Compare and contrast research topic, problem, question, statement, and objective and explain the progressive movement through them

Introduction and Research Questions Learning Objectives

• Explain the purpose of the Introduction section of a research paper, appreciate the difference and connection between opening points and the Introduction section, and classify opening points into six types

• Compare and contrast research topic, problem, question, statement, and objective and explain the progressive movement through them

• Explain how these all differ depending on research methodology (qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods)

• Describe six different types of research problems and list the characteristics of a good research problem

• Describe the difference between qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research questions and elaborate on the respective characteristics of a good research question

• Differentiate between a research statement and a research objective, and demonstrate the difference between qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research statements

• Recognize each of six approaches to writing Introduction sections, being able to judge when each has been executed properly

Evaluate Phillip Markoff’s personality from the standpoint of your chosen theory.

In this discussion you will assume the role of a Psychology instructor creating a short graduate level presentation on personality. The case study for the presentation will center on Phillip Markoff, also known as an alleged Craigslist Killer. To begin, choose one of the personality theories from the required readings and research a minimum of one peer-reviewed article on your chosen theory. (Found under reference: Harré, R. (2006). Key thinkers in psychology. Retrieved from the Credo database.) The personality theory being used is Hans Jürgen Eysenck’s neurophysiology:

“Eysenck was convinced that personality arose primarily from the neurophysiology of the individual. Differences in temperament must, therefore, be due to differences in the neurophysiology of individual human beings. These differences, in turn, were built in as individual genetic endowments. However, though the direction of causality was from neurophysiology to personality, the order of discovery was the reverse.” (Harre, 2006)

Create a PowerPoint presentation of four-seven slides (not including the title and reference slides). The presentation must begin with a Title slide that provides the title of the lecture, your name, the course name and number, your instructor’s name and the date submitted. The presentation must end with a Reference slide that includes all the resources used for your lecture presentation cited in APA format.

The body of the presentation must include the following elements.

  • Provide a definition and brief description of the chosen theory.
  • Evaluate Phillip Markoff’s personality from the standpoint of your chosen theory.
  • Explain how the chosen theoretical perspective provides insights into Markoff’s behavior.

For assistance in creating effective PowerPoint presentations you may access Garr Reynolds’s Top Ten Slide Tips (Links to an external site.) . Be certain to support your statements within the presentation with a minimum of three references. These may include up to two required resources for this week.

Where would you place yourself in Eysenck’s taxonomy?

Question: Where would you place yourself in Eysenck’s taxonomy? In what ways does this placement capture your personality and in what ways, if any, does it “miss the mark”?
I’ve drafted this response, I just need help making the content, organization, and mechanics more professional and concise.

Explain the major components of working memory and how it operates

Using your textbook as a source, discuss all three stages of memory (Sensory, Working, and Long Term). Tell me how each stage of memory works and what each stage is capable of. For example, how long do they each hold information for? What sort of information do they hold? How much information can they hold? Are there different types of memory and if so, are those memories processed differently? How enduring, or stable are our memories? How do we form memories? What happens to the brain’s ability to form memories when brain areas like the hippocampus and Medial Temporal Lobes get damaged? Make sure to include the major processes involved in each of the stages of memory. For example, when talking about working memory, it is necessary to talk about things like the phonological loop and the Visio-Spatial Sketchpad.

Please tell this story as if you are describing to me what is happening in your brain as you act out your life. That is, create a scenario in which you must use all three stages of memory to accomplish some task and describe how the process works in real-time. Your narrative can be mundane, as in performing some everyday task, or extraordinary, like maybe you describe yourself as a superhero defending the city against a zombie apocalypse or something else fantastical. Be as creative as you want to be. The main point though is to include good, relevant material from the chapter in your discussion of how memory works. Be very detailed in your discussion of memory. Feel free to incorporate information from previous chapters (e.g. sensation and perception is a good fit with memory) into your story.
