Do we have an obligation to future generations to change the way we are impacting the planet? What about an obligation to other species on Earth? Why or why not?

Chasing Ice Discussion

Consider and comment on what you knew about climate change and the climate crisis before watching the film. Have your ideas shifted or changed? How? In what ways?

Balog admits that he was previously skeptical about humans’ ability to alter the chemistry of the air we breathe, but he changed his mind after learning new information about the history of our climate. Why is this process of re-evaluating your ideas based on new information so important? Why do you think that some people have a difficult time integrating new information into their knowledgebase?

The effects of our changing climate are already being felt in our daily lives. In what ways have you experienced and/or been impacted by the climate crisis? Where have you seen the effects?

There is an important relationship between the arts and sciences. Chasing Ice is a good example of how leveraging this relationship can be a more effective way to present conceptually challenging information. What other opportunities can you identify to bring together the arts and sciences around the topic of the climate crisis? What are some challenges you can identify?

Do we have an obligation to future generations to change the way we are impacting the planet? What about an obligation to other species on Earth? Why or why not?

There are many reasons why well-meaning and informed people do not always act in accordance with their intentions and beliefs. What prevents you from acting on the climate crisis? What about the university, what do you think prevents North Carolina Central University from taking action on the climate crisis? How might we address these individual and institutional challenges that prevent us from taking action?

Research Journal Article

The understanding and use of informatics in nursing has become an integral part of providing patient care and the use of such as been shown to promote positive patient outcomes. (Aacn, pg.7).  It is essential that the preparation of student nurses include exposure to the use of informatics across the lifespan and across the healthcare continuum.  The intent of the research article assignment is to expose the student nurse to the dynamic impact informatics is having on nursing.  The research assignment will be submitted through safe-assign on blackboard.

Completion of this assignment includes writing a 400 – 500word paper in APA format.

Where are you looking to anticipate the next change to your business model or your life?  Who are you spending time with? On what topics? Where are you traveling? What are you reading?

Discussion Forum 4 Response

What it takes to be a great leader by Roselinde Torres
Answer one of the following questions from the video (remember to identify the question you are answering):
Where are you looking to anticipate the next change to your business model or your life?  Who are you spending time with? On what topics? Where are you traveling? What are you reading? And then how are you distilling this into understanding potential discontinuities, and then making a decision to do something right now so that you’re prepared and ready?
What is the diversity measure of your personal and professional stakeholder network? If your network is not diverse what can you do to increase it’s diversity? You know, we hear often about good ol’ boy networks and they’re certainly alive and well in many institutions. But to some extent, we all have a network of people that we’re comfortable with. So this question is about your capacity to develop relationships with people that are very different than you. And those differences can be biological, physical, functional, political, cultural, socioeconomic. And yet, despite all these differences, they connect with you and they trust you enough to cooperate with you in achieving a shared goal. Great leaders understand that having a more diverse network is a source of pattern identification at greater levels and also of solutions, because you have people that are thinking differently than you are.

Create the off-season, pre-season and in-season phases/cycles for the athlete using the principles of periodization. When completing the worksheet, be sure to include appropriate scholarly, peer-reviewed references.

52 week long training plan overview

For this assignment we are creating a 52-week training program for the athlete from the previous assignment which I have attached and labeled assignment 1. The main goal is to utilize periodization assuming the last competition or tournament is after week 52. The recommend method is to work backwards from the last week. A link has been provided to better explain periodization. Submit in the same format as assignment 1.

For Assignments 3 and 4 you will be developing the details including the specific training variables, workouts, and competitions so you do not need to include those details yet.

• Create the off-season, pre-season and in-season phases/cycles for the athlete using the principles of periodization.

• Phases/cycles should include the duration of each part of the yearly plan with the number of weeks that each part is followed, and an overview of the relative volume, intensity, and energy systems emphasized.

• The rationale must be explained in at least one paragraph for each phase and/or cycle. Furthermore, any assessments planned during or following each phase should be explained with a detailed rationale (and supporting references).

• You are required to provide a chart for each “season” of the schedule as way of organizing it. The “details” of each season will be filled in during Assignments 3 and 4.

• Ue at least 5 appropriate outside sources to help you develop this program. The worksheet, including visuals must be submitted as a single WORD document, with citations and references in APA format.

• When completing the worksheet, be sure to include appropriate scholarly, peer-reviewed references. Refer to the sample document if you need a refresher on how to include in-text citations within your worksheet.

• Be creative

The worksheet must include:

1. Minimum 5 appropriate peer-reviewed references

2. In-text APA citations & a reference list

3. Written in a scholarly tone

4. Charts/graphs (or other visuals)

Spooky Music Discussion

As we come into the end of October, we have reached the “Romantic” era of music. Much of the music you will be learning about this week is much more dramatic and written to tell a story.

This week we will have a music share discussion worth 10 points:

Share a piece of music that tells a story that is a bit spooky, sinister, creepy or scary  (but can be from movie)
