Read the section “Temperament and Development” located on pages 418-428 in the textbook. Mandy and Jeff are parents of two-year-old inhibited Sam and three-year-old difficult Maria. Discuss how you would describe the children’s temperament and development to the parents. Include concepts of the roles of heredity and environment in the stability of temperament, the relationship of temperament to cognitive and social functioning and the goodness to fit model.
