Describe the difference between a nursing practice problem and a medical practice problem.

PICOT is utilized by the health care community to identify and study a nursing or medical practice problem. Consequently, PICOT examples that may provide insight into the use of the PICOT process, may not be relevant to nursing practice as they are based on a medical practice problem.

Describe the difference between a nursing practice problem and a medical practice problem. Provide one example of each. Discuss why is it important to ensure your PICOT is based on a nursing practice problem.

What are the major methods used in the study and the model system?

Write a synopsis following the guidelines below about the paper attached. Must answer all 4 bulleted questions.
To aid in your reviewing a paper and subsequent writing of the synopsis, we have put together a few suggestions on what to think about when reading/writing. This is not comprehensive, just something to help you get started.
1. On what previous data/studies is this study based that brought about the reason for this study? Understanding the background should help you in stating the hypothesis of the study. Must answer all 4 questions below.
2. Why do you think this paper is important? What is the impact of the findings/how did it bring about a new idea to the field? Think about why the instructor selected this paper for you to read. You should end the synopsis with a statement of impact/how the paper advanced the field.
3. What are the major methods used in the study and the model system? Why did they use that model system? Could they have used another approach or model system?
4. What are the study conclusions/findings? Did the authors “deliver” on these conclusions, or not? Give reasons why/why not you think they proved their points. If not, what could they have done better, or added as an experiment?
There are a few “traps” that students often are caught in that you should avoid. First, students sometimes just “rehash” what was done in the study. “The authors first did A and they found B. They next did C, etc.” Try not to just only describe the studies performed and the results. The goal of the synopsis is to try and get you to think beyond just what was done. Second, often students will try to look for every little thing that was wrong with the study. Realize that no paper is perfect. If there is a issue that could impact how the authors interpreted of an experiment, that is important to note, but try not to be so hypercritical that it blocks your understanding of the major findings.
****** Finally, the synopsis should be one page, single-spaced with either moderate (1-inch top/bottom, 0.75-inch sides) or narrow (0.5 inch on all sides) margins. A one page, double-spaced synopsis will not be accepted. Also, please keep text between 10-12 point font and a little over one page in length is fine, but do not go overboard. Maximum of two pages.

Predict your findings, by writing hypotheses as statements.

  1.  Your team will share your research from your logs and REFINE and collaborate to co-construct the first part of the actual report.  The order of the questions in the log will guide you through the structure of the report, although your team may decide on a different approach.  The final information should be reworked so that it is not directly copied from sources and can be read and understood by all.  All information should be cited, and include a reference list. In APA seven style.

NOTE: When writing the scientific names for microorganism for the first time, the full name goes in italics and is underlined e.g. Escherichia coli

Only the first name is capitalised.

When the name is used more than once, it can be shortened to just the first initial capitalised followed by a full stop, and the whole of the second name.  e.g.  E. coli

  1. Once you have collaborated on the background information you need to relate this to the specific purpose of the study, by writing a paragraph such as this at the end: “The purpose of this research is to determine the effectiveness of hand hygiene, in particular by comparing washing hands with soap and water, and using hand sanitising gels”.
  2. As a team, you need to follow this up by justifying the importance of this research.
  3. Finally, predict your findings, by writing hypotheses as statements. E.g. The plates inoculated with hands …… will show …..

Determine the number of students who are in a particular professor’s classes, how many of those students have graduated, and if any of them have had their work published.

In the following study, three different universities have been tracking a select group of professors over the course of their employment at that university to determine the number of students who are in a particular professor’s classes, how many of those students have graduated, and if any of them have had their work published. The attached Excel file Probabilities are the totals for each of the professors at the three different universities that participated in the study.
The purpose of this study is to find the probabilities of graduation and publication for the students in the different professors’ courses. While a causal relationship may not be found between a professor and student graduation or publication, we need to rank the professors based on the different probabilities found using the data sets as described below.
Prepare a report (see below) with your ranking of the professors based on the probabilities and conditional probabilities as well as the analysis of each university. Include the following seven (7) items in table format which is provided in the Probabilities file to support your ranking.
NOTE: Be sure to retain and report five (5) decimal places for each of your probabilities. Do not convert your computed probabilities to percentages, as we are only interested in probabilities here.
The overall probability of students graduating at each of the three universities.
The overall probability of students having a publication at each of the three universities.
The overall probability of students having a publication, given that they graduated at each of the three universities.
The probability of a student graduating for each professor.
The probability of a student having a publication for each professor.
The probability of a student having a publication, given that they graduated for each professor.
Rank the professors within each university for each of the probabilities in 4-6. Then find the sum of the ranks and determine an overall ranking for each professor.
Be sure to critically analyze the above calculations in your body paragraphs, explaining how you found each type of probability and then the results that you obtained. Be sure to also explain your criteria for ranking in steps 4-7, being sure to defend why you chose that particular ranking method, as your way might not be the typical method.
Your paper should be 2-3 pages in length (not counting the title page and references page) and cite and integrate at least one credible outside source. The CSU Global Library is a great place to find resources. Your textbook is a credible resource.
Include a title page, introduction, body, conclusion, and a reference page.
The introduction should describe or summarize the topic or problem. It might discuss the general applications of the topic or it might introduce the unique terminology associated with the topic.
The body of your paper should address the questions posed in the problem. Explain how you approached and answered the question or solved the problem, and, for each question, show all steps involved. Be sure this is in paragraph format, not numbered answers like a homework assignment.
The conclusion should summarize your thoughts about what you have determined from your analysis in completing the assignment. Nothing new should be introduced in the conclusion that was not previously discussed in the body paragraphs.
Include any tables of data or calculations, calculated values, and/or graphs referenced in the paper.

Write 2-3 sentences that lists 3 reasons that support your position that the raven is real or imaginary.

For this essay, you will craft a 3-paragraph response that answers the following question: Is the Raven in Edgar Allan’s Poe’s, “The Raven,” real or imaginary? Use evidence from the poem and your own thinking to support your answer. This essay should explore how the different elements of the poem (setting, mood, imagery, symbolism) and the speaker’s word choice all contribute to the existence or nonexistence of the poem.Write 2-3 sentences that lists 3 reasons that support your position that the raven is real or imaginary.
Paragraph 2: Evidence (6-8 sentences long)

In this paragraph, you will discuss each of your reasons Use textual evidence (quotes) to support each of the reason you believe the raven is real or imaginary.
You should have 1-2 sentences for each reason and include textual evidence supporting your position.

Describe how using an ANOVA was more advantageous than using multiple t tests to compare your independent variable on the outcome.

Statistics Project, Part 3

Assignment ContentTop of Form

As you get closer to the final project in Week 6, you should have a better idea of the role of statistics in research. This week, you will calculate a one-way ANOVA for the independent groups. Reading and interpreting the output correctly is highly important. Most people who read research articles never see the actual output or data; they read the results statements by the researcher, which is why your summary must be accurate.

Consider your hypothesis statements you created in Part 2.

Calculate a one-way ANOVA, including a Tukey’s HSD for the data from the Happiness and Engagement Dataset.

Write a 125-275 word summary of your interpretation of the results of the ANOVA, and describe how using an ANOVA was more advantageous than using multiple t tests to compare your independent variable on the outcome. Copy and paste your Microsoft® Excel® output below the summary.

Format your summary according to APA format.

Submit your summary, including the Microsoft® Excel® output to the assignment.
