What would you recommend to decide on one modality or another to achieve the learning outcomes?

As you respond to your peers, as a fellow educator, how would you help them think about the learning outcomes? What would you recommend to decide on one modality or another to achieve the learning outcomes?

Contrast and compare at least two types of simulation modalities and how they are used in nursing and/or nursing education.

Sorting through Simulation Modalities
Think about your scenerio design topic/idea. What outcomes would you like to see in the participants during the activity. Then:

Contrast and compare at least two types of simulation modalities and how they are used in nursing and/or nursing education. (Be sure to include not only how they are alike, but how they are different as you answer the topic areas).
Use the headings to guide your discussion: Definitions; Advantages; Disadvantages or limitations; Purpose of the simulation (how it used, i.e. skills, critical thinking, etc.)
Explain why you would like to use these two types for your Design of a scenario and how they would help you achieve the outcomes of the simulation activity.

Discuss strategies to facilitate inter-professional collaboration for translation of evidence to practice.

Discuss strategies to facilitate inter-professional collaboration for translation of evidence to practice.

How do you think health education can help with the prevention of disease?

Introduction:

Outline the learning outcomes of the assessment and your rationale for choosing your topic of discussion for your letter. Set the stage for your argument in the first paragraph. The introduction for your supporting essay must get the reader interested in the topic, provide background information and summarize the main point of your letter.

Discussion:

You will have:

  • Explained theoretical approaches to health promotion and outlined key concepts for transforming health promotion in health and social care services
  • Critically discussed how economic evaluation contributes to evidence-based decision making and action in public health
  • Critically discussed the relationship between mental health, wellbeing and other key public health priorities

You should highlight the important aspects of your letter e.g. the statistical information and data that you have obtained and discuss how this makes an impact on your chosen topic. For example – a supporting essay about Covid-19, you could discuss the debate surrounding staff safety (PPE) versus NHS budgets.

Consider the three levels of health promotion/disease prevention

Prevention, as it relates to health, is about avoiding disease before it starts. It has been defined as the plans for, and the measures taken, to prevent the onset of a disease or other health problem before the occurrence of the undesirable health event. There are three distinct levels of prevention.

Primary prevention—those preventive measures that prevent the onset of illness or injury before the disease process begins.

Examples include immunization and taking regular exercise.

Secondary prevention—those preventive measures that lead to early diagnosis and prompt treatment of a disease, illness or injury to prevent more severe problems developing. Here health educators such as Health Extension Practitioners can help individuals acquire the skills of detecting diseases in their early stages.

Examples include screening for high blood pressure and breast self-examination.

Tertiary prevention—those preventive measures aimed at rehabilitation following significant illness. At this level health services workers can work to retrain, re-educate and rehabilitate people who have already developed an impairment or disability.

Read the list of the three levels of prevention again and think about your experience of health education, whether as a nurse or recipient of health education.

How do you think health education can help with the prevention of disease?

Do you think it will operate at all these levels?

Note an example of possible health education interventions at each level where you think health education can be applied in your discussion.

You will have:

  • Identified and discussed a logical framework to measure the effectiveness of health promotion interventions
  • Demonstrated awareness of current issues used to lobby decision makers on issues relating to health improvement and health inequalities.
  • Critically discussed how economic evaluation contributes to evidence-based decision making and action in public health

Consider the legislation and regulations, cash incentives and financing as instruments for changing the behaviours of health providers and their clients with variable success. For example, if we take the advertising with the NHS for eating healthily, how much has it cost the government and what has been the overall impact? Has it increased the uptake of exercise or healthy eating?

Should the government strengthen health promotion by allocating more resources to academic and research programmes which have focus on health promotion?

What is the role of all stakeholders?

How should socio-economic factors and health inequalities be considered while planning or evaluating health promotion interventions?

