What view of United States history is presented by adding these diverse perspectives?

Throughout the course you have been viewing episodes from a variety of documentaries that present the history of diverse groups for information about their experiences and history, but you have also been assessing each film in your video journals for how they reflect the ways that each minority group faced challenges to their identity, and the strategies they used to protect their identity and use institutions to work towards equal rights in American society.  Now that we have reached the end of the semester and you have watched all the assigned episodes, you will think and reflect on the entirety of the films, intended for a popular audience, and critique how they present the history of identities and institutions in the American past.

In a short reflective essay (1-2 pages) consider the strengths and weaknesses of the documentaries we have viewed.  What view of United States history is presented by adding these diverse perspectives?  Were these films able to balance showing the challenges faced by diverse groups in American history as well as the strategies they used to affirm their identity, ie how should documentaries balance stories of discrimination versus stories of agency?

Advise them of the best business model and include in your advice why they should chose it.    Describe the possible advantages and the legal dangers that can be encountered in business.

From the selection of essay questions below select ONE.   Where multiple questions are answered only the first one will be graded.

All answers must contain references to legal authority wherever a point of law is made. Use the alpha-numeric system of referencing at page 4 of the Oscola Referencing Guide for case law and statutory authorities. All other references will use the Harvard system standard to University of Lincoln referencing.

Do ensure that all references are properly cited to avoid high Turnitin readings. Law essays often give high Turnitin readings but proper referencing makes it easy for those marking to account for this.

Q1.      Alfonse is a keen art collector and is eager to buy a statue he has seen in a dealer’s gallery catalogue.  The statue is of a young female dancer and would appear to be by Degas.   On Monday he goes to see the dealer and asks to see the statue.

Upon examination of it he asks the dealer “if this is a genuine Degas, should it not be numbered”.  The dealer says “if it is not, I will not only return the price you pay for it but I will give you £5,000 for your trouble”.

On Wednesday he returns to the shop and the dealers partner is there.  He says he has come to pick up the statue and pays her the £80,000  taking the statue with hm when he leaves.   The following day an associate of Alphonse tells him the statue is a very clever fake almost indistinguishable from the original.  He takes the statue back to the shop and asks the dealer for £85,000 to be paid to him for its return.

Use four murals to create a narrative of the Mexican Revolution.

I. My Story of the Mexican Revolution
Use four murals (by any muralist) to create a narrative of the Mexican Revolution. Your narrative can be about one of the following topics: love, class struggle, breaking free from an oppressed system, finding a loved one, losing a good friend, losing a battle.

Make sure that your narrative sticks to the theme of the Revolution, but with your own point of view. Give the characters a name and add dates spanning the Revolution (1910-1920).
Employ different time tenses and rely on the content of the murals (background, color, actions, movements, etc.) to further elaborate your story.

As a refresher, reread Abbott’s article on Narrative and Life, where he tells us that “…narrative is the principal way in which our species organizes its understanding of time (3). And so here you want to organize your own story of the Mexican Revolution with the help of four murals.

Your narrative should be at least two pages long; make it double spaced and add the murals with their respective names.
