Describe the disease model of addiction and the life process model of addiction.

Model of addiction

In detail, describe the disease model of addiction and the life process model of addiction. Be sure to make it very clear that you understand how the way that people view these theories plays a huge role in how they view and treat people diagnosed with Substance Use Disorders.

Leave no stone unturned here. Conclude your essay by writing a detailed paragraph in which you outline which of these two theories you find to be the most accurate way to understand and treat people diagnosed with Substance Use Disorders. Cite evidence from your readings and class discussions to support your opinion. Don’t make this last paragraph all about your opinion only. Use evidence to support your opinions.

What are Kubler Ross’s 5 stages of Dying? How is this “stage” theory different from other stage theories we reviewed in class? Name each stage and be sure to cite a real-world example of how someone might act or feel if they were within this stage of Kubler-Ross’s theory.

Kubler Ross’s 5 stages of Dying

1.What are Kubler Ross’s 5 stages of Dying? How is this “stage” theory different from other stage theories we reviewed in class? Name each stage and be sure to cite a real-world example of how someone might act or feel if they were within this stage of Kubler-Ross’s theory. Conclude each description of each stage with how one should interact with that person differently based on knowing what stage/category they were in.

2. Imagine you are counseling your friend about romantic relationships in early adulthood. What are the top 3 things you would advise your friend to think about in pursuing happy and healthy romantic relationships into the future? Don’t just offer your opinions. Use the science discussed in class and in your readings to construct your top 3 list.

In addition, be sure to provide real-world advice to your friend about WHAT THEY CAN DO SPECIFICALLY. Don’t just offer opinions. Be sure your advice is based on the extensive science we have reviewed

Examine the article’s generalizability to various areas of psychology. Why would some people choose to follow the orders to avoid social contact and others allow desire for human interaction to be their driving force?

Coronavirus disease

Instructions

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in 2019, a new strain of the coronavirus disease was discovered. Also known as COVID-19, this strain of the virus had previously not been identified in humans. A worldwide pandemic ensued as the virus quickly spread across the globe, impacting countless lives, including many individuals in the United States.

In an effort to contain the virus, numerous countries’ leaders encouraged social distancing, which is an infection control strategy aimed to help lessen the spread of a contagious disease. This directive was given by leaders in the United States as well. Two schools of thought emerged. In fact, many people were skeptical about the authenticity of this pandemic due to perplexing and often conflicting messages that were received across social media and news outlets. Therefore, numerous Americans assumed business as usual and maintained their daily living and social rituals. On the other hand, scores of others quickly retreated to their homes, embracing the warning provided by some of the nation’s top infectious disease experts.

This assignment provides you with an opportunity to analyze a real-world, peer-reviewed, psychology journal article that contains research examining the social psychology aspects of motivation and emotion. You will then demonstrate your understanding of the article by relating the research and conclusions contained therein to current events.
Begin by visiting the CSU Online Library to locate and choose a journal article in which motivation and emotion are viewed under the lens of social psychology. The article must be peer-reviewed and should be no older than 7 years.

NOTE: You are not required to locate an article about COVID-19; instead, you must find a peer-reviewed journal article concerning research that specifically examines motivation and emotion. You will then be critiquing the article and framing the research and conclusions presented in the article in the context of how they can be applied to behavior and social psychology during such an event as the COVID-19 pandemic.

A good place to start your search is the PsycARTICLES database or the Academic Search Ultimate database. You can access these databases from the Databases box on the library homepage.

For assistance in locating your article, you may find the following tutorial How to Find Journal Articles helpful.

Additionally, you may find this tutorial How to Search in PsycARTICLES useful.

Once you have chosen your article about motivation, emotion, and social psychology, you will write an article critique that addresses the following elements.

Explain the research methodology that was used in the study.

Discuss social factors that influence people or groups to conform to the actions of others.

Indicate how behaviors and motivation are impacted by the presence of others. (How does this apply to COVID-19?)

