Feminist Citizenship in the 21st Century

What does it mean to be a feminist global citizen in the 21st century? Perhaps it means to be someone who does the work of feminist advocacy with a “global feminist consciousness that challenges the interplay of patriarchal, capitalist, and racist power relations” (Reilly, 2007, p. 184).For this research report and presentation, you will be reporting on a group or organization that is doing the work of feminist advocacy. As part of the project, you will be doing research on the issue the group focuses on. (Note: if your organization is large and works on many issues, choose ONE to research and write about for this report.) Your organization can be local, national, or global in scope.

Introduction of Group/Organization (1/2 page to 1 page): Introduce organization (Tell us what we need to know about this organization. You might think about questions like: who are they?, when were they founded?, what do they do generally?, what is their reputation?, etc. )

Discussion of problem/issue (approximately 2-3 pages): What is the problem or issue that the group is working on? Why is this issue important? Describe the problem/issue thoroughly. Do RESEARCH. (To support your discussion of the problem, do not rely on the group’s website for information. Do your own research.)

Discussion of group’s advocacy strategies/solutions (approximately 2-3 pages): You might think about answering questions like: What is your group doing to solve the problem? What kinds of actions are they engaging in? What strategies are they using to encourage change? What solutions do they offer?Grading Criteria for Research Report (THESE ARE THE REQUIREMENTS):

-Does it contain the three required sections?

-Is the information in the three sections useful? Are the topics well covered?

-Is the report well written with well-constructed sentences and very few grammatical and spelling errors?
