Many experts in research design return to the importance of interpreting the findings of a research project. Complete these tasks for this week’s discussion:
Explain two reasons why this is an essential element in a high-quality research report.
Then, discuss two benefits of examining and understanding the intrinsic meaning of the data.
Lastly, explain three disadvantages of going too far beyond the scope of the data.

What distinguishes language from mere communication?

This week focuses on cognition, intelligence, and language. Cognition is the information processing mechanics of acquiring and processing knowledge (including attention, memory, problem solving, concept formation, and decision-making). Intelligence is a broadly-defined term that is associated with concepts like IQ. And language is a specialized form of communication that allows for a nearly infinite expression of ideas due to the symbolic and constructive nature of our visual or auditory symbols.
Answer the following questions.
1. University students face frequent challenges: problems to be solved. What are some of the common barriers to problem solving discussed in our textbook (attached), and how can these be overcome? Have you faced a problem recently, and how might you use this week’s lessons to help solve this problem?
2. How do Type 1 and Type 2 thinking affect our decision making? How do heuristics fit into the picture (both pros and cons)?
3. What distinguishes language from mere communication? Identify at least one critical component of language and discuss it.
4. What are some of the drawbacks to intelligence testing?
Answers should be a minimum of 12 sentences in length, should be well thought out, should show critical thinking about the topic, and should be based on evidence from the readings (with included citations and References from the powerpoint attached!!!!!!).
In your initial post, you should also identify a concept from this week’s lessons that was either interesting or confusing. You should explain the concept in your own words, and you should explain why it was interesting or confusing. (This interesting concept should be about THE AVAILABILITY HEURISTIC)
Answers for the interesting concept should be a minimum of 6 sentences in length.
There should only be 3 citations throughout questions 1 , 2 , 3 and 4 that should ALL come from the textbook powerpoint attached.
Interesting topic should NOT have any citations and be in your own words.
The references must be the book title written in the powerpoint

Please do not heavily borrow information from an online site. Majority should be in your own words.

Demonstrate the synthesis and integration of course materials and integrate multiple viewpoints and resources

Expectation: Responses demonstrate the synthesis and integration of course materials and integrate multiple viewpoints and resources. Responses contribute to deepening or broadening the discussion while maintaining the key area of focus. Resources are utilized and properly cited. Response to an individual post so two total about 1 paragraph each

Draw on any three approaches to ethics including utility, duty (deontology), rights, virtue, or care.

Mod 8 – case analysis 7

Anticipating the possibility that their soldiers may one day be captured by the enemy; some modern armies include in their basic training exposure to torture techniques. That is, they subject their own troops to mild forms of torture in order that they may learn how to resist it. Is this practice justifiable morally? If you believe it is justifiable only under certain conditions, specify the conditions.

The general instruction is: Taking care to identify the moral issue(s) and the parties involved, take a balanced moral position offering a recommendation or a policy resolution. Please draw on any three approaches to ethics including utility, duty (deontology), rights, virtue, or care. Your recommendation should follow logically from your analyses. Your essay should highlight a coherent process of reasoning that integrates moral considerations required for each analysis. The Final Case Analysis will be assessed for depth, breadth, and judgment. It should be 800 words long and if any source is cited, it must be properly cited using MLA format.

You must use APA 7th referencing style for your bibliography and in-text citations. Follow
the ‘How to reference in APA style’ guidelines exactly: https://libguides.scu.edu.au/apa
8. The main skills being assessed here are: research skills; understanding of technique and
relevance to neurological function; critical thinking; clarity of expression; correct
