Citing specifics, explain how Hawthorne’s dark romanticist message is reflected in the allegory and in Hawthorne’s description of Goodman Brown’s uncertain perceptions at certain points in the story.

CASE STUDY

Henry David Thoreau’s positive, transcendentalist view of human nature in Walden contrasts sharply with Nathaniel Hawthorne’s perspective. In the chapter “Where I Lived and What I Lived for,”

Thoreau discusses humankind’s potential to become fully “awake,” describing the moral, intellectual, and spiritual aspects of being awake in a long passage that associates it with morning, and later suggesting practical benefits in his brief, punning comments on “sleepers.” Focusing upon the “morning” and the “sleeper” passages in the chapter (give discussion of each its own paragraph(s)), contrast Thoreau’s optimistic view of human nature and human possibilities with Hawthorne’s darker perspective in “Young Goodman Brown.” The story allegorically reflects the features of dark romanticism, representing in its symbolism the tendencies of the so-called “good man” to think and act in ways that subvert his own happiness.

Citing specifics, explain how Hawthorne’s dark romanticist message is reflected in the allegory and in Hawthorne’s description of Goodman Brown’s uncertain perceptions at certain points in the story.

In each section, you will make two critical points that reflect the focus above. Support each critical point with two direct quotations.

Develop a leadership development program based on the six organizational processes used to create a climate of development from the course readings.

Course’s final assignment

For the course’s final assignment. Develop a leadership development program based on the six organizational processes used to create a climate of development from the course readings. Incorporating current and relevant scholarly research into your paper is a requirement. When course readings are used, they must be cited using APA formatting and citation style.

Conduct some research on at least three of the concepts or skills that we have specifically learned about so far in class.

ASSIGNMENT 7

Conduct some research on at least three of the concepts or skills that we have specifically learned about so far in class. The paper must focus on the effectiveness of these skills; and must have scholarly references. Make sure to include a minimum of two references, a cover page, and a reference page. The paper must be a minimum of two pages double spaced and must be in APA format.

Three concept or skills in counseling
1. Empathy
2. Actively Listening
3. Non-Verbal Communication

Develop a taxonomy of your subject. Since you cannot directly observe your subject, you will have to use inductive and deductive reasoning, verification of traits and behaviors through readings, and analysis through inventories and scales (though technically, you are being hypothetical taking the scale on their behalf). Make sure you explain their actions, personality and behaviors through the lens of the theories you have learned in class.

Autobiography of Will smith

Throughout the semester you will be forming a personality study on one person that will serve as a case study throughout the semester. By the end of the semester you should have a final paper that is a completion of analysis of your subject’s personality that is based on the theoretical perspectives you will study throughout the course. You may choose a contemporary figure, historical figure in which there is context for you to derive your analysis. This means there must be published material about your subject.

Given the focus of the course on “normal” personality structure and development, the ideal subject would not necessarily be someone whose outstanding characteristic is some form of psychological disorder; on the other hand, several of the theories we will look at in this course do focus largely on the nature and origins of anxiety and maladjustment. The most fundamental criteria as you choose a subject would be that (a) the person should be of genuine interest to you, (b) there should be a good, book-length biography or autobiography available to serve as your primary source, and (c) your subject should be a complex person psychologically—i.e., someone about whom there are interesting questions to be addressed. The list of possible subjects (e.g., people in politics, the arts, entertainment, business, science, etc.) is practically endless—but do keep in mind the importance of starting with a book that does an effective job of revealing your subject’s complexities. Please note the role of this assignment in the overall structure of the course. Make sure that you have your subject’s story in mind prior to encountering many of the theoretical perspectives we will study in class, which will allow you to reflect on the connections as you encounter ideas from the various theories. You will be expected to use at least three biographical sources (which may be include articles and books) in your final paper. It is wise to choose a book as one of your sources as there is more complete detail about a given biographical subject in a book. This means that the process of selecting a subject is an important one and should be started immediately. Note also that you may need to purchase the biographical book—both because you don’t want to limit yourself to what’s available in the library, and because you’ll want to have the book in hand throughout the semester. Online booksellers are a great place to search and buy biographical books. It might also be helpful to browse at local bookstores.

To help you form your biographical study project, you need to complete a preliminary prospectus. This prospectus will be a part of your final grade for the project and should be completed by September 17, 2022. This prospectus should be at least two pages long. Summarize key characteristics of your subject’s personality and pose questions that you will be attempting to address in your theoretical analysis over the course of the semester. As you work through each theory, explore how you can apply this to your subject. Set up your theory intentions and for your prospectus, explore at least one theory. You can provide more detail on this first theory as you work through your paper, but having at least two theories should be helpful in planning your study project. That doesn't mean you need to have all of the details about the theories right now, just some basics so you have a good idea about the direction you taking based on the type of theories chosen. The textbook has theorists and their theories of personality for you to explore what the theories are.

Your final paper, due November 19, 2022, will be at least 10 pages in length (not including your title page or reference page), and will use multiple theoretical perspectives from this course to analyze your subject’s personality.

Expectations:

Develop a taxonomy of your subject. Since you cannot directly observe your subject, you will have to use inductive and deductive reasoning, verification of traits and behaviors through readings, and analysis through inventories and scales (though technically, you are being hypothetical taking the scale on their behalf). Make sure you explain their actions, personality and behaviors through the lens of the theories you have learned in class.

