice of a nurse practitioner?
  •  What is included in your state practice agreement?
  •  How do you get a DEA license?
  •  Does your state have a prescription monitoring program (PMP)?
  •  How does your state describe a nurse practitioner’s controlled-substance prescriptive authority, and what nurse practitioner drug schedules are nurse practitioners authorized to prescribe?

Post a summary of your findings on your state based on the questions listed above. Explain the types of regulations that exist and the barriers that may impact nurse practitioner independent practice in your state. Be specific. Also, describe what surprised you from your research.

Describe the data that could be used and how the data might be collected and accessed. What knowledge might be derived from that data? How would a nurse leader use clinical reasoning and judgment in the formation of knowledge from this experience?

Discussion Post for Nursing Informatics course

Informatics Discussion Post 1

Create a 2 paragraph Discussion Post, that will be used as a continuation for the next assignment due. It is very important that you review the reference material I have provided, and you will consider a scenario that would benefit from access to data and how such access could facilitate both problem-solving and knowledge formation. The paper instruction provided were the following:

In the modern era, there are few professions that do not to some extent rely on data. Stockbrokers rely on market data to advise clients on financial matters. Meteorologists rely on weather data to forecast weather conditions, while realtors rely on data to advise on the purchase and sale of property. In these and other cases, data not only helps solve problems, but adds to the practitioner’s and the discipline’s body of knowledge.

Of course, the nursing profession also relies heavily on data. The field of nursing informatics aims to make sure nurses have access to the appropriate date to solve healthcare problems, make decisions in the interest of patients, and add to knowledge.

In this Discussion, you will consider a scenario that would benefit from access to data and how such access could facilitate both problem-solving and knowledge formation.

To Prepare:

  • Reflect on the concepts of informatics and knowledge work as presented in the Resources.
  • Consider a hypothetical scenario based on your own healthcare practice or organization that would require or benefit from the access/collection and application of data. Your scenario may involve a patient, staff, or management problem or gap.

Post a description of the focus of your scenario. Describe the data that could be used and how the data might be collected and accessed. What knowledge might be derived from that data? How would a nurse leader use clinical reasoning and judgment in the formation of knowledge from this experience?

I am including a APA Reference list and will also separately email you a video that is relevant to this discussion post and that was provided to me as material needed for this discussion post.  There is a lot of references, and the discussion post only needs to cite 3 references, but it must be at least 3. If you use anything outside of the list, please provide the APAP reference. Also I am uploading a PDF file of the textbook that is in the reference list and the relevant material for this paper.

Optimize the allocation of respiratory care services by Prescribing to each patient treatments likely to confer benefits and avoiding those that do not.

RES 403: Module 1–Response

A requirement for an RTDP to be successful is that the protocol should be evidence-based practices and that respiratory care services are effective and can offer benefits to patients. In this regard, the coal of respiratory care protocols is to optimize the allocation of respiratory care services by Prescribing to each patient treatments likely to confer benefits and avoiding those that do not.

Consistency among RCPs is crucial for positive outcomes of RTDP. Physicians must be able to trust that the care provided under protocols is safe for their patients. They must trust that all respiratory therapists can consistently and intelligently follow the protocols! RCPs should have knowledge of anatomic alterations of the lungs caused by common respiratory diseases, major pathophysiologic mechanisms activated in the cardiopulmonary system, common clinical manifestations that result from pathophysiologic mechanisms, and treatment modalities used to correct the clinical manifestations.

Protocols improve the allocation of respiratory resources by reducing misallocations such as over-ordering, reducing costs, and the care the patients receive will be enhanced by providing quality care. RCPs play an important role in the prevention and management of respiratory diseases. RTDPs help facilitate effective management of the care patients receive, in turn creating positive outcomes.

Case Study

The hospice nurse sat with Ann’s husband, Ben. Ann was resting quietly as the increased dosage of IV pain medication gradually reached its therapeutic level. Ben turned his head and slowly turned, looking out the room’s only window. As he glanced up, a small flicker of light caught his breath. It was a shooting star. A tear fell from the corner of his eye and he turned to Ann. The nurse sensed that something significant to Ann and Ben was unfolding. Shuffling to Ann’s bedside, he took her small fragile hand in his. These hands had rocked cradles, burped babies, and groomed the horses she loved to ride. Gently holding her hand, he turned to the nurse. “She would ride like the wind was chasing her.” Looking back to Ann his voice broke; choking back tears “Ann, Ann I saw Jessie…Jessie is calling.” Ben turned “Jessie was our daughter. She died having a baby that was too big. When she died it was a pitch-black night. Cold, so cold, the baby died too, a little boy, named him Abe, Jr. after Jessie’s husband. I took Ann outside so she could cry to God above and there in this dark sky we saw two falling stars…together…just falling. We knew it had to be Jessie and Abe…two angels to light up the night.” Ben turned back as a deep sigh escaped from Ann’s lips. A soft smile remained as she joined Jessie and Abe.

Based on this case study how would the nurse actualize Parse’s theory of Human Becoming?
What are characteristics of a human becoming nurse? What are strengths and weaknesses to this theory of nursing?
What challenges exist for healthcare institutions to switch to this nursing approach?
How might Parse’s understanding of transcendence guide the nurse, as Ann’s death became a reality to Ben?
From the nursing theories we have discussed, what additional theory would you apply to this case study? Develop a plan of care to include both nursing theories (be specific and provide reasons)
