Were people who contributed less than the mean of the group in any round punished more than those who contributed more than the mean? In other words, was there a norm for contributions (the mean) which was such that if you contributed less you were punished?

Punishment

Write a report that answers the questions below. You will be judged on how well you present your arguments and the strategy you use to answer the questions.

1) In the experiment there were two groups of 5. Was there learning over the 10 rounds of the experiment?

2) Were the contributions higher in the treatment with punishment as compared to those without punishment in the first and last five rounds (I.e., compare rounds 1-10 with and without punishment and then rounds 11-20 with and without punishment)?

3) Were people who contributed less than the mean of the group in any round punished more than those who contributed more than the mean? In other words, was there a norm for contributions (the mean) which was such that if you contributed less you were punished?

4) What was the reaction of people who were punished? I.e., in the round following a punishment did people increase or decrease their contribution?

5) Classify people into two groups: Punishers and non-punishers. (Use your own classification. ) Were the payoffs of those who you classified as punishers greater or smaller than those who were not classified that way taking into account their cost of punishment?

In a short essay of no more than 300 words, take a stand “for” or “against” the global proliferation of the mid-rise BIM building.

162 HEINRICH HU ̈ BSCH

The readings make a case for an understanding of global culture over universal design – even if that global culture is partly digital or virtual. A “global culture” approach might require a careful calibration or attention to local circumstances – contexts as sources of history, memory, belonging, climate, carpentry, and so on.

With the cooperation and integration of BIM, architecture is moving quickly towards a new normative architecture (attached pic). This architecture’s ubiquity is tied to the availability of parts and ease of construction, but also to the pervasive use of Revit as a design tool.

In a short essay of no more than 300 words, take a stand “for” or “against” the global proliferation of the mid-rise BIM building. You may make technical or functional points to support your argument, but you must also convincingly use the Frampton or Sassen reading to persuade, or make, your case.

Evaluate how Heineken competes in the global beer industry using concepts and tools from the course.

Heineken Case Study

Evaluate how Heineken competes in the global beer industry using concepts and tools from the course. Specifically, distinguish Heineken the brand from Heineken the product, and discuss specific business, corporate, and international level strategies and methods Heineken has used to expand and compete – and why you believe it did so, use relevant quantitative and qualitative information from the case and the concepts/tools from the course.

Students are individually responsible for submitting a written analysis of the Heineken case, worth 10% of the overall grade. The written case analysis must be written as an essay that addresses the points/prompts for the case above (see 1st paragraph).

To clarify, the assignment is for a coherent and well-organized written essay, not just answers to the individual questions. The written case analysis must be in Times New Roman, 12pt font, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins, and should not exceed 3 pages of written material, not including exhibits, charts, or tables. Quotes or exhibits from the case or the textbook should be cited appropriately. No external sources should be used. The written analysis is due. No late assignments will be accepted.

How fast on average does a cashier serve a customer in our shop? Have you spotted any outlier in the collected service data? If yes, did you include (or exclude) those outliers when coming up the average, and why?

Excel Modelling and Individual Report – The University of Puddletown’s Students’ Union Shop

Description of the assignment:

Background

(Any similarities to the student shop at the University of Hertfordshire are entirely coincidental. This is a fictional example.)

The Students’ Union Shop is trying to work out how many cashiers it needs to employ in order to provide an adequate service level. Customers at the shop line up in a single queue and are called forward to pay for their purchases when a till becomes free. To help determine the busy times of the day, the shop has recorded the number of customers arriving at the tills in each 5-minute interval during the shop’s opening hours, from 8am until 6pm (N.B. this is the number who actually make a purchase and does not include customers who are just browsing). Records for a period of 5 weeks are available. All the data were collected during term time.

The shop usually functions with just three cashiers but it has the capacity to support up to 6. The shop is open for approximately 50 weeks each year. The management has also collected data about the time it takes for cashiers to take payment. These data come from term time and 1000 records are available. Management are concerned that customers wishing to buy food, in particular, may be going to other outlets within the university such as the Big Ears Sandwich Shop or the Noddy Bar. Management are also concerned about the turnover of their staff and would like to reduce their stress and also stop them getting bored. They would be interested to hear about any innovative operating strategies for doing this.

You are employed as a consultant for the Students’ Union Shop. The shop management would like to hear insights from you, but does have a few specific questions they would like to ask. These are

  • What is the average customer arrival rate per hour based on the current data?
  • The management reckons there are more customers during the lunch break, and would like you to look into this matter. Could you spot any busier period during the day? If so, what are the busier hours?
    • What is the average customer arrival rate per hour during busier period?
    • What is the average customer arrival rate per hour during quieter period?
  • How fast on average does a cashier serve a customer in our shop?
    • Have you spotted any outlier in the collected service data? If yes, did you include (or exclude) those outliers when coming up the average, and why?
  • How many cashiers does the shop need to have a reasonable performance?
    • When taking the average daily arrival? Would you consider the average daily arrival a good measure for cashier arrangement, and why?
    • During busier period if observed?
    • During quieter period if observed?

The shop management is also interested in hearing your thoughts on how the adoption of business analytics in general could positively impact the shop performance. (For students who participant in the Young Enterprise competition AND wish to work this part in their YE group, please see alternative arrangement here.) They would appreciate that you keep this part under 2 pages.

List the keywords for the selected article as given in the document itself. Explain the thesis of the article and how that relates back to expertise and being an effective expert.

GPS Mapping Mission description

This mission requires you to map the NJIT database using the search tool provided on the library main page. Please review this video by my colleague Cristo Leon, that describes our research into the GPS model and how it can be used to assist content analysis and organization.

Links to an external site.  https://njit.webex.com/recordingservice/sites/njit/recording/cb3aef073385103ba7be005056818805/playback

NOTE: This is used to show how to work wiht the database and the GPS model . It isnot a sampel of the search and what needs to be provided exactly in the memo.

Read the directions below.

Items to complete

This task requires you to utilize the GPS model to understand how to narrow the database. The initial map helps us practice the use of the database as well as identify key areas of interest related to experts and expertise. For this submission, create a word document in Memo format to Dr. Lipuma with the following items.

1. Your first step is to create a search of the NJIT database that includes Expert*, AND Communica*, AND Skill. These terms need to be ‘any field’. This will describe the general topic. Record the number of results in this search.

2. Add the limits of date range: 2020 to present, Peer-reviewed articles, available online. Record the total number of results for this search

3. On the left side is the filter of subject. Identify one of these particular subjects and provide an explanation of why you selected it as your area of focus. Within that chosen subject select an article you feel is most related to being an expert and for that article explain your reason for choosing it,

4. List the keywords for the selected article as given in the document itself. Explain the thesis of the article and how that relates back to expertise and being an effective expert. Save the PDF of the article and attach it to the post.

5. Provide an analysis of the quality and trustworthiness of the source. WHo are the authors and why are they able to be relied upon to discuss the chosen article’s topic? Where is the article published and what is the quality of that source? What value does the article content add and why can we trust it? what bias if any is present in the article? Be specific and detailed in the analysis so we see the rationale for answers with evidence about the source