A good way to approach this would be to divide your paper into subheadings by theory as you relate the theory to your subject. A good rule would be to focus on five or six theories to complete your paper.

Paper should be in APA format, double spaced, font of 10 point or 12 point, (at least) ten pages, have a title page and reference page (not included in your page count total). You do not need an abstract but you do need a title page.

Create a visual representation of the problem you selected for the Unit 6 Addressing Client Needs Paper.

Intimate Partner Violence

Over the past several weeks, you have researched a problem and some local services that may help a client in need. In many human service professions, you may work directly with clients to offer help in resolving specific issues, however, you may also work on educating the local community about that issue.
It is important to understand what information is important to share with your community in the hopes of educating others about a common problem your clients may face.

Instructions:
In this assignment, you are being asked to create a visual representation of the problem you selected for the Unit 6 Addressing Client Needs Paper. You can be creative in making your infographic by using graphs and charts in Word or PowerPoint or using Piktochart or Canva. Whichever way you decide to create it, your visual representation must include the following:
• Description of the problem.
• Statistics about the problem.
• Underlying causes and impact of the problem.
• Description of the services clients may receive to resolve the problem.

Requirements:
• You can be creative with how you present the information.
• Incorporate all ideas into your own words.

Considering the widespread, but not universal, ratification of UNCLOS, could the provisions of UNCLOS regulating maritime zones and the capacity of islands to project maritime zones be considered customary international law? If so, are they opposable to Turkey?

International Law , Maritime Law

The 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) is the global treaty regulating States’ rights on the sea. To date, it has been ratified by 167 States plus the European Union. Amongst the States that have not yet ratified it there are the United States, Peru, Venezuela, Turkey, Syria, Israel, several Central Asia States, and a few micro States.

On 27 November 2020, Turkey and the Government of National Accord (GNA) of Libya (one of the two factions claiming to be the legitimate government of Libya and the one that is militarily supported by Turkey) signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of National Accord – State of Libya on delimitation of the maritime jurisdiction areas in the Mediterranean.

Under the Law of the Sea Convention (Art. 121.2) islands project all maritime jurisdictional zones, including the territorial sea, the exclusive economic zone and the continental shelf. As you can see from maps, all along the Mediterranean coast of Turkey there are Greek islands. The effect of the presence of these islands makes it so that Greece, relying on the provisions of UNCLOS, claims jurisdiction over most of the Aegean Sea and Eastern Mediterranean, hemming in Turkey.

Map 1

Map 2 below indicates the border between the Turkish and Libyan exclusive economic zones under the 27 November 2020 Memorandum of Understanding (red dotted line). As you can clearly see, Turkey and the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) claim areas of the Mediterranean that are claimed by Greece and also by Egypt.

Map 2

The conclusion of the Memorandum of Understanding drew immediate condemnation by the States in the region and the larger international community. According to the European Union, the accord infringes upon the sovereign rights of third States and does not comply with the United Nations Convention on Law of the Sea. Both Cyprus and Egypt dismissed the accord as illegal, while Greece regarded it as “void” and “geographically absurd”, because it ignored the presence of the Greek islands of Crete, Kasos, Karpathos, Kastellorizo and Rhodes between the Turkish–Libyan coasts.

You do not need to get in the intricacies of this dispute. All I want you to consider is the following: Turkey maintains that the Greek islands in proximity of the Turkish mainland sit on the Turkish continental shelf. Turkey maintains that Greece has no rights beyond the territorial waters of those islands (note that Greece claims a territorial sea in that region of only 6 nm, even though the UNCLOS says it can be up to 12 nm). Turkey insists that the continental shelf between the two countries should be delimited by taking into consideration only the Greek and the Turkish mainland, not their islands. That is the fair and just solution to the disputes caused by overlapping claims. However, that is not what the UNCLOS says.

Write a maximum 1,500 words essay answering the following three questions. If you need to, you are free to research and use facts from other sources. However, do not fall into the rabbit hole!

Can the provisions of UNCLOS be invoked against Turkey?
Considering the widespread, but not universal, ratification of UNCLOS, could the provisions of UNCLOS regulating maritime zones and the capacity of islands to project maritime zones be considered customary international law? If so, are they opposable to Turkey?
Can Turkey be considered a “persistent objector”, even though Turkey does not contest the application of the rules on maritime delimitation anywhere else in the world, including to its own islands in the Mediterranean and in the Black Sea, or to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus?UN

For the APT your group studied, were there identifiable harms to privacy or property? How are these harms linked to C-I-A? If not, what ethically significant harms could result from the scenario your group researched?

The Cybersecurity Threat Landscape

Advanced persistent threats (APTs) have been thrust into the spotlight due to their advanced tactics, techniques, procedures, and tools. These APTs are resourced unlike other types of cyber threat actors.

Your chief technology officer (CTO) has formed teams to each develop a detailed analysis and presentation of a specific APT, which she will assign to the team.

Review the APT document and respond to these questions in a 2 to 3-page eassy format

: Ethics in Cybersecurity

o Do you think the vulnerability(ies) exploited by the APT constitute an ethical failure by the defender? Why or why not?

o For the APT your group studied, were there identifiable harms to privacy or property? How are these harms linked to C-I-A? If not, what ethically significant harms could result from the scenario your group researched?

o For the APT your group studied, when the targeted organization identified the breach, was the disclosure made with transparency? Do you feel the organization acted ethically? Why or why not?
