Reflect on the video you just watched. What are your thoughts on the information presented.? Identify your social lens as you consider your thoughts. How has systemic racism affected educational attainment and occupational achievement in the United States?

Race and Ethnicity

Watch the following video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrHIQIO_bdQ

Answer the questions:

Reflect on the video you just watched. What are your thoughts on the information presented.?

Identify your social lens as you consider your thoughts. How has systemic racism affected educational attainment and occupational achievement in the United States?

Back up your statements with sources and examples. The idea was presented that employers consciously make decisions about who to call back based on things like a name or perhaps the school you attended (race and ethnicity can often be determined by what neighborhood you grew up in and where you went to school).

What are your thoughts on this idea? Justify your response. Colleges often admit students based on race and ethnicity using a quota system? Do you agree with this system? Justify your response.

Consider the solutions presented at the end of the video. Evaluate these proposed solutions.

Consider using Carmichael & Hamilton’s concept of institutional prejudice and discrimination to justify your answers. Make reference to sociological theory in your response.

Choose either a current federal or a current state issue which is influenced by and/or is influencing psychology ethics. Write a paper in which you discuss the influence of the selected issue.

Psychology ethics

The legal landscape is perpetually changing. Psychologists must remain abreast of these changes to avoid potentially damaging issues to individuals and careers. In this assignment, you will consider the current federal and state legal issues discussed in the last two modules and their influence on psychology ethics.

General Requirements:

Use the following information to ensure successful completion of the assignment:

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Doctoral learners are required to use APA style for their writing assignments. The APA Style Guide is located in the Student Success Center.

This assignment requires that at least two additional scholarly research sources related to this topic, and at least one in-text citation from each source be included.

You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. A link to the LopesWrite technical support articles is located in Class Resources if you need assistance.

Directions:

Choose either a current federal or a current state issue which is influenced by and/or is influencing psychology ethics. Write a paper (1,000-1,200 words) in which you discuss the influence of the selected issue. Include the following in your paper:

-A detailed explanation of the issue.

-A discussion of how the issue influences psychology ethics from an objective (scholarly) perspective.

-A discussion of how the issue influences psychology ethics from a subjective (personal) perspective.

-A discussion of how, if at all, the issue is influenced by current psychology ethics.

Compare the traits you had at the beginning and how they changed by grouping them into categories. Explain the piles you created and how you named them.

PSY305 – Theories of Personality Factor Analysis of Traits

In this exercise, you will perform a non-mathematical factor analysis of people’s personality traits.
This is a simulation of what scientists do (with computers, numbers, and math) to come up with a bunch of traits that do not correlate with one another. Factor analysis is how psychologists came up with the “big five” of traits.
The traits should be “enduring characteristics that describe” that person and while a person does not need to always display that trait, the trait applies to him/her most of the time. For example, you may have the trait of extraversion, but don’t act like an extrovert all of the time.

Instructions:
For this assignment, you will:
• Download and use the form entitled “trait worksheet” for this exercise.

• Choose seven people you know and write five traits that describe their personalities.

• Cut out the traits into little cards.
o You will have a total of 35 cards.
o Some traits will be duplicated so you will have about 10-15 different cards.

• Combine the cards into categories.
o For example, “friendly” and “outgoing” are similar, can be grouped together, and if you had 15 different traits in the first part, you now have 14 traits.
o Continue this exercise until you can’t combine the traits anymore.
• How many piles of traits do you have? Come up with a name for each pile.
o For example, if you had a pile with “friendly” “outgoing” and “gregarious” you might call this pile “friendly” or “social.” There is no one correct name; however, it should describe all traits in the pile.

• Write a few paragraphs describing the traits.
o Compare the traits you had at the beginning and how they changed by grouping them into categories.
o Explain the piles you created and how you named them.
o Give an opinion about how accurate this method is at coming up with a list of traits you chose. What do you think might make it more accurate?

Requirements:
• Incorporate all ideas into your own words.
• Complete your work in a Microsoft Word d

Create an ORIGINAL correlational study to test a hypothesis related to how two of theses concepts relate to each other.

Research methods in psychology

Assignment: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1K3tHb1DgEvDUj3_GawK2jlPSi4IsW0r7ksWHaSKraDI/edit

Create an ORIGINAL correlational study to test a hypothesis related to how two of theses concepts relate to each other.

EXPLAIN THE PATTERN OF RESULTS YOU EXPECT AND WHY YOU EXPECT THIS PATTERN BASED ON READINGS, RESEARCH, LOGIC, OBSERVATION, ETC.

You will likely find it helpful if your hypothesis connects to topics from the readings or lecture (e.g., body image, testosterone, sexuality/close relationships, coping styles). Most important is to make sure it relates to Psychology, and the study is clearly described.

How would psychology/education/counseling professionals benefit (learn) from the findings? How might the results improve knowledge or application in the field? What should psychology professionals “take away” from the findings?

Peer-reviewed journal article

For this assignment, select a peer-reviewed journal article relating to an area of problem solving, decision making, or an intelligence theory that was discussed in class (e.g., fluid or crystalline intelligence, primary/secondary reinforcers, biases, or effective problem-solving strategies).

The article must meet the following criteria:

  • The article must be from a peer-reviewed journal.
  • The article must be obtained from the GCU Library.
  • The article must be a research study, rather than a literature review (i.e., the article has to have methods, results, and discussion sections).
  • The article must utilize a cognitive or behavioral theory, model, or effect.

