One of the main components of nursing assignments is recognising how your learning will impact your nursing practice.
Analysis- when you delve deeper into a topic and begin to, based on your knowledge and evidence suggest what might be going on.

What is the population being studied? What is the target population? Does the sample represent the population of interest? Do the authors discuss the sampling method used for this study? If so, what is it? If not, based on your reading, what kind of sampling method do you think was used?

N/A discussion board post

For this module, we will be discussing sampling methods in nursing research.
Find a nursing research article on a topic of interest to you. It may be an article from your recent EBP/PICO paper literature search or an article you are interesting in using a critique later in the course. Share the article with the rest of us by either providing a link to the article or attaching a PDF copy to your post.

After reviewing the article, discuss the sampling methods used by answering these questions:

  1. What is the population being studied?
  2. What is the target population?
  3. Does the sample represent the population of interest?
  4. Do the authors discuss the sampling method used for this study? If so, what is it? If not, based on your reading, what kind of sampling method do you think was used?

Start with a statement of the problem and objective for the study, which articulates the main objectives that the study desires to achieve. Include a description of the theoretical framework to be utilized and a rationale for choosing a framework. Describe the significance and relevance of the problem. Why is this particular study needed? How will findings contribute to the field of advanced practice nursing? Why is this research needed?

Advanced practice nursing

Your research proposal must include the following sections:

  • Background and rationale for the study
  • Review of the relevant literature
  • Design and methodology
  • You must include the following components:

Section One: Introduction

The research proposal should:

Start with a statement of the problem and objective for the study, which articulates the main objectives that the study desires to achieve.
Include a description of the theoretical framework to be utilized and a rationale for choosing a framework.
Describe the significance and relevance of the problem. Why is this particular study needed? How will findings contribute to the field of advanced practice nursing? Why is this research needed?

Section Two: Literature Review

The literature review should:

Be a synthesis of the major concepts from recently published research findings.
Be organized by themes and not just a report about what each author discovered in his or her research findings.
Identify no fewer than six relevant research articles.
Synthesize the literature in relation to where the study fits within the context of the proposed study.

Section Three: Design and Methodology

In this section, what is to be done, and who, what, how, and where are all to be included in your proposal. The methods should be relevant to the question that is to be answered as a result of the research study. There should be information included about the study design, the setting and sample, data collection methods, and data collection analysis procedures. Ethical considerations should also be addressed in this area. Limitations and a plan for communicating the research findings should also be included in this section.

Review the public health data that were used to determine the response to the pandemic. Which data would need to be collected to assess the outcomes of the pandemic response?

Public Health Informatics and COVID-19

Imagine that you are a Public Health Informatics specialist and that you and your colleagues are concerned about the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Review the public health data that were used to determine the response to the pandemic. Which data would need to be collected to assess the outcomes of the pandemic response?

Write your thesis statements in the form of complete, declarative sentences. Select the thesis statement that makes the most “sense” to you, that you are most intrigued by, and that you think would supply the basis for the most interesting research paper.

Fill out this grid with four possible thesis statements, reflecting these four categories, and submit your responses to the discussion board.

Select one of these thesis statements, and write a rough outline for a possible persuasive research paper on your topic.

Helpful tips:

Write your thesis statements in the form of complete, declarative sentences. Avoid bullet points, sentence fragments, and questions.

For your outline, select the thesis statement that makes the most “sense” to you, that you are most intrigued by, and that you think would supply the basis for the most interesting research paper.

When organizing the main points of your outline, employ the principles of moving from general to specific information, from least interesting observations to most interesting observations, and from common knowledge to less familiar aspects of your topic.

What details did the patient provide regarding their chief complaint and symptomology to derive your differential diagnosis? What is the duration and severity of their symptoms? How are their symptoms impacting their functioning in life? What observations did you make during the psychiatric assessment?

WEEK 4 Sergeant Berry Sullivan Training Video 21

Subjective: What details did the patient provide regarding their chief complaint and symptomology to derive your differential diagnosis? What is the duration and severity of their symptoms? How are their symptoms impacting their functioning in life?

Objective: What observations did you make during the psychiatric assessment?

Assessment: Discuss the patient’s mental status examination results. What were your differential diagnoses? Provide a minimum of three possible diagnoses with supporting evidence, listed in order from highest priority to lowest priority. Compare the DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria for each differential diagnosis and explain what DSM-5-TR criteria rules out the differential diagnosis to find an accurate diagnosis. Explain the critical-thinking process that led you to the primary diagnosis you selected. Include pertinent positives and pertinent negatives for the specific patient case.

Reflection notes: What would you do differently with this client if you could conduct the session over? Also include in your reflection a discussion related to legal/ethical considerations (demonstrate critical thinking beyond confidentiality and consent for treatment!), health promotion and disease prevention taking into consideration patient factors (such as age, ethnic group, etc.), PMH, and other risk factors (e.g., socioeconomic, cultural background, etc.).

Identify two to three scholarly resources, that evaluate the impact of leadership behaviors in creating healthy work environments. Reflect on the leadership behaviors presented in the three resources that you selected for review.

Discussion 1: Leadership Theories in Practice

A walk through the Business section of any bookstore or a quick Internet search on the topic will reveal a seemingly endless supply of writings on leadership. Formal research literature is also teeming with volumes on the subject.

However, your own observation and experiences may suggest these theories are not always so easily found in practice. Not that the potential isn’t there; current evidence suggests that leadership factors such as emotional intelligence and transformational leadership behaviors, for example, can be highly effective for leading nurses and organizations.

Yet, how well are these theories put to practice? In this Discussion, you will examine formal leadership theories. You will compare these theories to behaviors you have observed firsthand and discuss their effectiveness in impacting your organization.

To Prepare:

Review  Transformational leadership, and democratic leadership

  • Identify two to three scholarly resources, that evaluate the impact of leadership behaviors in creating healthy work environments.
  • Reflect on the leadership behaviors presented in the three resources that you selected for review.

Review the Resources and reflect on the mission of state/regional boards of nursing as the protection of the public through the regulation of nursing practice. Consider how key regulations may impact nursing practice.

Discussion: Professional Nursing and State-Level Regulations

Boards of Nursing (BONs) exist in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the Virgin Islands. Similar entities may also exist for different regions. The mission of BONs is the protection of the public through the regulation of nursing practice. BONs put into practice state/region regulations for nurses that, among other things, lay out the requirements for licensure and define the scope of nursing practice in that state/region.

It can be a valuable exercise to compare regulations among various state/regional boards of nursing. Doing so can help share insights that could be useful should there be future changes in a state/region. In addition, nurses may find the need to be licensed in multiple states or regions.

To Prepare:

Review the Resources and reflect on the mission of state/regional boards of nursing as the protection of the public through the regulation of nursing practice.

Consider how key regulations may impact nursing practice.

Review key regulations for nursing practice of your state’s/region’s board of nursing and those of at least one other state/region and select at least two APRN regulations to focus on for this Discussion.
