Analyze values and theories of Ethical and Social Responsibility (Learning Outcome 3) in one’s own social and academic practice.

Instructions
Students will complete 5 page paper that analyzes values and theories of Ethical and Social Responsibility (Learning Outcome 3) in one’s own social and academic practice. This essay will require APA/MLA format with two sources and four citations.
The paper above is different from others that we have done this term. It is different in the following two ways:
1) #1 material. You must look back into your life and find a story (either about yourself or someone influential in your life) where an ethical or social responsibility lesson was learned.
2) This story requires citations. You must research the theme (value) that will be highlighted in your story. You are required to find two sources of information (articles, books) about this value. You are required to include four citations in your paper.

Why is this story a good example of naturalistic fiction?

“To Build a Fire” by Jack London
Directions: Respond to the following questions with brief short paragraph responses. Send through the Blackboard assignment portal.
Brief summary of the story… Summarize the major action that takes place from the beginning right through the middle and conclusion. What is the major action that takes place in the story?
Describe the major characters and style of narration.
Why is this story a good example of naturalistic fiction? Make connections to the following list of characteristics
NATURALISM
• A portrait of life as rigidly determined by powerful forces beyond human control. These forces could be social, environmental, economic, technological etc. The individual is presented as weak and powerless
• A brutal form of realism
• Influenced by Darwin’s 1859 theory of evolution as well as the 19th and 20th century industrial revolution….life became faster and more brutal…machines….the age of automation…..skyscrapers…. big business and multinational corporations…survival of the fittest….the strong survive, the weak perish!
• The literature is criticized for being pessimistic and void of spirituality as it tends to present humans as just another animal species trying to survive on a daily basis in a cold, cruel world!
Present one two-three sentence direct quotation that supports this as a work of naturalism and briefly defend your selection

Describe, discuss, and support your discussion, was the rapid expansion of government in the Progressive Era “government over-reach” or “responsible government.”

TASK DESCRIPTIONASSESSMENT 2Assessment Component 2–Report(70%)XLG is a cleaning product company located in the eastern part of Britain which produces two cleaning agents, chemical X and Y. Chemical X instantly cleans stains off any surfaceand can be used on upholstery fabrics and kitchen surfaces, while chemical Y cleans and shines all kinds of floor surfaces. XLG operates in a highly competitive environment; however, over the years they have maintained their market leading position due tothe patent secured against famaQ; a superior cleaning agent, meaning it can’t be copied by other competitors within the industry. XLG has opened several stores across the UK and sells their products online as well, they host a lot of demonstrative shows in order to lure customers to their products. During the second quarter of the year starting March 2020, the corona virus broke out and a nationwide lock down was enforced by the UK government to combat the pandemic, thus forcing XLG to move all its sales online. PART AFind below extracts of the management information for that period:Total units sold: 1600Material price variance:£27000 FAssume the 20/21 accounting year for XLG starts on the 1/12/19.Notes

1.Sales and Contribution:The budgeted total sales for both chemicals X and Ywas 1190 with an equal split of 595 between both of them. Actual sales volume for chemical X was 850 and 750 for chemical Y, standard sales price was £35 per unit for chemical X and £30 per unit for chemical Y. The actual sales price achieved in the second quarter were £45 for chemical X and £37 for chemical Y. The standard marginfor chemical X was £25per unit and £20per unit for chemical Y. one of the reasons for the increased selling price was due to a significant increase in demand for cleaning products as most people became more hygiene conscious in light of the pandemic.

2.Material price:The sole reason for the variance was an increase in the price of famaQ which is their superior cleaning ingredientwith an original standard price of £2.50 per unit. Each unit of chemical X and Y requires 1 unit of famaQ; however, due to the lockdown and restriction on international travel, famaQ which is produced in Brazil had to be imported using air transport which is more expensive in comparison to sea transport, thereby resulting in an increased unit price of £4.50 per unit. XLG actually paid £3.70 per unit for famaQ.Required:Calculate the following for the second quarter, showing all workings clearly:

(i)The sales price variance and sales volume contribution variance.(12marks)

(ii)The material price planning variance and material price operational variance.(8marks)

(iii)Given the change in operations, critically analyse the merits and demerits of using variances in assessing managers performance. (1000 words, 30 marks

Discuss the significance of the cognitive revolution.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNHBMFCzznE&feature=youtu.be

In your initial post, consider the following prompts about cognitivism, and discuss each, basing your posture on this week’s readings, your past experiences, and your past knowledge:

Discuss the significance of the cognitive revolution.