The purpose of this article review is to get you to think critically about an area of cognition or learning. After reading your chosen article, address the following questions. Use subheadings to differentiate between the various aspects of your review.

Major Findings/Conclusions:

  • Be sure to include the major findings of the study.
  • What conclusions did the researchers draw from the data?

Implications for the Field of Psychology (how the findings could be used/applied in the field):

  • Include how the results of the study can be applied (e.g., why are the findings of the study important?). These may be the implications the authors put forth, or your own ideas (be sure to cite if they are not your ideas).
  • How would psychology/education/counseling professionals benefit (learn) from the findings?
  • How might the results improve knowledge or application in the field? What should psychology professionals “take away” from the findings?

Method/Participants:

  • Describe the basics of how the study was conducted. What procedures were used?
  • Who were the participants?

Strengths/Limitations of the Study:

  • Include at least one strength AND one limitation you saw in the study.
  • Explain why you believe each is a strength or limitation. Hint: study findings are not “strengths” in and of themselves.

The article review should be 1,000-1,250 words. Include a minimum of three scholarly articles.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. A link to the LopesWrite technical support articles is located in Class Resources if you need assistance.

What is your particular methods of boosting your parasympathetic nervous system? What is your surefire method to put your body in complete chill mode.

Discussion 3

REMEMBER: The 350 word is just the MINIMUM, you can go OVER that number and be fine.

The idea is mind blowing isn’t it!? The idea that you have these tiny wires (neurons) crisscrossing your entire body making literally EVERYTHING possible!

1. Tell me something you can compare these neurons to in the big wide world. These wires running through our bodies surely must remind you of something in the world around us.

2. The medical scans! Medical Imaging and Psyc go hand in hand. Its because of these types of medical imaging that we have been able to organize the brain by its roles in life. Have you ever had any of these? Tell me about it! If not ask a family or friend!

So, we are now talking about the more complicated systems of neurons in your body called the the central and peripheral nervous systems.

The parts of the Peripheral Nervous System called the Autonomic Nervous System speak of the Sympathetic and Parasympathetic Nervous System. It’s a quick read in the book.

3. Explain to me a (college safe) time in your life when you felt the Sympathetic nervous system kick in. Doesn’t have to be a life or death situation, but a time that got your body in GO-MODE. Notice the symptoms of the activation.

4. Other side: What is your particular methods of boosting your parasympathetic nervous system? What is your surefire method to put your body in complete CHILL MODE.

Write about the problem from a wider perspective. Does this problem exist elsewhere, and what is the situation? What factors have been reported in the research literature to explain this problem?

1st part of Research Paper

The focus of your proposal must be directly related to School or Mental Health Counseling and based on the research hypothesis and specific research questions which have been approved by me. For this assignment you are required Co review the literature and write the problem statement.

Requirements: 2-3 pages (size 12 font, double-spacing)

You are required to cite at least 5 (five) different peer-reviewed sources for this section.

  1. Begin with a strong statement using facts (including statistical data) that describes the problem, issue or concern that you would like to focus on. (1 paragraph).

This is generally specific to a group or location, among other factors. Do not write in the first person (for example, do not begin your sentences with “I”).

  1. Write about the problem from a wider perspective. Does this problem exist elsewhere, and what is the situation? (2-3 paragraphs)
  2. What factors have been reported in the research literature to explain this problem? (2-3 paragraphs)
  3. What programs, interventions, or treatments have been used to address this problem, based on the peer-reviewed literature? (2-3 paragraphs)
  4. Are those programs, interventions, or treatments fully effective? Quite likely not – the reason you have identified a problem. Therefore, describe what is lacking (in other words, the gap that you want to help to fill). (2-3 paragraphs)
  5. Conclude with a research objective. In other words, given the problem that you have identified, what are you proposing to do for your research project?

Explain the main difference between reinforcement and punishment. Provide an example of Operant conditioning from your life and identify. Provide an example of observational learning from your own life.

Memory Reliability

Part one

To identify operant conditioning and observational learning in your own life.Instructions:

This discussion is lengthy, please take your time as there are a lot of key terms that can get confusing.

  1. Explain the main difference between reinforcement and punishment (hint: think about the main goal of punishment vs. the main goal of reinforcement).
  2. Provide an example of Operant conditioning from your life and identify whether you experienced reinforcement or punishment.
  3. Provide an example of observational learning from your own life
  4. Provide an example of when observational learning is used in the real world and why this method is effective for your example.
  5. Comment on another student’s response to #2. What did you find interesting about their conditioning experience? Do you think they used the key terms (reinforcement vs. punishment) correctly?
  6. 500-700 words

Part two

Goal:

To define differences in memory types and analyze the strengths and weaknesses of eyewitness testimony and how it relates to memory processes.

Instructions:

Answer the following questions:

  1. In your own words, explain short-term memory. Provide an example from your own life.
  2. In your own words, explain long-term memory. Provide an example from your own life,
  3. Explain the difference between recall. recognition, and rehearsal. Provide an example from your own life (you may NOT use examples discussed in the video such as different types of tests).
  4. Discuss one strategy for improving memory you plan to integrate in your own life.
  5. How does the lost-in-the-mall technique relate to eyewitness testimony? Use at least two vocabulary words from the textbook in your answer.
  6. Based on what you learned in the chapter and the videos, should we allow eyewitness testimony in trials? Discuss AT LEAST two reasons why or why not?.
  7. 500-700 words
