Discuss possible plans of action or interventions that you as a social service worker might utilize.

Part 1:

This is a research paper about the mistreatment of people with Mental Health issues across the world. This is the original article the paper will be based around.

My tentative thesis statement:

“Decreased socioeconomic status has played a pivotal role in developing nations’ ability to advance care in the mental health field. Many impoverished nations are seeing people with mental health being mistreated, bound, and shackled because of a lack of funding and resources allocated for addressing mental health issues.”

My instructor made these suggestions for body paragraph topics:

1. Poverty increases risk of mental health problems
2. International examples/Poor Government funding impacts medical care
3. Various services available to people in Canada (As an example/model for developing nations).

Part 2:

(your role as a Social Service Worker)
• Intervention(s): Discuss possible plans of action or interventions that you as a social service worker might utilize. Keep your discussion appropriate to the expertise and realities of a front-line worker. Be specific and concrete. Although you would not overload a client with a variety of direct actions or resources, you may discuss several as possibilities. Be realistic — no easy “fix its”.
• Personal Strengths and Limitations: What do you see as your personal strengths and limitations that come into play in this situation? Be specific.
• Resources: Attach, as an appendix, a list of resources you might access in your work with this client.

Explain how you see food being used as a symbol of power or protest.

In this module, we discussed some of the ways in which food is a symbol of power and protest. We also touched on this topic though in previous modules as well, when we talked about issues like the relationship between food and cooking and subordination and food habits as symbols of class. In this discussion post, please share with your peers either
Your own personal experience of food as a tool of power or protest. This experience can be something that you participated in or something that you observed, but it should be a personal story, that it, we are asking you to apply this perspective to your own life experiences. Make sure to provide details of the experience and explain how you see food being used as a symbol of power or protest. (use Topic tag Module 6 – Personal)
Or, tell us about a news event that we haven’t previously covered where food was used as a tool of power or protest. Please explain how food was used in this event. Why did you select this event to share? Has this module changed your perspective on food as a symbol of power or protest? (use Topic tag Module 6 – News Story)

Describe the element in the piece that resonates for you, and why

these essays discuss issues of identity and language, and all include personal elements. Choose at least two of these pieces to compare and contrast. Looking at the two pieces side by side (I suggest you print them!) which do you prefer, and why? Consider describing the way each of them discusses a particular similar subtopic. Additionally, if one (or both) of the pieces resonates for you, please describe the element in the piece that resonates for you, and why. Be sure to cite the pieces that you discuss at the end using the proper APA Citation style. You can find information about how to make the citation at the Online Writing Lab website at Purdue University and also in this week’s area within the course. About 3 pages, double-spaced.

For this assignment, write in the first person, using “I.” Have questions about this assignment? Post them in the discussion area for the assignment. Please include an interesting title with your paper.

Is there a focus on the role of social innovation?

Here are some questions you can ask to spur your thinking:

Are there “threshold lowering” strategies described?
What strategies for “driving the transformation” are available?
What techniques for building resilience are offered?
What bottom-up strategies are described?
Are their top-down strategies as well?
What about “windows of opportunity”?
Is there a focus on the role of social innovation?
Are their stages involved?
Does change proceed through levels of some kind?
Does your guide consider adaptive change as well as transformative change?

Create a brief summary (2 or 3 pages) of your guide’s perspective on change –

bullet lists would be okay but also feel free to use any of the diagrams from their presentations or papers (of course including your understanding of the diagram), or quotations (with your comments.) Highlight differences between your guide’s approach and that of the others. You can of course use the material from previous weeks’ reading/viewing, but also explore the additional material I’ve posted for this week and search for your own. Please include material from at least 2 sources in addition to what we’ve covered already.
