compare and contrast four major research strategies commonly used in the field of psychology.

For this assignment, you are to compare and contrast four major research strategies commonly used in the field of psychology. These research strategies are the Descriptive research strategy, the Correlational research strategy, the Meta-Analytic research strategy, and the Experimental research strategy. A good deal of this information can be found in your textbook. However, I encourage you to seek additional information from outside resources.  When using additional source material and citing information from your textbook, you will find this website to be helpful in properly citing your sources: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_style_introduction.html (Links to an external site.)

There is a lot of material that is pertinent to this topic; please make sure that you include all relevant information in your paper. For example, if you mention things like case-studies, surveys, the direction of a relationship in a correlation (and you should), you need to go into depth about those in your paper. Also, please know that I am known for being a “hard” grader when it comes to grading papers (consider yourselves warned).

This is an informative, essay-style paper that should be written in standard APA format (concerning references and within-text citations). You do not need to provide a title page, running head, page numbers, etc., but you will need a reference page and within-text citations where appropriate. This paper should be saved as a Microsoft Word document (no other file-types will be accepted), double-spaced, in Times New Roman 12 point font, and 500 words minimum in length. Spelling, grammar, and punctuation do count.

Which prominent personality traits does this patient appear to exhibit?

Read the following case study on a patient who was diagnosed with a personality disorder:
Jodie is a 31-year old woman who comes to you for treatment. She states that the reason she is there is to get her anger under control, and that in her last several relationships with men, she has been guilty of hitting her boyfriends and/or throwing things at them. She states that she doesn’t know why she does this because she ‘really loved all of them.’ During the course of your conversation, you discover that she has been married and divorced three times, and in the last year, has had 4 ‘serious’ relationships. Also, she tells you that she has had two past suicide attempts (pill overdoses) in response to ‘bad breakups’ with various boyfriends and husbands. Jodie is also both a compulsive shopper and compulsive eater. She has been known to max out her credit cards on shopping binges, and she has a habit of binging and purging. She states that she mostly engages in these kinds of behavior when her relationships are ‘getting bad.’ She tells you that when she is in a relationship, it’s very intense and that her whole world looks brighter, yet when the relationship begins to crumble, she goes through periods of intense depression and suicidal thoughts and has even resorted, more than once, to falsely telling her husband/boyfriend that she was pregnant in order to try to salvage the relationship. She states that she has two goals in therapy: to get a handle on her anger issues and to try to resolve these feelings of intense emptiness she has.
Jodie is exhibiting classic symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder and meets most of the criteria outlined in the DSM 5 (she easily meets 6 of the 9 criteria).
Think about what your next steps are to treat Jodie.
After having read the case study, compose 2,000 word paper that thoroughly answers the following questions:
1. Which psychological tests, if any, would you administer to this patient, and why? Be sure to use research and what you have learned to back up your answers.
2. If given the choice, would you apply Freud’s, Erikson’s, Adler’s, or Jung’s theory of personality to describe this patient? Why? Which theory do you feel fits best? Again, be sure to back up your answers with research.
3. In terms of biological traits, which ones might fit best with this patient? Why?
4. What about sexual identity traits?
5. Would you choose to treat this patient behaviorally, cognitively, or humanistically? Why?
6. Which prominent personality traits does this patient appear to exhibit?
7. Provide a summary of your findings and a rudimentary treatment plan for this patient. Be sure to explain your intent.
Your paper should have a title page and a page listing all references and should be formatted in the APA style. In addition, it should include an introduction and conclusion.
Using Sources
You may refer to the course material for supporting evidence, but you must also use at least three credible, outside sources and cite them using APA format. Please include a mix of both primary and secondary sources, with at least one source from a scholarly peer-reviewed journal.

Provide an example of when we might use an alternative shortcut to efficient decision making and argue for why that shortcut would be the most likely shortcut.

Rather than using heuristics, people will use other shortcuts that may result in error. Provide an example of when we might use an alternative shortcut to efficient decision making and argue for why that shortcut would be the most likely shortcut. What is the potential source of error? Justify your response.

Explain to others how social-emotional learning and a positive culture and climate supports academic success and addresses behavioral needs in children within your respective schools/districts.

Elevator Pitch Activity-This will be presented in the virtual classroom this week.

Create of a 2-3 minute elevator pitch that you can use to advocate and bring awareness to the benefits of social-emotional learning and a positive school culture and climate. The goal is to explain to others how social-emotional learning and a positive culture and climate supports academic success and addresses behavioral needs in children within your respective schools/districts. Key highlights of your short pitch should inform and educate colleagues, school administrators, and school board members by discussing some of the following:

-Critical elements that comprise social-emotional learning and positive school culture and climate

-Resources for improving school culture and climate and implementing social-emotional learning interventions

-The relationship between SEL and positive school culture and climate to prevention of bullying, related forms of victimization and mental health issues

–Social-emotional learning and school culture and climate as the key to improving teachers’ effectiveness and a school’s academic success rates

Design your elevator pitch as a tool you can use to present your passion and knowledge for social-emotional learning to leadership and administration in your school/district. The more specific you are to your own professional environment the more you’ll be prepared to present your ideas in both formal and informal settings. For this reason, part of the process of creating your elevator pitch involves carefully thinking about whom you would ultimately need to present your ideas to (such as administrators, other teachers, students, parents, other stakeholders, etc.)

1. Write your original pitch in the first-person and include school name/info as you would deliver it (e.g., “We both know that we need SEL here at Baldwin Middle School for the following reasons…”)

2. Identify who your audience is. Time yourself reading your pitch, so you know it can be delivered in 2-3 minutes

3. In addition to creating your pitch, write a reflection on the process of developing your elevator pitch. Was it challenging, how will you used it, would you feel confident delivering it, etc.?

How does the assessment data of Student X reflect the data at the classroom level?

The chapter discusses the different ways of presenting student results and how that presentation can change our perspective of the data. For example, Student X scored at the 96th percentile on Exam 1, scoring higher than 24 of his 25 classmates. Student X scored a 62% of Exam 1 answering only 62% of the 100 questions correct. As a person now familiar with the various levels of assessment, how does the assessment data of Student X reflect the data at the classroom level? Why is the presentation of Student X’s assessment data as a percentile or % correct matter? Explain your answer using the text for support.

Critique your colleague’s suggested application of resiliency to social work practice, stating whether you might use the strategy in your own practice, and why.

Provide individual responses to two of your colleague’s posts in one or more of the following ways:
• Add to your colleague’s suggestion for applying resiliency to Talia’s case by suggesting an adaptation of the strategy.
• Critique your colleague’s suggested application of resiliency to social work practice, stating whether you might use the strategy in your own practice, and why.
Please respond separately to each colleague’s post. Each post should have a 1/2 page response. There should be a ½ page response to colleague 1’s post and a ½ page response to colleague 2’s post
*Respond as if you are speaking directly to your colleagues*
