Using the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30) as a guide, write an essay describing the call you feel God is making for your life. Think about: What are your talents? How can you use these talents to make the world a better place? In what profession do feel your gifts would best be utilized? In what kind of situations are you like the servant who buried his talents? What do you feel God is calling you to do with your life at this moment? In the future? How can you be sure to hear this call? What if the call you think you hear is not one you wish to follow? How can you help others hear God’s call in their lives?
Use the attached Parable as reference and essay written to expand and fulfill the above requirements for a well written essay.

Religion is a topic often avoided in a work environment because it can be considered taboo by peers and can unfairly impact work relationships (Scheitle & Ecklund, 2017). However, biblical teachings can help find purpose in the workplace. Keller and Alsdorf discussed five specific topics that I found to be the most useful: the goodness of our work, human dignity, work as an act of love, thorns and thistles, and the power of deep rest (2016). The goodness of our work is best described as, “work is as much a basic human need as food, beauty, rest, friendship, prayer…” (Keller & Alsdorf, 2016, p.23). The second topic highlighted is human dignity. Holding onto human dignity in the workplace means, “… despite intellectual and moral errors, one never loses the dignity of being a person” (Sison, Ferrero, & Guitián, 2016, p. 508).The third topic is work as an act of love, emphasizes that work is an opportunity to unify humanity and it is through that desire and love for our society to keep functioning, work becomes an act of love (Keller & Alsdorf, 2016). The fourth topic of thorns and thistles means when one’s quality and effort of work results in something disappointing (Keller & Alsdorf, 2016). The last topic is the power of deep rest, meaning human beings need to reset and take time away from work to help evaluate work properly (Keller & Alsdorf, 2016).
