Select three theories and/or response models that are used when working with survivors of critical incidents and that you think are particularly valuable.

To understand effective service delivery in response to critical incidents, helping professionals must first understand theories of how individuals process crisis and models for responding to survivors. For example, being aware of the Childhood Sexual Abuse Accommodation Syndrome can help sexual trauma practitioners conceptualize the cognitive processing of sexual abuse from the perspective of the child or adult survivor (Summit, 1992). Other theories include the eco-systemic theory (the effects of crisis affect more than just the survivor), the constructivist self-development theory (each individual constructs the meaning of his or her own traumatic event), and the resilience theory (the ability to recover from crisis events). Models provide techniques for working with crisis survivors, including but not limited to Psychological First Aid and suicide prevention models. Familiarity with theories and models related to crisis and crisis intervention provides important foundational knowledge that informs the effective response to survivors.
For this Assignment, select three theories and/or response models that are used when working with survivors of critical incidents and that you think are particularly valuable. To complete this assignment use the resources from module 3.
Briefly describe each of the theories/models you selected.
For each, explain its value in helping individual(s) who have experienced or are experiencing crisis, trauma, or disaster. Be specific and provide examples to illustrate your points.

As a healthcare manager, reflect on how you think financial statement analysis and operating        indicator analysis would be useful.

  1. Reflect on the volatility of the market, and discuss how you could leverage your knowledge of healthcare financial management to increase productivity and financial stability of your organization (or an organization where you want to work).
  2. If you were tasked with starting a new healthcare clinic, would you lean toward using the cash or accrual method of accounting? Why? How would revenue recognition and expense-matching principles be related to your decision.
  3. As a healthcare manager, reflect on how you think financial statement analysis and operating        indicator analysis would be useful. What do you think are some of the problems or challenges inherent in financial statement analysis?
  4. Suppose an organization uses the activity-based costing (ABC) model. How do you think this model differs from traditional costing approaches? What do you see as advantages or disadvantages for this healthcare organization?
  5. Healthcare organizations strive to manage working capital in such a way that they can reliably cover their short-term expenses while also getting the best possible benefits from their capital. In managing working capital, healthcare organizations face some common challenges, as well as other challenges that are particular to the institution. Reflecting on your experience, what do you think the main capital management challenges would be in a facility that has a constant stream of revenue?
  6. Bring to mind a wide range of healthcare organizations, such as a long-term care facility, large for-profit hospital, a physicians’ practice, Veterans Affairs hospital, or a state-run clinic. Consider two types of organizations, and explain how you think the purposes or uses of a budget vary would vary for management according to the kind of healthcare organization.
  7. Reflect on a situation where a business did not take steps to prepare for unexpected cash flow emergencies. As the manager of a healthcare facility, what steps could you take to assess and minimize the riskiness of expected cash flows in capital budgeting analysis?
  8. Identify a task that you would need to perform in your current career or future career, and explain how you would apply the knowledge you have learned in this course to succeed at performing the task in a real-word scenario.

There are many situations in which we feel like we are going to experience a negative result no matter what we choose. Pseudo-listening is categorized as a negative listening style because the end results can leave others feeling disrespected and unappreciated, but I think we’ve all chosen to fake listen to avoid those exact results (making the other person feel disrespected and unappreciated). Do you think it’s okay to pseudo-listen sometimes? If so, explain and give an example. If not, how do you communicate to the other person that you can’t fully listen right now without hurting their feelings?
Under what circumstances is it OK to share information that someone has disclosed to you? Under what circumstances is it NOT OK to share the information?