Indicate the structures of the brain that are involved in emotion and motivation. (How could a person’s emotions related to fear drive theirbehaviors during this pandemic?)

Examine the article’s generalizability to various areas of psychology.

Why would some people choose to follow the orders to avoid social contact and others allow desire for human interaction to be their driving force?

In addition, your article critique should clearly identify the article’s premise and present an insightful and thorough analysis with strong arguments and evidence. You should present your own informed and substantiated opinion on the article’s content and its relation to social psychology during the COVID-19 pandemic. You should use the textbook as your second source to support your analysis and to supplement any information that is not contained in the journal article.

Your article critique must be a minimum of three pages in length, not including the title and reference pages. All sources used must be properly cited. Your article critique, including all references, must be formatted in APA style.
You may view the following CSU Writing Center tutorial Article Critiques for assistance in writing an article critique.

Identify/describe a local healthcare organization which would receive funding/operate a program under this operating division.

Discussion 1: Heath Care Operations and Program

In the world of human services, healthcare and human services programs often intersect and overlap. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is the largest governmental regulator and funder of the health and human services program. HHS has eleven operating divisions, which are known as agencies. These agencies provide oversight and regulations for millions of dollars for human services and healthcare programs. As future human services leaders, it is important to know which regulatory agency is responsible for the various healthcare programs and services. The HHS 11 Operating Divisions are:

  1. Administration for Children and Families (ACF)
  2. Administration for Community Living (ACL)
  3. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)
  4. Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR)
  5. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
  6. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)
  7. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
  8. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)
  9. Indian Health Services (IHS)
  10. National Institutes of Health (NIH)
  11. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)

Directions

For this discussion board, you will be randomly assigned to one of the eleven operating divisions.

Utilize the Department of Health and Human Services website (Links to an external site.), where you will find the organizational chart and eleven operating divisions (agencies).

Initial Post

In your initial post, and based on your assigned operating division, submit the following information:

  1. Operating Division Name and History: Reason for operating division creation, i.e., in response to what healthcare issue, and annual budget.
  2. Mission and Area of Responsibility: Identify and summarize the agency division mission. Give an example of programs/services provided.
  3. Within your assigned operating division, select one (1) program, center, office, institute, or bureau within the operating division and provide the following information:
    • Apply the information obtained in items a and b and identify/describe a local healthcare organization which would receive funding/operate a program under this operating division (include your personal experience/knowledge about the organization).

Describe the concept of social class Explain the types of families that are included in each social class position described in your textbook:professional-managerial class, working class, and underclass. Analyze the impact that social class has on your assigned family generation.

Assignment: Family Life Cycle Fact Sheet

Introduction

Class position intensifies or alleviates the impact of crisis situations on families at each family life cycle. It influences whether family members receive higher education or life-saving surgery. It affects whether the family turns to paid helpers or unpaid relatives during times of need. It determines whether families immigrate together or separately. One member’s serious illness can also cause job loss and even homelessness if working-class relatives lose work time to care for their ill family member. In this assignment, you will explore how the family life cycle is impacted by social class position and will then develop a Fact Sheet for your assigned population. You will be assigned to research either the elderly or adolescent/teen population based on the 1st letter of your last name. (See Content Expectations for the assigned topic.)

Assignment Overview: What is a Fact Sheet?

Fact sheets are short reports that present information in a readable and interesting format. They enable scientists and researchers to concisely summarize the results of research, so it is shareable with the public or other professionals. A useful Fact Sheet has a clear organization and structure. It names the issue at hand, discusses relevance, gives data (usually numerical or statistical), describes interventions and makes recommendations. Because Fact Sheets summarize data in a report format, they must provide accurate citations and references for the sources. An example of a Fact Sheet is provided by the National Partnership for Women and Families: Healthy Families Fact Sheet (Links to an external site.).

