Discuss the nature of the current database. What variables were analyzed?

This assignment is intended to help you learn how to apply statistical methods when analyzing operational data, evaluating the performance of current marketing strategies, and recommending actionable business decisions. This is an opportunity to build critical-thinking and problem-solving skills within the context of data analysis and interpretation. You’ll gain a first-hand understanding of how data analytics supports decision-making and adds value to an organization.

Scenario:

Pastas R Us, Inc. is a fast-casual restaurant chain specializing in noodle-based dishes, soups, and salads. Since its inception, the business development team has favored opening new restaurants in areas (within a 3-mile radius) that satisfy the following demographic conditions:

Median age between 25 – 45 years old
Household median income above national average
At least 15% college educated adult population

Last year, the marketing department rolled out a Loyalty Card strategy to increase sales. Under this program, customers present their Loyalty Card when paying for their orders and receive some free food after making 10 purchases.

The company has collected data from its 74 restaurants to track important variables such as average sales per customer, year-on-year sales growth, sales per sq. ft., Loyalty Card usage as a percentage of sales, and others. A key metric of financial performance in the restaurant industry is annual sales per sq. ft. For example, if a 1200 sq. ft. restaurant recorded $2 million in sales last year, then it sold $1,667 per sq. ft.

Executive management wants to know whether the current expansion criteria can be improved. They want to evaluate the effectiveness of the Loyalty Card marketing strategy and identify feasible, actionable opportunities for improvement. As a member of the analytics department, you’ve been assigned the responsibility of conducting a thorough statistical analysis of the company’s available database to answer executive management’s questions.

Report:

Write a 750-word statistical report that includes the following sections:

Section 1: Scope and descriptive statistics
Section 2: Analysis
Section 3: Recommendations and Implementation

Section 1 – Scope and descriptive statistics

State the report’s objective.
Discuss the nature of the current database. What variables were analyzed?
Summarize your descriptive statistics findings from Excel. Use a table and insert appropriate graphs.

Section 2 – Analysis

Using Excel, create scatter plots and display the regression equations for the following pairs of variables:
“BachDeg%” versus “Sales/SqFt”
“MedIncome” versus “Sales/SqFt”
“MedAge” versus “Sales/SqFt”
“LoyaltyCard(%)” versus “SalesGrowth(%)”
In your report, include the scatter plots. For each scatter plot, designate the type of relationship observed (increasing/positive, decreasing/negative, or no relationship) and determine what you can conclude from these relationships.

Section 3: Recommendations and implementation

Based on your findings above, assess which expansion criteria seem to be more effective.Could any expansion criterion be changed or eliminated? If so, which one and why?
Based on your findings above, does it appear as if the Loyalty Card is positively correlated with sales growth? Would you recommend changing this marketing strategy?
Based on your previous findings, recommend marketing positioning that targets a specific demographic. (Hint: Are younger people patronizing the restaurants more than older people?)
Indicate what information should be collected to track and evaluate the effectiveness of your recommendations. How can this data be collected? (Hint: Would you use survey/samples or census?)

Discuss how the programs and activities of the organization are or are not consistent with intervention and action strategies in community psychology.

The purpose of this assignment is for you to apply the knowledge that you acquire throughout the course to a real-world community problem, and become familiar with one specific organization that targets your chosen community problem. The paper requires you to THINK about what you are learning and APPLY it to a specific problem.

Your first tasks are to identify a community problem of interest to you and an organization that focuses on that problem. For example, if you chose HIV/AIDS as your problem, you could use The Minority AIDS Project (http://www.map-usa.org/html/greeting.html) for your organization. Then complete the following in 1,750-2,000 words.

Community Problem. Identify a community problem, include examples of the problem manifested; integrating material from online sources (e.g., magazines, newspapers) in order to bring the problem to life for the reader. You should also include statistics from a reputable source to support your claim that this is a problem that needs to be addressed. To help support your paper include at least two peer reviewed journal articles that support the topic.
Description of the Organization. Provide a brief overview of the organization with an emphasis on a description of the intervention and action approaches utilized by the organization.
Analysis of Approaches. Discuss how the programs and activities of the organization are or are not consistent with intervention and action strategies in community psychology. How could you describe the intervention in community psychology terms? In addition, use community psychology ideas to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the intervention strategies.
Action in your Community. Describe how you would replicate this program in your own community. How would you disseminate findings about the program to make others aware of the services? How would you educate the community for support of the program?
Use six to eight scholarly, peer-reviewed resources to support your explanations.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

How does the narrator come about the information in the story?

Consider the point of view of the narrator in The Iliad and how the point of view influences the story. How does the narrator come about the information in the story? How do we learn about the characters? How does this differ from modern (twenty-first century) storytelling?

Develop a plan to address the health need or how to extend a good practice to another community.

Special Populations
In this module you will learn about special populations. You will also do an extensive assessment of your community and develop a plan to address the health need or how to extend a good practice to another community.

Overview:

Special populations include: the elderly, children, disabled, or any person or group that is vulnerable. In this module we will review how the community nurse provides support for these populations.

The aging population in the United States is and will continue to grow as the “baby boomer” generation begins to enter into their seventies. Consider the impact of such a large number of people requiring care. This population often has more than one chronic condition. What are skilled nursing services? What is the Community Nurses’ role in case management? What other aspects of health care will this population need? How will this impact our health care system?

Who are the vulnerable “at risk”? At risk may include those who have physiologic, emotional, economic issues affecting their health or a combination of many complex personal and environmental challenges. It could be a nurse who is acutely ill with a new health issue and health care providers assume this person does not need discharge teaching. In other words, sometimes the vulnerable are not seen in plain sight.

Module QSEN SLOs, Learning Objectives and Activities:

This module’s focused learning objectives include the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will help you meet them.

These are the QSEN SLOs that will be addressed in this module:

Analyze and integrate data and information from multiple sources to make clinical judgments in community health nursing care. (EBP)
Communicate and collaborate within interdisciplinary teams in the community to improve outcomes for groups whose health status is at risk. (T/C)
Expand the role of the professional nurse to develop, implement, and evaluate culturally competent, evidence-based care for groups, communities, and populations. (PCC)
Implement a project to address the needs of identified groups and to evaluate project effectiveness in meeting identified health needs. (QI)
Explore the nurse’s role in maintaining the safety of the public related to potential epidemic situations. (S)
Utilize information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, and support evidence-based clinical decisions in community health nursing. (I)
Here are the module’s objectives. They are focused on helping you achieve the above SLOs.

By the end of this module’s work, you will:

Analyze and discuss a vulnerable population. Achieve by completing Learning Activities: II, III
Analyze solutions to address an identified community’s health need. Achieve by completing Learning Activities: II, III
Learning Activities:

I. Review the schedule

II. Do the assigned readings

III. Participate in Discussion Forum 4

Module 5 learning activities will allow for greater understanding of the role of community health nursing including vulnerable populations and problem solving.
