Explain your diagnosis for the patient, including your rationale for the diagnosis. Describe an appropriate drug therapy plan based on the patient’s history, diagnosis, and drugs currently prescribed.

Nursing Question

Gastrointestinal (GI) and hepatobiliary disorders affect the structure and function of the GI tract. Many of these disorders often have similar symptoms, such as abdominal pain, cramping, constipation, nausea, bloating, and fatigue. Since multiple disorders can be tied to the same symptoms, it is important for advanced practice nurses to carefully evaluate patients and prescribe a treatment that targets the cause rather than the symptom.

Once the underlying cause is identified, an appropriate drug therapy plan can be recommended based on medical history and individual patient factors. In this Assignment, you examine a case study of a patient who presents with symptoms of a possible GI/hepatobiliary disorder, and you design an appropriate drug therapy plan.

To Prepare:

  • Review the case study assigned by your Instructor for this Assignment
  • Reflect on the patient’s symptoms, medical history, and drugs currently prescribed.
  • Think about a possible diagnosis for the patient. Consider whether the patient has a disorder related to the gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary system or whether the symptoms are the result of a disorder from another system or other factors, such as pregnancy, drugs, or a psychological disorder.
  • Consider an appropriate drug therapy plan based on the patient’s history, diagnosis, and drugs currently prescribed.
  •
  • Write a 1-page paper that addresses the following:
    • Explain your diagnosis for the patient, including your rationale for the diagnosis.
    • Describe an appropriate drug therapy plan based on the patient’s history, diagnosis, and drugs currently prescribed.
    • Justify why you would recommend this drug therapy plan for this patient. Be specific and provide examples.

Complete a poster presentation activity by following these instructions:

Prepare a single poster presentation, using Prezi or similar product. The poster will describe your scholarly project as if it was complete and you were submitting your poster presentation to a professional audience.

Develop your poster based on your review of literature, table of evidence, and abstract.
In your poster, provide SAMPLE results using tables and/or figures to illustrate findings you might anticipate. Clearly mark the Table or Figure as a Sample. Refer to the document – Critical Appraisal of the Evidence: Part III as a guide.

Use APA formatting for your source citations and references.

Choose 3 sites or applications (one must be a support group) and explain what the critical components are that you used to evaluate them.

Week 3 Discussion

Patients are becoming technologically savvy. The use of the Smartphone has made accessing information as simple as tapping on a downloaded application. For this discussion, please select a disease or condition and research online support groups and websites or applications you would recommend for patient education. Consider the information provided by USA.gov related to evaluating health information on the Internet

Respond to each of the following prompts:
1. Choose 3 sites or applications (one must be a support group) and explain what the critical components are that you used to evaluate them.
2. Explain from a nursing perspective the benefits of each site and also what improvements are needed.
3. How do these sites or applications (one of which is a support group) support diverse and hard-to-reach populations?