 DIRECTIONS

 General Format and Audience

Most fact sheets are two pages in length. They should have a good balance of text (in a readable font), white space, and images or charts and graphs.

An effective fact sheet is informative and visually interesting. Many use a two-column format, as well as color fonts, headers and photographs.

It is important to keep your audience in mind, as you write the text for your Fact Sheet.

Use headings throughout the Fact Sheet to guide your reader through the Fact Sheet.

For the purposes of this assignment, assume you are working with an agency and are developing this Fact Sheet for distribution among the general public to share information regarding the impact that social class has on the family life cycle.

  1. Your fact sheet should:
  2. Describe the concept of social class
  3. Explain the types of families that are included in each social class position described in your textbook:professional-managerial classworking class, and underclass.
  4. Analyze the impact that social class has on your assigned family generation (For example: a premature baby being able to receive the medical treatment needed).
  5. List the possible challenges that face your assigned family generation as a result of social class position.
  6. Use 2 additional scholarly references (this is in addition to your required textbook). Scholarly references can include peer-reviewed articles, journals, government websites, and any course supplemental resources.

Format Expectations

Your Fact Sheet Must:

  1. Cite all information from the required resources/textbook plus the additional scholarly references you use in the Fact Sheet. Use APA style.
  2. Have two pages of content.
  3. Have a balance of readable text, images, and white space.
  4. Use headings to guide the reader.
  5. Use color in headings, charts, and graphs. Use Word to create a pie chart or a histogram to represent data on assigned social class age population.
  6. Avoid cut and paste text or tables from your sources.
  7. Be well-organized and free of spelling and grammatical errors.
  8. Use two additional scholarly sources besides the textbook.
  9. Not copy from any existing fact sheet or handout.

Discuss the differences between establishing and abolishing operations and explain why you might manipulate these Motivating Operations as part of planned behavior change. Explain each type of Differential Reinforcement (DRO/DRI/DRA/DRL), and provide a basic example of how two DR procedures can be used to promote changes in behavior.

Motivating Operations, Differential Reinforcement, Stimulus Class, and Verbal Behavior

For this assignment, you will provide a long answer essay response to each of the questions below. For each question, you are encouraged to use the peer-reviewed resources provided throughout the units to support your responses. Please do not copy and paste the whole question into the document. Rather, provide the question number (1-4) and a brief heading that correlates with each section of the grading rubric.

(Ex. 1. Motivating Operations and Differential Reinforcement)

1. Discuss the differences between establishing and abolishing operations and explain why you might manipulate these Motivating Operations as part of planned behavior change. Next, explain each type of Differential Reinforcement (DRO/DRI/DRA/DRL), and provide a basic example of how two DR procedures can be used to promote changes in behavior. Finally, discuss how other procedures might be incorporated to support a differential reinforcement approach as part of a behavior reduction component to the plan.

2. First, define stimulus and stimulus class and provide an example that demonstrates your understanding of the concept. Next, define the concept of stimulus control and how stimulus control is established, differentiating between generalization and discrimination of stimuli. Finally, review Jasmine’s Case Example (transcript attached below) to examine how you would use response and stimulus prompt fading to transfer stimulus control to a more relevant stimulus, including the application of differential reinforcement, as part of a maintenance plan for a target behavior.

3. First, discuss the basic concept of Verbal Behavior as an operant paradigm. Next, discuss each of the elementary verbal operants, categorizing them according to their properties of point-to-point correspondence, formal similarity, and appropriate reinforcement according to each operant’s specific function. Finally, provide a unique example of each verbal operant to demonstrate your understanding of how each is applied to the development of language.

4. Discuss the concept of Derived Stimulus Relations as it applies to the development of language and cognition. Explain the similarities and differences of how derived stimulus relations and verbal behavior contribute to the development of an individual’s language and cognition. Finally, identify the three parts of stimulus equivalence, and explain how each part applies to the development of derived stimulus relations in language.
