Lesson plan Promoting Mathematical Thinking

Design an original mathematics lesson plan for the K-5 grade level of your choice that promotes critical thinking and problem-solving. Using your state’s math standards and the “Class Profile” as resources, design an original lesson using the “COE Lesson Plan Template.”

In the Multiple Means of Expression section, include five questions that align to the lesson objective the teacher can pose to students.

The questions should:

Activate prior knowledge.
Identify potential student misconceptions that could interfere with learning.
Connect concepts, procedures, and applications.
Encourage critical thinking, exploration, and problem-solving.
The Multiple Means of Engagement section include opportunities for students to consider real-world application, prior knowledge, and the steps to solve a problem.

Create a board that is filled with words which are then scrambled and presented to the user, who rotates the rows and columns to try and get the original words displayed in the right order on the board.

Write C++code without using classes

Create a board that is filled with words which are then scrambled and presented to the user, who rotates the rows and columns to try and get the original words displayed in the right order on the board. Write a C++ program to do Unscrambler by not using classes, testing it in Zybooks section 9.23.
Random numbers are used throughout the program, so when you run it on your own machine versus interactively within Zybooks the output will likely be different, since the sequence of random numbers will be different. On the other hand, running the test cases should give you the same output every time. Read the notes below very carefully to minimize frustration that occurs when the sequence of random numbers generated is different from what is expected.

Write an essay in which you make an argument about the this story and how it relates to libertarianism, meritocracy or egalitarianism, and the merits/flaws with that system.

What do we deserve

In “What Do We Deserve?”, Namit Arora considers the problems that emerge when we confuse economic and social outcomes with merit or worth; in other words, when we assume that economic or social outcomes equate to “moral desert” (59). Such misperceptions are an outcome of stories of social mobility that are central to American culture, and Arora argues that resisting these misperceptions requires “telling new kinds of stories” (59). Locate a story of economic justice (or injustice) and analyze it in order to discover the lessons in fairness and deserving that it imparts. Write an essay in which you make an argument about the this story and how it relates to libertarianism, meritocracy or egalitarianism, and the merits/flaws with that system. Your example could be factual (a story of a small-time investor who made it big in crypto-currency) or fictional (a story of a grasshopper who loved to party even when the ants didn’t). Your essay should apply specific ideas and quotes from Arora as a lens to help you analyze your selected example and what it tells us about economic justice and fairness. You will need at least three sources, minimum one for the story and two backing up claims with facts.

Discuss how do you see the construction equipment will be advanced in the future, is the hybrid or electrical construction equipment the trend or the right direction to go.

Discussion Forum 4

In the next 20 years, it’s possible that all the backhoes, excavators, dozers, graders, and other heavy equipment we use on construction sites will move away from diesel engines to all-electric. For years, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been enacting stricter emissions standards for nonroad diesel engines like those used in construction. Read the following references and discuss the listed questions in your post.

The purpose of this online discussion is for us to get to better understand the future advancement of the construction equipment. Begin by clicking on the button below, labeled "Add a new discussion topic." Please enter your name on the Subject line. To get full credit for this discussion, you have to create at least one discussion topic addressing all questions and reply to at least one of your classmates' discussion topic.

In which race and ethnic groups is DM more prevalent? Based on C.B. clinical manifestations, please compile the signs and symptoms that she is exhibiting that are compatible with the Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 diagnosis.

Case Study

Endocrine Function:
C.B. is a significantly overweight, 48-year-old woman from the Winnebago Indian tribe who had high blood sugar and cholesterol levels three years ago but did not follow up with a clinical diagnostic work-up. She had participated in the state’s annual health screening program and noticed that her fasting blood sugar was 141 and her cholesterol was 225. However, she felt “perfectly fine at the time” and could not afford any more medications. Except for a number of “female infections,” she has felt fine until recently. Today, she presents to the Indian Hospital general practitioner complaining that her left foot has been weak and numb for nearly three weeks and that the foot is difficult to flex. She denies any other weakness or numbness at this time. However, she reports that she has been very thirsty lately and gets up more often at night to urinate. She has attributed these symptoms to the extremely warm weather and drinking more water to keep hydrated. She has gained a total of 65 pounds since her last pregnancy 14 years ago, 15 pounds in the last 6 months alone.

Gastrointestinal Function:
R.H. is a 74-year-old black woman, who presents to the family practice clinic for a scheduled appointment. She complains of feeling bloated and constipated for the past month, some-times going an entire week with only one bowel movement. Until this episode, she has been very regular all of her life, having a bowel movement every day or every other day. She reports straining most of the time and it often takes her 10 minutes at a minimum to initiate a bowel movement. Stools have been extremely hard. She denies pain during straining. A recent colonoscopy was negative for tumors or other lesions. She has not yet taken any medications to provide relief for her constipation. Furthermore, she reports frequent heartburn (3–4 times each week), most often occur-ring soon after retiring to bed. She uses three pillows to keep herself in a more upright position during sleep. On a friend’s advice, she purchased a package of over-the-counter aluminum hydroxide tablets to help relieve the heartburn. She has had some improvement since she began taking the medicine. She reports using naproxen as needed for arthritic pain her hands and knees. She states that her hands and knees are extremely stiff when she rises in the morning. Because her arthritis has been getting worse, she has stopped taking her daily walks and now gets very little exercise.
