“The field of Clinical Psychology involves research, teaching and services relevant to the applications of principles, methods, and procedures for understanding, predicting, and alleviating intellectual, emotional, biological, psychological, social and behavioral maladjustment, disability and discomfort, applied to a wide range of client populations” (Division 12, 2016). An undergraduate degree requires 4 years of undergraduate education, plus 2 years of graduate studies. Before this step a master’s degree needs to be obtained and for higher seeking degree, a doctoral program is required. “Clinical psychology integrates theory, science, and practice in an effort to “understand, predict, and alleviate maladjustment, disability, and discomfort” and to “promote human adaptation, adjustment, and personal development” (Helms & Rogers, 2015). If you enjoy learning about the human mind and all that it entails, I believe you will be a good fit. Also, a person who can balance carefully between their private and professional lives and can constantly evaluate the importance of knowing with the value of not knowing details about client’s lives and situations. Someone who finds character traits interesting and loves research.  I`ve been drawn to Clinical Psychology because I always wanted to be in the medical field but never knew what field would register with me. I didn`t want to “deal” with the body, the mind has always been intriguing to me. Growing up I wanted to help people, I wanted a career where I am making a difference in people`s lives. It`s been interesting learning about this field and the steps it takes to get the degree in this field. Psychology aligned with everything I could imagine I wanted to explore and learn. I would like to prescribe medication and explore research and cognitive experiments. A few skills someone should have trying to get this degree should be an inquisitive nature, Self-knowledge, Comfort with diversity.

Identify your topic . Put the topic in your own words to show your individual understanding. Figure out your main points. What are the main ideas you want to convey or need to convince your audience? Arrange your main points in a logical order and list them in the outline. Evaluate your outline. Look over what you have written. Does it make logical sense? Is each point suitably fleshed out? Is there anything unnecessary?

OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER(OCD)

Creating an Outline

1. Identify your topic . Put the topic in your own words to show your individual understanding. Try to stick with a single sentence or phrase, as this will help make sure you stay on topic.

2. Figure out your main points. What are the main ideas you want to convey or need to convince your audience? These points usually answer the questions “why or how is the main topic important and right?” Together with your topic, these points should help you arrive at a working thesis.

3. Arrange your main points in a logical order and list them in the outline. This order can of course be changed later as you evaluate your outline.

4. Create sub-points beneath each major idea. By convention, each time you have a new number or letter, there need to be at least two points (i.e. if you have an A, you need a B; if you have a 1, you need a 2; etc.). Though perhaps frustrating at first, it is indeed useful because it forces you to think hard about each point; if you can’t create two points, then reconsider including the first in your paper, as it may be extraneous information that may detract from your argument.

5. Evaluate your outline. Look over what you have written. Does it make logical sense? Is each point suitably fleshed out? Is there anything unnecessary?

Discuss your thoughts about applying motivation theories with employees in today’s organizational environment. What theories will be most effective and how should they be used to address the different segments of the workforce? In what ways should organizations change standard employee benefits and/or evaluations in order to motivate employees in the current workplace?

Motivation in the Time of a Pandemic

BACKGROUND:

The pandemic has wreaked havoc on the world of work as we know it making this a time of great importance for IO psychologists. The shutdown of the economy in March 2020 left many workers unemployed during an already stressful time. The “essential workers” who continued to report to work during the shutdown are now experiencing employee burnout, this is an especially major concern for healthcare workers and others in service jobs. As our country tries to get on the other side of this virus, we are starting to see news of organizations being faced with worker strikes and higher turnover as a workforce shortage has now shifted the power balance to employees. Organizational psychologist Anthony Klotz, who coined the term The Great Resignation, says this: “One hopefully silver lining of this horrible pandemic would be if the world of work transitioned to a more healthy, sustainable place for employee well-being.”

INSTRUCTIONS:

In a well-written discussion post address the following:

1. Discuss your thoughts about applying motivation theories with employees in today’s organizational environment. What theories will be most effective and how should they be used to address the different segments of the workforce?

2. In what ways should organizations change standard employee benefits and/or evaluations in order to motivate employees in the current workplace?
