Stages of Group development

a). Identify how your group progressed through the stages of group development. Identify the highest stage of group development your group reached.  (Note, adjourning should not be discussed as you are still working as a team.)

  • The highest stage that our group reached is performing .
  • Forming stage –we were all still trying to get to know each other because this is an online course and we don’t know each others personality then Josh stepped in and is always on top of every assignment we had. We got to know each other and trusted more.
  • Storming stage – everyone got along .we had to split parts of the case study and everyone was working on their own and whenever we needed help josh and vivan are always there to help.
  • Norming stage –
  • Performing stage – every one understands everyone

  1. Did you fall back at any time during the project? Why or why not? OR Did you move ahead of schedule at any time during the project? Why or why not?

I think that if anyone is not able to do his or her part, other available member will pick up the work and josh is always on top of it. And Vivian is always on top of the case study format and if theres anything wrong with the spelling

c). What were the implications of the team’s development on your project?

– there is team work

– we were having a hard time convening because people were late to reply

d). Discuss the impact of Groupthink symptoms on your team

– vulnaribility

– attitudes of my team , common goals, clear direction encourage difference in opinion, team trust collaboration

– even though it takes a while for my group mates to respond , they get the work done.

In what ways does Fletcher Reede exhibit communication incompetence?

Scene Description:

Fletcher Reede is a fast-talking attorney—and a habitual liar. He has missed the concept of identity management to justify dishonesty in his personal and business affairs. Reede’s 5-year-old son wishes that his father cannot tell a lie for just one day, and miraculously the wish comes true. In this scene, Reede’s boss calls him into the boardroom meeting to speak to the director of the partnership committee. Because of his son’s wish, Reede begins saying whatever comes to mind. His unedited thoughts and feelings lead to rude and insulting comments about everyone in the room. After a few moments of uncertainty and silence, the head of the partnership committee breaks out in laughter, thinking it is a joke, and encourages Reede to continue. The director says, “He loves a good roast!” (Warning: this scene contains some coarse language.)

Discussion Questions:

  1. In what ways does Fletcher Reede exhibit communication incompetence?
  2. How could/sahould Reede have expressed himself at the meeting? Would it be unethical for him not to share his honest thoughts and feelings?
  3. Reede’s insensitive disclosures at this meeting received laughter and endorsement. What would be a more likely reaction in a real-life scenario?
  4. What does this scene suggest about the famous maxim, “Honesty is always the best policy”?

Explain how you plan to involve Fiona’s parents in meeting her goals.

Because lessons do not stop when a student leaves the classroom, purposeful collaboration with other teachers, staff, and families can help reinforce and expand the student’s knowledge and skills. Whenever possible, teachers should try to engage families in ways that encourage them to have their child practice the math skills at home. Having both the teacher and parents/guardians on the same page helps to support the student.
Read the case study to inform the assignment.
Case Study: Fiona
Grade: 9th
Age: 14
It is the beginning of the second semester, and Fiona is having a great deal of difficulty in her mainstream algebra class. Prior to this year, she was receiving instruction in the resource setting. At her eighth grade transition IEP meeting, her parents expressed their wishes that Fiona be in the mainstream algebra class, despite her special education teacher explaining that low reading comprehension negatively affects the understanding of math concepts. Fiona understands basic concepts of algebra but has not mastered the skills needed to move to the higher-level concepts her class is now working on. Currently, her math performance has been measured two years below grade level and her reading performance one year below grade level. Fiona’s general education math teacher has spoken with her parents about the possible need for additional support, and her parents have agreed to help at home, as they do not want her being pulled out for resource at this time.
The following goals have been identified by the special education teacher collaborating with the general education math teacher for Fiona:
Simplify addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division equations [e.g., (2x + 6) + (4x + 7) = 6x + 13].
Solve expressions with variables (e.g., 3x = -24).
Write and solve the algebraic equation in a real-life word problem.
Part 1: Strategies
As the special education teacher, select two researched-based instructional strategies that could be used to help Fiona meet her identified goals.
Instructional strategies should include:
Explicitly teaching related vocabulary
The use of the concrete-representational-abstract strategies
Graphic organizers
Mnemonic devices
The use of assistive technology
In 250-500 words, summarize the recommended instructional strategies, rationalizing their appropriateness for Fiona’s goals and ability to help motivate Fiona to meet her goals. Include specific tips for implementation.
Part 2: 3 Day Unit Plan
Design a comprehensive mathematics unit plan based on the goals identified for Fiona. Outline three sequenced lesson plans, using the “3 Day Unit Plan Template.”
Your unit plan must include:
Appropriate augmentative and alternative communication systems and assistive technology to make the lesson content more accessible.
Integration of both formative and summative assessments to demonstrate mastery and support the generalization of learning for the student.
Integration of an appropriate ELA writing standard related to Fiona’s third identified goal.
Part 3: Home Connection
In 250-500 words, explain how you plan to involve Fiona’s parents in meeting her goals. Include a specific at-home activity to help in her continued success.

