Spend a couple of hours trying to navigate your daily schedule while breathing through a straw and pulling a rolling suitcase (simulate an oxygen tank). Create a daily schedule for one weekday and discuss how having COPD would impact those activities. Further, you will have to imagine what it would be like if you experienced a tank malfunction

  • Imagine what a day would be like if you had COPD and had to take an oxygen tank with you everywhere you went.
  • How would that affect what you do every day?

Special instructions: “In the United States, the two conditions considered to be COPD are emphysema and chronic bronchitis.  When you have COPD, it is hard to breathe (like breathing through a straw) and it gets worse over time. In this assignment, you will empathetically explore how difficult, inconvenient, and embarrassing it might be to carry an oxygen tank everywhere. Your challenge is to spend a couple of hours trying to navigate your daily schedule while breathing through a straw and pulling a rolling suitcase (simulate an oxygen tank). You will create a daily schedule for one weekday and discuss how having COPD would impact those activities. Further, you will have to imagine what it would be like if you experienced a tank malfunction.” (You do not worry with the schedule, as I will be doing it.)

To the writer: On the essay, if you could please write an essay following these questions below based on the simulation exercise I indicated above, so you can empathetically can write a good one.

What would you do? What plans and procedures would you need to be in place in case of an emergency? Keep in mind, that even if your tank if functioning well, it is still difficult to breathe.

Identify an outcome of nursing practice in your area of practice that can be improved. For example, if you work in home health, you may identify that throw rug use by fall risk patients is too prevalent. You may be able to use the problem that inspired the theory concepts that you developed in week two.

Identify the concept in Watson’s Theory of Caring that could represent or include the outcome. In our example, the outcome would be the changes in self through the change in the patient’s floor covering practice. Identify a practice that can be changed or implemented that may influence the outcome. Identify the concept in Watson’s Theory of Caring that includes the practice.

In our example, the practice could be to improve the understanding of fall hazards through the engagement in a teaching-learning experience, one of Watson’s Caritas Processes. Identify exactly how these two concepts will be measured with their operational definitions. Develop a proposition between the two. Present your outcome in an APA formatted paper meeting the University’s standards for a written assignment.

Describe relevant theories that support inter-professional collaborative practice. Examine a patient centered protocol/policy at the facility where you practice that incorporates evidence-based practice and possibly a theoretical framework (theory of nursing).

The purpose of Module C-Part II is to allow students an opportunity to assess an existing hospital or clinical policy/protocol by using an existing nursing theory. This short assignment is completed using the Module C Part II template with an emphasis of incorporating nursing theory into protocols/policies existing within facilities.

Evaluate a patient-centered clinical protocol or policy using evidence-based practice and a nursing theory.
Describe relevant theories that support inter-professional collaborative practice.
Examine a patient centered protocol/policy at the facility where you practice that incorporates
evidence-based practice and possibly a theoretical framework (theory of nursing). This is an assignment that is contained within a template format( see red template attachment above).

We strongly discourage students from using Nightingale as well as Henderson’s theories for this assignment. For this to be meaningful and useful in your clinical settings, we want you to use a contemporary nursing theory. Your textbook has many to choose from!

Questions for Consideration: Answer these within the template in the designated columns of the assignment.

A. Does this sample policy incorporate a theoretical framework (nursing theory)?
B If so, which one? Is it appropriated applied? Could it be improved? 100 words minimum. These two questions are clearly answered: Why is this a good choice of theory? How does the theory apply to this policy?
C. If not, what ONE nursing theory could be incorporated and why? 100 words minimum. These two questions are clearly answered: Why is this a good choice of theory? How does the theory apply to this policy?
D. How would you re-write this policy/protocol using ONE nursing theory (either the same one only with stronger influence (if one is present), or a different one, if one is present) or the one suggested in part C if not present currently? Focus on incorporating 3 specific theory concepts/terms/phrases into the policy. Make changes directly into the policy as noted in the template. Any nursing theory concept/term/phrase added needs to be cited, briefly defined and clearly highlighted. To do this thoroughly, we are looking for 70 words minimum with rationale as to why you are adding this specific section. You will do this twice, in two different sections of the chosen policy, and as noted in the template.

There are many factors and measures that may impact organizational health. Among these is civility. While an organization can institute policies designed to promote such things as civility, how can it be sure these are managed effectively?Examine the use of tools in measuring workplace civility.

How healthy is your workplace? You may think your current organization operates seamlessly, or you may feel it has many issues. You may experience or even observe things that give you pause. Yet, much as you wouldn’t try to determine the health of a patient through mere observation, you should not attempt to gauge the health of your work environment based on observation and opinion. Often, there are issues you perceive as problems that others do not; similarly, issues may run much deeper than leadership recognizes.

What is Mrs. Levy’s perception of the problem? What can be some of the implications of the problem on the family as a whole?

Addictive disorders can be particularly challenging for clients. Not only do these disorders typically interfere with a client’s ability to function in daily life, but they also often manifest as negative and sometimes criminal behaviors. Sometime clients with addictive disorders also suffer from other mental health issues, creating even greater struggles for them to overcome. In your role, you have the opportunity to help clients address their addictions and improve outcomes for both the clients and their families. For this Assignment, as you examine the Levy Family video in this week’s Learning Resources, consider how you might assess and treat clients presenting with addiction.

Assess clients presenting with addictive disorders. Analyze therapeutic approaches for treating clients with addictive disorders. Evaluate outcomes for clients with addictive disorders. Review this week’s Learning Resources and consider the insights they provide. Review the Levy Family video Episodes 1 through 5.
