Assignment 3 Group Research Design and Measurement Tools

Your task is to answer the following questions for my program evaluations course.

1) In class last week we covered the reliability with regard to survey questions. Review the following questions and determine if they are reliable. For each question below determine if it is reliable (unbiased) or unreliable (biased). If the question is unreliable state what type of biased question it is! such as negative questions or double-barreled questions and justify your response! NUMBER each answer accordingly before answering (like””1C. This question is…” ) so I know which question you are referring to. Use this website to assist you: 11 Biased & Unbiased Question Examples in Surveys https://www.formpl.us/blog/biased-survey-question-example , feel free to research your own to understand the concept further. NO HEADERS OR TITLES.

1) Like stated above, Review the following questions and determine if they are reliable.

A) Should health-conscious students be concerned about how much caffeine they consume?

C) How bad do you think the economic recession will be?
D) Do you know about the physical effects of drinking alcohol? Yes, or no?
E) Do you drink alcohol when you are alone and in social situations? Yes, or no?

2) In group research design, one of the most commonly used design is nonequivalent control group design. For this design answer the following (15 points):

A) Diagram this type of research design With Os and Xs. (This doesnt need to be a paragraph, if you dont understand leave blank. (Ex: 2A. Blank))

B) Describe nonequivalent control group design and what are its strengths (be detailed!)

C) What are placebo influences and how social desirability factors? How can they adversely impact the results of nonequivalent control group design research?

3) In group research design, one type of design is called time series design. For this type of design answer the following questions (10 points):

A) Describe time series design (be detailed!)

B) Describe one threat to internal validity of time series design.

Compare and contrast a primary source of ONE of the following from Enlightenment to its counterpart in Romanticism.

Romanticism

Compare and contrast a primary source of ONE of the following from Enlightenment to its counterpart in Romanticism (Two works in total):

  • Works of visual art
  • Works of poetry

Your paper must contain the following sources:

2 primary sources from the time periods
2 journal articles
2 other appropriate academic sources of your choosing. (The librarian will be able to help you with information literacy.)

The articles and other sources should be used as reference material for cultural and historical context and background information about your chosen pieces.
You can refer to the module “Understanding Primary Sources,” if you are not sure what a primary source is. In short, they are works created by people during that time period you are studying which reflect the, values, experiences, and culture of that time period.

Book Review

If you find it useful to include comparisons to other books, keep them brief so That the book under review remains in the spotlight.

Avoid excessive quotation and give a specific page reference in parentheses when you do quote. Remember that you can state any of the author’s points th your own words.

Strengths

Identify 2 or 3 specific areas where you think the book does well. These would ideally be some of the book’s greatest strengths as an academic work.

Weaknesses

Identify 2 or 3 specific areas where you think the book could be improved. While this weakness might be related to something you actually believe to be incorrect, it is more likely to be something that the author omitted or neglected to address in sufficient detail.

Conclusion

Thin up or restate your thesis or make your final judgment regarding the book. You should not introduce new evidence for your argument in the conclusion. You can, however, introduce new ideas that go beyond the book if they extend the logic of your own thesis.

The conclusion needs to balance the book’s strengths and weaknesses hi order to unify your evaluation. Did the body of your review have three negative paragraphs and one favorable one? What do they all add up to?

End your reWew with a concluding statement summarising your opinion rear book. You should also explicitly identify a range of audiences whom you think would appreciate reading or otherwise benefit from dm book.

  • Review the book in front of you, not the book you wish the author bed written. You can and should point out shortcomings or failures, but don’t criticize the book for not being something it was never intended to be.
  • With any luck, the author of the book worked hard to find the right words to express his/her ideas. You should attempt to do the same. Precise language allows you to control the tone of your review.
  • Never hesitate to challenge an assumption, approach, or argument. Be sure, however, to cite specific examples to back up your assertions carefully.
  • Try to present a balanced argument about the value of the book for its audience. You’re entitled—and sometimes obligated—to voice strong agreement or disagreement. But keep in mind that a bad book takes as long to write as a good one, and every author deserves fair …lent. Harsh judgments are difficult to prove and can give readers the sense that yon were unfair in your assessment.

Writing good academic book reviews gem easier with experience, just like any skill. And provided you meet your due dates and are amenable to any changes your professor may wish you to implement, your opportunities to make contributions in this genre and to the collective pursuits of a community committed to the advancement of knowledge will only increase with time. All you need to do is take that first step.

Create a program to input, keep track of, and check the user’s attempts to guess a randomly generated number.

CMPSCI – 235 Guess the Number Program

This is the old “I’m thinking of a number between…”. When you run the program, the computer randomly generates a number. Then, the user is to guess the number. Upon guessing wrong, the program gives him/her a hint as to whether the guess is too high or too low. Once the number has been guessed, the game is over.

Create a program to input, keep track of, and check the user’s attempts to guess a randomly generated number. The input portion of the program will be a continuous loop, only breaking out of it when the user either guesses the correct number or by entering -1 to signify giving up. After each guess, the user will be informed of his guess being too high, too low, or exactly correct. Upon exiting the loop, the user is given feedback of their guesses .

 Veteran’s Administration PTSD dissemination

The correctional health nurse is seeing an increase in the number of clients with a history of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She notes that there are a number of veterans from the military as inmates. As the nurse visits with some of the inmates who are veterans, she has concerns about how their cases are being handled in the correctional system.

The nurse has signed up for a Veteran’s Administration PTSD dissemination event for clinicians. What might she expect from this event?

The nurse knows that evidence-based practice includes not just current best evidence. What are other parts of evidence-based practice that must be considered when applying research to the clinical setting?

What are examples of problem-focused triggers that would lead to an evidence-based practice project?

Describe your recommended system development life cycle process type. Detail the challenges and benefits of the recommended system development life cycle process type. Explain how the software development team will mitigate the risks of the chosen SDLC process type.

After-Action Review

One issue that was gathered during the After-Action Review of the online ordering system was that communication between the customer and the development team was infrequent and caused issues with requirements validation as well as customer confidence. The Program Manager has asked you to update the project plan that was utilized in the online ordering system to address how customer communication can be enhanced. The project plan must describe the systems development life cycle (SDLC) process type to be utilized and document the execution of that SDLC process in a project plan that includes the following:

Describe your recommended system development life cycle process type.

Detail the challenges and benefits of the recommended system development life cycle process type.

Explain how the software development team will mitigate the risks of the chosen SDLC process type.

Justification of your reasoning that the recommended system development life cycle process type is the best choice for the new project.

Schedule execution of the system development life cycle process type utilized.

Detail monitoring techniques that will be utilized to ensure the project maintains the schedule.

The Program Manger has asked you to update the requirements elicitation plan from the online ordering system to ensure that customer requirements validation is improved and to ensure that sufficient quantity and quality of requirements are gathered from this inexperienced customer. The requirements elicitation plan needs to include the following information:

Describe the requirements elicitation techniques that will be utilized.

Detail example requirements to be gathered within each technique.

Ensure that elicitation of non-functional requirements is addressed.

The Program Manger has asked you to develop design models for the Acme Company timekeeping system. The design models that have been requested are:
