Forensic discipline

This assignment is to write a scholarly research paper that is to be based on a forensic discipline or new forensic field that is using fairly new technology to investigate crime. The paper is to be about Computer Forensics.

The paper is to be in APA format and the body of the paper is to be 8 pages. The body of the paper does not include the title page, abstract page or the reference page. A minimum of ten sources should be used however; scholarly writing typically contains in excess of five references.

EXECUTIVE PRESENTATION

In addition to the report, create a 10–15 slide PowerPoint presentation using MS PowerPoint. You need to use the PPT Template file from your company so that it is consistent with other company visuals.
Use bulleted lists to boil down the main points on the slides. Again, this should also be professional in nature and in a condensed and easy-to-understand format. Use a consistent and professional layout, and be sure to check for spelling and grammar errors before submitting.

Add speaker notes to each slide to include all the facts and figures you want to present and any other notes regarding what should be emphasized by the speaker.

As a reminder, the deliverables for this week are:
Word document: A summary (not a cut and paste) of your previous three deliverables, including the overview of the company, the process flow, and the business requirements including the budgetary requests for the project.

A PowerPoint slide presentation of 10–15 slides with professional slides and speaker notes.

American Government Media

Find three recent news articles related to American government.

For each article, write a brief summary (no more than a few sentences) and then write about how the article ties to the concepts we’ve discussed in class thus far.

Write about how each article supports or refutes what we’ve learned in class about participation, political culture, public opinion, or the media. (About 900 words)

Submit a written document to summarize what you have created for your part of the project. Include an outline of the company as you understand it, including your product and the players on the team.

SUMMARY REPORT AND EXECUTIVE PRESENTATION

The CEO has requested a presentation to the board from your part of the team. You will put together a report summarizing everything you’ve created so far for your part of the project. Outline the material about the company as you understand it, including all about our product and the players on the team. Then include all your plans and the business requirements from your part of the team, which is the most important part of this project. Without you, the board of directors won’t likely approve the budget and this project will fail. (No pressure.)

After you’ve created the report, we’ll need a 10–15 slide PowerPoint presentation. Use MS PowerPoint as the boss doesn’t have anything else on the machine that has been issued by the company.
Use bulleted lists to boil down the main points on the slides, and use the speaker notes to include all the facts and figures you want to present. You won’t have to present this at the board meeting because the boss wants to present it personally. So make sure it’s a good presentation with a professional layout. We’re all counting on you to make or break the project.

Instructions
This assignment contains two parts: a summary report and a presentation.

Summary Report
For the summary report, submit a written document to summarize what you have created for your part of the project. This includes the following:

Analyze the information and data in the scenario to determine the client’s problem, requirements and constraints. Analyze the key elements of three of the technologies and processes that the client currently uses, to ensure you understand them.

FinBiz Consulting

Information about the client organisation FinBiz Consulting works with other businesses, government departments and the non-profit sector, consulting on financial and business services. This includes share trading through the Australian Stock Exchange and utilising external experts when needed. FinBiz Consulting has also recently won a tender for a large project and has partnered with an overseas team on other projects.

A new Managing Director has recently joined FinBiz Consulting and has decided to modernise the workplace as the organisation’s current ways of working are outdated. This includes integrating different systems and implementing flexible working arrangements. FinBiz Consulting conducted a survey amongst staff members, which found that over 80% of staff members would like to work from home at least two days per week.

The current technologies and practices FinBiz Consulting uses include the following:

  • Managing projects using the waterfall method.
  • Licensed software installed on workstations.
  • Multiple servers on the premises.
  • Using a spreadsheet for the IT support ticketing system.
  • Most staff members are in the head office in traditional office space, although there are some small branches in other locations.
  • All teams are separated, communication and collaboration between teams is almost non-existent.
  • Many parts of the organisation (different locations and departments) have developed their own systems.

The Managing Director would like to see the changes implemented over two years. They are also concerned that some of their staff members may not have adequate skills to cope with new technology. In addition, FinBiz Consulting has several staff members who have vision and hearing disabilities and they want to ensure the accessibility of any new systems.

Essay

In 500 words or fewer, tell us the story of why you decided to become a software or data engineer. Many people from non-traditional backgrounds find it challenging to pursue this path. Since making the decision, what challenges have you faced in achieving this goal? Which of those challenges have you overcome and how?

(Note: while imposter syndrome is real, it’s a very common experience and therefore a very common answer to this prompt. We encourage you to tell us something unique about your experience that will help us get to know and understand you!).

When you’re searching for contractors, consultants, business partners, software, and hardware, what are some methods you use? What method do you use for keeping track of your contacts and leads? Once you have a list of resources, how do you decide which to recommend to your company to select for your project?

