Write a 1-paragraph summary that describes how you want to remix the position you took in your position paper.

Remix plan 2

STEP 1: Revisit the assignment sheet for this major assignment and read the “Remix Plan: A How-To” section on pages 192-193 in Chapter 6 of your textbook. Be sure, also, to read the student sample Remix Plans on pages 194-195.

STEP 2: Write a 1-paragraph summary that describes how you want to remix the position you took in your position paper. This paragraph will serve as your “Proposal Abstract” (page 192 of your textbook).

STEP 3: Complete the steps described in “Analyzing Situations: A How-To” (page 197) in your textbook. Write a one-paragraph description of the situation that you hope to change. Include your rationale behind your choice of situation. Remember that smaller-scale situations are often more easily changed and you cannot effectively analyze an audience until you’ve identified a specific situation.

STEP 4: Complete the steps described in “Analyzing Audiences: A How-To” in Chapter 6 (page 198) of your textbook. Write a one-paragraph description of the audience that you hope to target with your Remixed Position. Include your rationale behind your choice of audience. Remember that you will need to identify an incredibly specific audience that has the power to make the change you’re seeking and you cannot effectively analyze mode or media without identifying a specific audience.

STEP 5: Complete the steps described in “Analyzing Modes: A How-To” in Chapter 6 (page 200) of your textbook. Write a one-paragraph description of the mode or modes that you hope to target beyond the written word with your Remixed Position. Include your rationale behind your choice of modes. Remember that you will need to remix your writing into a multimodal composition that pairs writing with meaningful sounds, visuals, gestures, or spaces.

STEP 6: Complete the steps described in “Analyzing Media: A How-To” in Chapter 6 (page 202) of your textbook. Write a one-paragraph description of the medium that you want to use to bring about change to the situation, reach your audience, and support your modes of communication. Include your rationale behind your choice of media platform. Be specific.

STEP 7: Assemble your paragraphs from Steps 2-6 above to create a 5-paragraph remix plan. Ensure that you have all the parts of a remix plan:

  • Your proposal abstract
  • Your rationale for the situation you are choosing
  • Your rationale for the audience you are choosing
  • Your rationale for the mode you are choosing
  • Your rationale for the medium you are choosing to deliver your remixed composition
  • Your request for approval

Discuss a piece of news that came out regarding the country over the course of the week leading up to that Friday.

Piece of news

In the first paragraph, discuss a piece of news that came out regarding the country over the course of the week leading up to that Friday. The news source is up to you.

After the first paragraph where you discuss the piece of news, write another paragraph analyzing the news source that you used: what is the audience targeted by that news source; can you identify any inherent biases that news source may have (for example: do they have an agenda and if so, what is it; who is their target audience; do they have a particular political leaning; do they express the views of the owner, who is the owner and what are their views; are they pro- or against a particular country or policy issue). This second paragraph can be shorter, sometimes a couple of sentences may suffice as long as the required content is covered. If you use the same source of news for a subsequent Friday news post, you may copy-paste the second paragraph where you analyze the news source.

Required Research
In order to answer the questions, you will first engage in a process of scholarly research for the purpose of obtaining data that can be utilized to support your answers. Conduct in-depth research in the course textbook AND outside primary sources.

It is strongly recommended that you conduct research utilizing the ERAU Hunt Library. The Hunt Library contains a great amount of information on aviation and other topics. A benefit of utilizing the Hunt Library is the availability of the APA style citation/reference tool that is provided when conducting research utilizing the EAGLEsearch feature. This tool can automatically provide the proper APA style formats for citations and references.

Apply one of these models to your personal example and explain when each pitfall or stage occurred. Discuss the positive or negative outcome of your team.

Models (Bion or Tuckman)

All of us have been assigned on a team in order to solve a problem, perform an extra duty of some kind or to attend a special school with others. State which type of team (based on Table 2.2 in our chapter reading) you were on (project, work, matrix, parallel, etc.) and explain why it is that type. Think about a time when you were in this team situation and discuss the stages your team progressed through.

Use either Bion’s four possible pitfalls that need to be worked through in groups and teams or use the Tuckman model which outlines stages we move through during team change. Apply one of these models to your personal example and explain when each pitfall or stage occurred. Finally, discuss the positive or negative outcome of your team.
