Examine a national healthcare issue and consider how that issue may impact your work setting.

If you were to ask 10 people what they believe to be the most significant issue facing healthcare today, you might get 10 different answers. Escalating costs? Regulation? Technology disruption?
These and many other topics are worthy of discussion. Not surprisingly, much has been said in the research, within the profession, and in the news about these topics. Whether they are issues of finance, quality, workload, or outcomes, there is no shortage of changes to be addressed.
In this Discussion, you examine a national healthcare issue and consider how that issue may impact your work setting. You also analyze how your organization has responded to this issue.
To Prepare:
Review the Resources and select one current national healthcare issue/stressor to focus on.
Reflect on the current national healthcare issue/stressor you selected and think about how this issue/stressor may be addressed in your work setting.

Post a description of the national healthcare issue/stressor you selected for analysis, and explain how the healthcare issue/stressor may impact your work setting. Then, describe how your health system work setting has responded to the healthcare issue/stressor, including a description of what changes may have been implemented. Be specific and provide examples.

Describe the theoretical background of leaning activity.

One of the recommendations from the Carnegie study on the transformation of nursing education was to enhance the connection of classroom and clinical through integrative teaching and learning. Be imaginative and creative and bridge the divide between clinical and classroom experiences that often occurs in nursing education programs. Students need to begin to “Think Like a Nurse”.
Creation of a Teaching Session Plan
1. Create a teaching session for this 1 hour class period. List teaching materials and supplies needed.
2. Describe the theoretical background of leaning activity.
3. Include a timeline or agenda showing class and break times.
4. Enable one or more narrative pedagogies.
5. Show evidence of the use of concernful practices.
6. Plan method of assessment of student knowledge.
Reflection and Evaluation
7. Review the Module 4 discussion messages posted by your classmates and yourself. Also reflect on teaching methods used in the course discussion (for example, online feedback, debate, peer review, peer teaching, Fishbowl role play, etc). How could these examples of narrative pedagogies influence Teaching Presence, Social Presence, and Cognitive Presence (Links to an external site.)? If you plan to implement the narrative pedagogies for online education, what is your plan?
8. If someone were to ask you, Can you tell me about enabling narrative pedagogies for nursing education?, how would you answer them based on your reflection and synthesis of the literature and your experience working with them?
9. Now at the end of the course, Narrative Pedagogies, compare your thoughts on progress made on the transformation of nursing education to your thoughts from the beginning of this course in Module 1.
