Prior to listening to the TED Talk, on a scale of 0 – 10, rate your perception of/love for “classical music”. Using the scale, a score of 0 – 3 would likely indicate that you rarely listen to it and believe you hate it. A score of 4 – 6 would likely indicate that at times you have been exposed to it and did not dislike it. However, if you had to choose the type of music to listen to, classical would not be the choice. A score of 7 – 8 would likely indicate that you enjoy classical music for relaxation purposes and choose to listen to it on occasion. A score of 9 -10 would indicate you love and enjoy listening to classical music most of the time.

4. Find someone, anyone but yourself, who was raised in another country. Ask them about their experiences with health care in that country. You can talk with other health care folks where you work (a great way to have a conversation with someone you work with) – or any other person. YES. That person can be from Canada. Answer these questions: a. who was this person (name not necessary but were they a colleague, friend, relative, someone you ran into at Starbucks, etc); b. what did they tell you and what was MOST surprising to you in what they told you?

Finally, here is something that I tell my face to face students: Being “poor doesn’t mean you’re stupid; it means you,re poor”. I’ve traveled all over the world and worked in some extremely dire, horrible situations. I’ve met so many people. Many are JUST as smart as we are (you and me). They just have no or little access to resources.

Introduction

Course analytics are important in guiding the revision process as well as further development of your evaluation strategies and documentation. As a nursing educator, you must establish and maintain analytical data to demonstrate to your stakeholders that your course is meeting the learning and program outcomes.

Program effectiveness depends not only on internal factors but also on external factors. Course outcomes should be based on the program learning outcomes and placed in an evaluation plan. Program outcomes evaluate the effectiveness of the whole program.

Overview

Create a PowerPoint presentation with 10–12 slides that proposes a systematic process for determining the effectiveness of the nursing program for your new course.

While you will not have access to real analytical data from real learners to show how the course is meeting the learning and program outcomes, you should still be able to use the formative feedback from the instructor you received for your earlier assessments, as well as scholarly research to think critically about a process that could potentially guide improvement efforts for the nursing program in which the course is being hypothetically offered.
