Assignment: Evidence-Based Practice and the Quadruple Aim
Healthcare organizations continually seek to optimize healthcare performance. For years, this approach was a three-pronged one known as the Triple Aim, with efforts focused on improved population health, enhanced patient experience, and lower healthcare costs.
More recently, this approach has evolved to a Quadruple Aim by including a focus on improving the work life of healthcare providers. Each of these measures are impacted by decisions made at the organizational level, and organizations have increasingly turned to EBP to inform and justify these decisions.
To Prepare:
Read the articles by Sikka, Morath, & Leape (2015); Crabtree, Brennan, Davis, & Coyle (2016); and Kim et al. (2016) provided in the Resources.
Reflect on how EBP might impact (or not impact) the Quadruple Aim in healthcare.
Consider the impact that EBP may have on factors impacting these quadruple aim elements, such as preventable medical errors or healthcare delivery.
To Complete:
Write a brief analysis (no longer than 2 pages) of the connection between EBP and the Quadruple Aim.
Your analysis should address how EBP might (or might not) help reach the Quadruple Aim, including each of the four measures of:
Patient experience
Population health
Costs
Work life of healthcare providers
Prepare a 1000-word minimum paper (excluding title page and references), that addresses the following:
• Construct a flow diagram of the registration process at your university.
• What areas would you investigate further in order to identify problems?
• Use the DMAIC cycle to outline how you could solve one of the problems you identified in your flow diagram.

Respond to one of these questions in a brief essay between 250-300 words (50 marks):
MacDonald employs elements of expressionism in her play. Identify two of these elements and evaluate their effect and relative success.
Discuss the function and significance of Constance’s green ink and the eventual gold pen.
Act III, Scene vi finds Constance meeting up with the ghost. Discuss the use of verbal wit, pun and play on words in this scene, giving clear examples on each.
Discuss the function and effect of having the actors play three or four roles.
Part B (relates to Othello and/or Goodnight Desdemona)
Write an essay between 500-600 words on one of the following topics (100 marks):
There is a significant change in the play Othello when the characters move from Venice to Cyprus. Discuss with specific references to the play.
In both Othello and in Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare’s characters believe in fate and destiny. Can similar kinds of belief be said to happen in Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet)? Compare MacDonald’s use of this belief with this belief in Othello.

This assignment relates to Unit 5 on Shakespeare’s Othello. The assignment is worth 15 percent of your final grade.
Please note that Assignment 4 also offers an opportunity to explore aspects of Shakespeare’s Othello. Choose one of the following topics and write an essay of 600 to 800 words:
Consider the use of oral imagery in the play and discuss its thematic significance and dramatic purposes.
Discuss the significance and dramatic purposes of Roderigo.
Discuss the significance and dramatic purposes of the soliloquy of Iago, Act II, scene i.
Discuss whether there is any justification for the idea that Emilia is not as innocent as she seems in regards to Iago’s schemes.
Option 2: Create and Curate Your Own Art Museum
For this paper, you will select and curate 5–10 works of art to include in your own art museum. Use the text and online sources to help you find these works of art. This assignment is an alternative option for visiting a museum or art gallery. After researching, answer the following questions by writing a 2–3 page report, 750–800 words, that describes your experience.
Select 5–10 works of art from at least five artists from different time periods discussed in the text, the 18th century to modern times.
Provide a brief description of each piece and a picture if possible, explaining why you chose each piece.
Describe where and how you would display each piece, whether individually or grouped together.
Describe your role as museum founder and curator. Give your museum a name and a location.
Use at least the class text as a reference. Additional sources are fine but not necessary unless required by your content. Your report should include connections you make between things observed in your activity and things learned in the course and text.
Paper must be typed, double-spaced, using Times New Roman font, 12 points, with one-inch margins on all sides. Formatting of citations and references must follow Strayer Writing Standards (SWS) [PDF]. Check with your professor for any additional instructions. (Note: Students can find Strayer Writing Standards materials located in the Additional Resources section of their Student Center within their course shell for reference.)
