Write a paragraph that describes why your research topic is important.

Selecting Your Research Topic
Choose a research topic to use throughout this course. You will use this research topic as the foundation from which you will expand into the different elements of a research paper. This research topic will be the basis of your term paper and your presentation at the end of the term. Use the section headings below.
1. Background
Introduce your research topic by writing about your subject.
2. Significance
Write a paragraph that describes why your research topic is important.
3. Problem Statement
Write a paragraph or more that describes a problem within your topic that merits investigation.
The problem statement should be a minimum of 1 paragraph.
The problem statement should be clearly identified. Use a statement similar to:
The problem that this research will investigate is…
The problem statement must convey an issue that is easily identified as a “problem” by someone who reads this statement.

What are the most significant problems or challenges associated with current communications technology?

Technology and All-Hazards Planning and Response
A crisis or an emergency may be one thing to one person but a completely different set of circumstances to another person. Often, a president, governor, or mayor is in a position to declare a state of emergency. In this particular scenario, a high-pressure underground gasoline pipeline is running underneath a section of the city. For this assignment, you will discuss what information should be included in an assessment to determine the potential damage or likelihood that the pipeline will rupture and explode. A C3 or C4 command post is being preemptively established to address the situation should the pipeline explode.
Primary Task Response: Within the Discussion Board area, write 400–600 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas:
What types of equipment do you think should be included in the C3 or C4 facilityTechnology? Explain your reasoning.
How do you think the facility should be staffed?
Consider education, training, and the interoperability and compatibility of equipment and personnel.
What types of technology do you think are essential to the strategic planning phase of all-hazards planning and response? Why?
How should decisions be made regarding the allocation of limited technological resources? Why?
Would you consider communications technology to be the most important technology for response operations? Why or why not?
What are the most significant problems or challenges associated with current communications technology? Explain.
What do you recommend for alleviating those problems and overcoming those challenges? Explain.

Write a one to two (1-2) page double-spaced paper(s) discussing what you understood from the personal interactions between staff and patients in the Defining Hope video below.

– Students are required to write a one to two (1-2) page double-spaced paper(s) discussing what you understood from the personal interactions between staff and patients in the Defining Hope video below. Late submissions will result in a reduction of one (1) percentage point. Include insights you have picked up in class from the CLEAR model and discuss what you observed in the film. How well did the key healthcare providers connect with patients, their colleagues, listen to them, etc? Were there any examples where caregivers failed to give provide the respect that patients should have had? How might you have handled different scenarios if you had been the care provider? How might you have related to any emotional or spiritual concerns that patients or families may have had for example?
Here are some specifics to guide you:
– Abstract of the film’s plot
– Observations of four caregivers/patients
– What you took away from it
– The best example of excellent care
– Something not done so well
– Personal rating of the film in stars (*****) and why
I want to hear your thoughts and feelings and any ideas of what you might have done instead.

what companies and suppliers form the supply chain for the company’s products.

Here is the scenario:
You have an exciting new job as the Director of Production at a major candy and cookie company. Your job is to purchase the products necessary to create all of the tasty treats the company makes, including chocolate candies and peanut butter cookies. Basically, you decide what companies and suppliers form the supply chain for the company’s products.
The company you work for has been getting a lot of consumer complaints about the palm oil usage in their products. They know that other companies like Pepsi, Kroger, The Girl Scouts and even Starbucks have gone palm oil friendly, but no one really knows what that means at your company.
You have to create a report providing an explanation of what palm oil or orangutan friendly means, what organization establishes whether or not a company is designated as friendly, how they determine that status and what you need to look for when deciding which companies to work with.

What are the common needs, drivers, and motivators for the public and private sectors?

Within the Discussion Board area, write 400–600 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.
What are the common needs, drivers, and motivators for the public and private sectors?
How does the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA’s) commitment to whole community promote public–private partnerships?

What are the main characteristics of the Demand and Supply of the firm or industry of your choice?

This is an individual paper done little by little every week in activities called sprints. Other students will act as peer reviewers of your sprints in weeks 1 and 3. As an author you will benefit from the comments received in weeks 1 and 3 from your peers and will be able to send a better paper at the end of the term in week 4. As a peer reviewer you will use critical thinking skills to help other authors to improve their papers.

Academic papers need to have a research question. There are only two types of research question for this assignment and you should select just ONE of them:

  • What are the main characteristics of the Demand and Supply of the firm or industry of your choice?
  • What are the main characteristics of the market structure of the firm or industry of your choice?

The list of firms to choose from is the following:

  • Amazon, BoeingCostco, Facebook, Gillette, Hachette, J.C. Penney, McDonalds, Priceline, Schick, Virgin Atlantic, and Wal-Mart.

All these firms appear as business cases in your textbook and the NU Library has a site for us to search for materials related to these firms (see Library Resources in this document).

The paper should focus on answering your research question in no more than 2 pages, quality rather than quantity. I expect students to apply and use key concepts, research about the firm using academic and business journals, and provide evidence that supports main findings.

Objectives

At the end of this assignment students will:

  • Interpret the market conditions or market structures of real businesses (CLO3 or CLO1)
  • Employ marginal analysis to consumer and production decisions (CLO2, CLO6, CLO7)
  • Illustrate the concept of elasticity (CLO4)
  • Practice writing, analytical and peer review skills.

Paper Structure

The structure follows the sections of a short paper. The paper should be no more than 2 pages (single spaced, Times New Roman, font 12) without including the pages for the title, references and appendices. It contains the following distinguishable sections:

Abstract.  In a paragraph explain the argument of the paper, its logic and the concepts that are illustrated in it.

Introduction. The introduction should be just one paragraph long. It should set the relevance of the topic and finish with the main question you want to answer. The introduction must end with the research question paper in explicit question format.

Argument and Analysis of Evidence. The microeconomic analysis section should be the longest in the paper and it is the most important in terms of learning objectives.  Do not include

Explain the way(s) in which the proposed solution is consistent with the organization or community culture and resources

PICOT Question
Are 30- to 50-year-old women (P) who have high blood pressure (I) compared with those without high blood pressure (C) at increased risk for an acute myocardial infarction (O) during the first year after hysterectomy (T)?
This PICOT it is NOT about blood pressure medications , It is about if women with high blood pressure are at more risk to develop and acute myocardial infarction than those without it. And of course we are talking about woman between 30—50 and during the first year after hysterectomy.
Another thing all references must be five years or less
Write a paper of 500-600 words (not including the title page and reference page) paper for your proposed evidence-based practice project solution. Address the following criteria:
1. Proposed Solution: (a) Describe the proposed solution (or intervention) for the problem and the way(s) in which it is consistent with current evidence. Heavily reference and provide substantial evidence for your solution or intervention. (b) Consider if the intervention may be unrealistic in your setting, too costly, or there is a lack of appropriate training available to deliver the intervention. If the intervention is unrealistic, you may need to go back and make changes to your PICOT before continuing.
2. Organization Culture: Explain the way(s) in which the proposed solution is consistent with the organization or community culture and resources.
3. Expected Outcomes: Explain the expected outcomes of the project. The outcomes should flow from the PICOT.
4. Method to Achieve Outcomes: Develop an outline of how the outcomes will be achieved. List any specific barriers that will need to be assessed and eliminated. Make sure to mention any assumptions or limitations which may need to be addressed.
5. Outcome Impact: Describe the impact the outcomes will have on one or all of the following indicators: quality care improvement, patient-centered quality care, efficiency of processes, environmental changes, and/or professional expertise.