Option #1: Patient Survey
As a healthcare administrator, it is important to be able to evaluate the effectiveness of your staff’s ability to follow rules like HIPAA and HITECH, as well as to facilitate patient autonomy.

Create a survey using the consumer perspective that could be administered to patients to review their experience at your facility in a patient-centered initiative, focusing on privacy. Be sure to include questions that will measure the safety of their personal information, procedures used to keep information private, and specific items that are required by HIPAA. Be sure to look at the survey from a patient perspective.

Your survey should include 10-15 questions, and include a paragraph for each question which specifies:

How you would use information gained from that question to improve healthcare in your facility, and
Any ethical implications of the questions you provided.
While the format can be in a survey format, with paragraphs explaining the necessity of the questions and how the feedback will be helpful to your facility, remember to cite your sources.

Your paper should be 3-4 pages in length. Be sure to include a cover page and references formatted according to the APA standard. Be sure to discuss and reference concepts taken from the assigned textbook reading and relevant research. You must include a minimum of three credible, academic or professional references beyond the text or other course materials.

Case Study Review 1 Instructions-Week 3

Respond to the following case scenario by applying topics and theories learned from the current module week:

Scenario-A Closed System, Rational Model:

Jim Beam fighting citation for bathroom-break policy

The Jim Beam bourbon-making plant in Bullitt County is fighting a state citation criticizing its policy on bathroom breaks for employees. Since October, line workers at the plant have been permitted to use the restroom only during lunch and two other times during the day – one before lunch and one after. They also are allowed one unscheduled toilet break per day, and can be disciplined for taking more, starting with a warning and escalating to dismissal after six incidents.

The old policy allowed workers to rotate off the line for short, unscheduled breaks

throughout the day, with no set number. The company changed the policy after it concluded that workers were taking advantage of the liberal break policy. The Labor Cabinet, in a citation issued in November, said Jim Beam is violating a federal labor law requiring employers to provide restroom facilities to employees. Jim Beam is appealing the citation. The cabinet did not propose a fine.

A hearing on the citation is scheduled next week in Bardstown. The distiller has filed a

memo with the Labor Cabinet, saying it “observed, documented and analyzed break habits of the employees” and consulted with a urologist to make sure that the new policy would be reasonable.” The company said people with medical conditions get more leeway. But the United Food and Commercial Workers union that represents the approximately 100 production-line

workers said the urologist determined the breaks were not motivated by need, but most

likely by “smoking habits.”

The union said 45 workers have been disciplined, some workers have begun wearing

protective undergarments and others have urinated on themselves because they were afraid to leave the line. “It’s embarrassing to be a 36-year-old woman and have to justify your need to go to the bathroom,” said Krystal Ditto, who said she has been disciplined five times and is one unscheduled bathroom visit away from losing her job. “Once you get the feeling you have to go, you sit there looking at the clock and see you have an hour to go, and it intensifies. I’m not going to sit there and be miserable.” The company is holding its ground. “We feel our system provides reasonable breaks for all employees, and we’re looking forward to explaining our position in detail next week at the hearing,” said Stephanie Moritz, director of publications for Jim Beam, based in Deerfield, Ill.

Jo Anne Kelley, the union local’s president, has worked at the Jim Beam plant for 34

years. She said the policy is degrading and that company officials have told some workers that they should “practice” going to the bathroom every two hours at home on the weekends to put themselves on a schedule. “Basically, we’re being asked to train our bladders and other organs to meet their needs, not ours,” Kelley said. “Your bodily functions don’t have a time clock.” In its appeal, Jim Beam said its break policy “effectively balances the medical needs of

employees with the company’s need to maintain a productive workforce.” (Adopted from Harvard Business Review, 2019).