Conclusion:

You will have:

  • Reflected upon how your own beliefs may influence your decision making and health promotion activities
  • Considered how this learning might inform your future nursing practice
  • Responsibility for health and lifestyle behaviours: e.g. government, employers, the food and drink industry, and/or ourselves

What do we really want to do or know here? Before you can conclude what the evidence offers, you must evaluate the merit of individual evidence that you have discussed in your main text and explain how it applied in your practice or the changes in invokes in your future practice. For example, in relation to Covid-19, will it be mandatory for nurses to wear full PPE in all hospital settings? How will this impact on the delivery of patient care in the future?

It’s important to summarise the main points of your essay and highlights from the body of your discussion and include the relevance and implications of the essay’s findings.

Identify a mHealth app that could benefit the patient, considering the teaching/learning needs you identified.

The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate the skills of the professional nurse as an educator. You are to prepare a patient scenario based on the required assigned topic. You will choose an already developed and reliable mHealth app to use in the education of your patient.
Select ONE of the Health Conditions or Health Behaviors for the focus of your assignment through the Healthy People 2030 link below:

Write a patient scenario using the Required Assignment Topic.
Make sure to include a Healthy People 2030 Health Condition or Health Behavior in the scenario for a patient with a desire to maintain or achieve good health and prevent illness and who could benefit from an already developed and reliable mHealth app.
Choose a scholarly peer-reviewed journal article published within the last 5 years and related to the health condition or health behavior in your scenario. The Chamberlain Library is your best place to obtain this article. Cite this in APA 7th edition format in this section of the assignment. Please see your APA Manual or our APA resources (‘Crediting Sources Made Simple’) within the course to assist you with this citation format.
Describe in detail the plan for teaching this patient in the scenario.
Include the nurse’s assessment of learning needs and readiness to learn.
Identify a mHealth app that could benefit the patient, considering the teaching/learning needs you identified.
Describe the app including the mHealth app name, purpose, intended audience, mobile device(s) upon which it will operate, and where to download or obtain it. Add any other information you believe would be pertinent to this situation.
Include a working link if it is to be downloaded from a website in the area indicated on the template.
Make sure to add a citation for this mHealth app in APA format. The directions and example of how to cite a mobile app are located on page 340 of the APA Manual, 7th edition.
Scenario is very thorough, clear and concise with a description of the patient with a specific HP 2030 health condition or health behavior who wants to prevent illness and maintain or achieve good health. Clearly and thoroughly states that the person is seeking information, including a detailed assessment of learning needs and readiness to learn. A related scholarly peer-reviewed journal article is used, published within the past 5 years.
Description of details of the planned teaching for the patient is outstanding. Depth and detail are excellent.
Describes the mHealth application in excellent detail including its: Name, Purpose, Intended Audience, Mobile device upon which it operates, Download or where to obtain, Other pertinent information and sources that are used are cited.

Create a succinct but informative summary that would, in clinical practice, be suited to communicate with the on-call physician.

The aim of this assignment is to demonstrate the consolidation of your knowledge through the
creation of a nursing focused plan of care that is based on scenarios that are purposefully openended and somewhat vague. In these scenarios, a primary medical diagnoses may be evident
but these patients are also are risk for developing complication and other secondary medical
diagnoses1
. While there is no “wrong” answer in identifying a secondary medical
diagnosis/risk(s), these diagnoses should be plausible and well substantiated based on
assessment findings and common complications of either the primary diagnosis or
interventions/treatments.
First, you will thoroughly review the three scenarios presented below.
Second, you will choose one of these scenarios to create a plan of care – make sure to indicate,
on your assignment template which scenario you are using.
Third, you will develop a comprehensive plan of care wherein two evidence informed nursing
interventions are identified.
Fourth, using an SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment and Recommendations) approach,
you will create a succinct but informative summary that would, in clinical practice, be suited to
communicate with the on-call physician. Your SBAR summary should be directed towards a
priority intervention (based on patient risk) that you have identified. There should be a clear
request to the physician.