Explain information processing.

Analyze the behaviorist versus cognitivist definition of learning: a change in observational behavior or a change in one’s schemata.

Which theory do you believe is more accurate? Why? (Support with citations.)

Discuss if your personal schemata has changed throughout your life. (This could be about learning, but also about other domains such as love, honesty, hard work, loyalty, etc.)

Also in your discussion, respond to the following questions specifically associated to After Watching This, Your Brain Will not be the Same (Links to an external site.):

How do Dr. Boyd’s suggestions support (or oppose) what you believe to be true about learning?

Boyd suggests three changes occur in our brains and help support learning: chemical, structural, and functional; how do these affect persons who suffer from different types of brain damage (e.g., stroke)?

If the primary driver of change in your brain is your behavior, what is Dr. Boyd’s primary suggestion for increasing our success in learning?

Your initial post should be between 350 and 400 words.

Create a plan to implement case management at your workplace.

Activity 1

Case Management Implementation Plan

Create a plan to implement case management at your workplace.  What is your recommended plan for the use of case managers in your organization for patients with your chosen chronic illness?  Identify people within your organization who are chronic illness or would support your plan.  Whose support do you need to get your plan implemented?  Identify your goals – what do you hope to accomplish with your case management plan?

Often, starting with our goals helps – it’s a backwards design.  As we think about a case management plan we are proposing for our workplace, what do we want to accomplish?  Remember – goals should be measurable.  For example, if the chosen chronic disease is diabetes, one goal may be:

  • Clients will have decreased incidences of hyperglycemia requiring hospitalization

Once we determine what we want to accomplish, we can begin to construct our plan to achieve the goal.  To achieve this goal, our plan may include providing education in a manner the client can understand (being sensitive to cultural needs), access to phone support, or inputting glucose readings into their electronic health record for documentation the case manager can evaluate and use to reach out to the client.

To put this plan in action, whose support would we need?  Primary Care Physicians, Utilization Review personnel, and the Chief Financial Officer would all have an interest in optimizing patient health and reducing costs.

Reading and Resources

Read Ferrier, G. D., & Trivitt, J. S. (2013). Incorporating quality into the measurement of hospital efficiency: A double DEA approach. Journal of Productivity Analysis, 40(3), 337-355. https://search.proquest.com/docview/1448800469?accountid=169658

Search the site for US Department of Health and Human Services “Hospital Compare” and use the interactive database to compare and contrast health plans, hospitals, etc. How might you use this site with patients as a case manager?

Additional Instructions:

  • All submissions should have a title page and reference page.
  • Utilize a minimum of two scholarly resources.
  • Adhere to grammar, spelling and punctuation criteria.
  • Adhere to APA compliance guidelines.

What is good writing, and when have you read it or produced it?

For this first assignment, I’d like you to write a 500-750 word letter to me (“Dear Professor Wallace”). In that letter, answer three questions:

What is good writing, and when have you read it or produced it? Don’t just think school writing here—think personal writing, writing you’ve done on the job, stories and poems you’ve written, social media posts, and so on. If you’re combining symbols to communicate with yourself or others, it counts as writing.
What role will writing play in your future? Again, think broadly and widely here. What role will writing play in your college career? In your major? In the profession(s) you’re considering? In your personal and civic life?
How can this class help get you there? For this final question, you’ll want to interact with Liz Wardle’s chapter, “You Can Learn to Write in General.” Liz Wardle’s chapter is located in your Canvas module. As these questions suggest, your own life, experiences, aspirations, and career goals will supply the bulk of the material for this essay. However, in order to answer the second question, you’ll also need to do a bit of research. At a minimum, you’ll want to search online for resources that describe the kinds of writing that engineers, business administrators, nurses, psychologists, supply chain managers, microbiologists, anthropologists, or [insert-name-of-your-major-here] do on a regular basis. Purdue University’s OWL (online writing lab) website has a lot of resources to this end. And to answer the third question, you’ll of course need to engage with Wardle’s chapter.