SELECTING OUTSIDE SERVICES

When you’re searching for contractors, consultants, business partners, software, and hardware, what are some methods you use? Be very specific and detailed in how you research these resources and give more than one example (contractor and software search, for example).
What method do you use for keeping track of your contacts and leads?
Once you have a list of resources, how do you decide which to recommend to your company to select for your project? (If you have never done this, research a methodology and report on how you plan to do it.)

If you are selecting contractors, consultants, or other human resources, recommend an interview process and gather the costs.
If you are looking at software, hardware, or other non-human resources, talk about how you determine the most value to the company for the money. The company is making an investment; how do you determine the best investment for the greatest return? (Be specific on the methodology you use or would use.)
After responding to the above, write an additional paragraph on why you think your recommendation should be followed and how you can be confident that your recommendation is best for your organization.

Create tables, views, and stored procedures. Explain steps required to copy a database. Explain steps required to attach and detach a database. Explain steps required to import data from external sources. Utilizing SQL Profiler explain steps required to correctly baseline a database.

Employee Training Manual for WeWin Legal Services

The purpose of this assessment is to demonstrate an understanding of how data and information can be used to help an organization make data driven decisions
11-16 page Employee Training Manual for WeWin Legal Services.
As a database administrator, it is important to be familiar with the various types of databases and database management systems available and be able to distinguish between rational data models, schemas, manipulations, and attributes. Being familiar with these tools will allow you to perform common maintenance tasks that will be required to improve the performance and functionality of your database. In addition, it will allow you to take the appropriate steps to secure your database, protect the integrity of data, and ensure that your system is scalable and can support future growth.
For this assessment, you will be assuming the role of database administrator for WeWin Legal Services.
You will be evaluating the existing database environment and will be making recommendations for configuration and optimization with the goal of improving performance.
The organization has been very successful and continues to grow. You are planning on hiring a new employee to help you manage the database. In preparation for your new hire, you will create a training manual for your new employees that provides detailed information on how to manage and administer the database.
Specifically you should include guidance on how to:
● Create tables, views, and stored procedures.
● Explain steps required to copy a database.
● Explain steps required to attach and detach a database.
● Explain steps required to import data from external sources.
● Utilizing SQL Profiler explain steps required to correctly baseline a database.
In addition, you will want to include an introduction that describes your plans of incorporating GIS into the database along with a description of how GIS can be used within the organization.

Identify the problem to be solved or the document to be created. Identify why the problem should be solved or why the document should be created. Propose you have generated in the appropriate level of detail. Show the benefits of your solution and/or document.

Rhetorical analysis of paper – and outline

The purpose behind a proposal is to develop skills that show a high degree of consideration for your audience, and establish a strong persuasive argument that is well articulated. A well formulated proposal will also outline and define the goals you are going to complete for the client you have chosen.

For this assignment, I would like you to look up information in your current field of study, and what kinds of problems and documents are frequently used “on the job” to “resolve” those problems. If you cannot think of a “problem” you should at least be able to figure out a type of document your professional field would need and propose how you would create it. The assignment will take form of a “packet” similar to your job packet assignment, where you will have multiple documents you must complete.

The assignment “packet” should contain: 1) a proposal (2-3 double spaced pages), 2) an outline of the project (2 ½ to 3 double spaced pages), and 3) a rhetorical analysis for that project (1 ½ to 3 pages).

Be sure to use a standardized format for the proposal that is outlined in the samples I have created and added into the modules for you. There are also a sample proposals in our Canvas site which correspond to this assignment to help you with formatting. Feel free to experiment with style, but make sure you keep in mind “good” technical communication and make sure that the document is readable and efficient.

You are to compose a proposal that will persuade your client to accept and potentially fund your technical document, and outline for how you will complete that project, and a rhetorical situation analysis where, you look at how you will create your project, and allow it to meet the needs of the situation. What you propose in the proposal MUST BE A TECHNICAL DOCUMENT, and not a random large project.

Make sure that your proposal is doing the following:
Is at least 2-3 double spaced pages in 12 point, Times New Roman Font
Identify the problem to be solved or the document to be created.
Identify why the problem should be solved or why the document should be created.
Propose you have generated in the appropriate level of detail.
Show the benefits of your solution and/or document.
Call the audience to action for your project.

Construct your proposal in paragraph format with properly formed headings (in a manner similar to your previous memo assignments). Simplicity with this type of document will be key to the client’s acceptance. Make sure that you include any lists of items that you may need in the document, because that can help to draw the focus of the client. Add any headings that you feel would be beneficial for keeping your client on track with your ideas. For some projects these items might not be necessary in the initial stages, but including them shows attention to audience awareness.
