1) Michelle needed money to pay her rent. She is behind 3 months in rent and fears being evicted. She decides to rob Capital One Bank. Michelle asks her roommate Cheryl to help her. They agree to split the money 60% Michelle and 40% for Cheryl. This was based on the fact that Cheryl was going to only purchase the items necessary to commit the crime, like the gun and ski mask, and agreed to be the lookout at the bank. Cheryl purchased a gun and ski mask early in the week. Midweek, she stopped into the local pub for a few drinks. She began telling the bartender about her plan to get money. The bartender said nothing. Later that week, before the robbery was to take place, Michelle and Cheryl went to get their nails done. While at the nail salon, they were arrested. As the prosecutor, with what crimes can you charge Michelle and Cheryl? Do their actions constitute the crime of attempt? Discuss why or why not. Use legal reasoning to support your response.

2) April and Troy have been unhappily married for years. April wanted a divorce, but Troy feared April would get too much of his money and the marital home. He decided it was best to kill her. Module 2 Readings

For the Module 2 readings, like in Module 1, we are focusing on the basic substantive concepts of Machine Learning as a subset discipline of Artificial Intelligence.

The Alpaydin MIT book is a great introduction to the topic, and over this and next Module we will be reading the book and highlighting the various components of machine learning. When reading the book, note the various components of ML: algorithms, data structures, mathematics, applications, etc. See how they are all related and are ultimately organized into a viable ML process, set of algorithms, and product in order to solve a specific problem.

Remember, in computer science our goal is to solve problems, whether they are mathematical, scientific, medical, business or related to another discipline.

Also remember Occam’s Razer when dealing with creating ML solutions. The simplist solutions are usually the best. (Especially when complexity increases software risk!!!). The brief overview is to remind you of this vital universal engineering (and life) principle.

The Brighterion white paper goes over the intersection between AI and ML. In this directed study we will read many white papers, as our goal with ML is to develop solutions to problems for industry. As a computer science and AI professional we must keep up with industry and its developments as well as the companies that are leading the AI/ML edge.

Jay and Sue Kim, ages 29 and 26 years and married for 2 years, immigrated from South Korea and settled in Los Angeles. They have lived in a small one-bedroom apartment since their arrival. Both graduated from the same Korean university with baccalaureate degrees in English literature. They have one child, Joseph, age 1 year. When they arrived in the United States, Jay was unable to find a job because of his poor proficiency in English, despite his major in English literature. He eventually obtained a job with a moving company through a church friend. Sue is not working because of their son. Although the Kim’s did not attend a church before immigration, they are now regularly attending a Korean Protestant church in their neighborhood.

Sue is pregnant again, determined by a home pregnancy kit, with their second child and concerned about the medical costs. They did not use any contraceptives because she was breastfeeding. Because of financial limitations, Sue did not initially have prenatal care with her first pregnancy. However, she did keep up with the Korean traditional prenatal practice, tae-kyo. Eventually, she received help from her church and delivered a healthy son. She is not sure whether she can get financial help from her church again but is confident that her second child will be healthy if she follows the Korean traditional prenatal practices.

Jay is concerned about job security because he recently heard from colleagues that the moving company might soon go bankrupt. Although Jay has not been satisfied with his current job (he thinks that he is overqualified), this news is still a cause for concern. Moreover, Sue’s recent pregnancy has made Jay more stressed, and he has started drinking alcohol. Joseph cannot stand up by himself and still wants to be breastfed. Although Sue has tried to give foods such as oranges, apples, steamed rice, and milk (because she is now pregnant), Joseph refuses to eat them and cries for breastfeeding. Joseph’s weight is low-normal for same-age babies.

Directions

For this assignment, you will pick one recommended screening from the United States Preventive Task Force A and B Recommendations.

Theory or Conceptual Model

Population Screening Purpose
