3. Overview of assignment: The role of this individual essay is to provide an in-depth discussion of a contemporary topic, in the context of the global hospitality industry. Although the topics will vary, the essay should aim to:
_ Communicate and illustrate a range of current and well referenced perspectives on the chosen topic, where appropriate using practical examples from the international Hospitality industry
_ Encourage the formation of a logical and well founded opinion and perspectives among the readership (as opposed to uniformed speculation and uninformed generalisations)
_ Demonstrate a creative and logical approach to the subject material and, where appropriate, consider best practice from other industries, countries and cultures;
_ Prioritise aspects of the topic and evaluate a selective amount of material which is pertinent to the topic

You should present empirical evidence from several peer reviewed journal articles, and/or books to highlight strengths and weaknesses of each side of the issue under discussion. Influenza is a virus that can be easily spread from person to person and kills thousands of people each year. Healthcare workers are at risk of exposing themselves to infectious diseases from patients and material and therefore can also potentially transmit these diseases to others. Preventing and controlling the spread of vaccine preventable diseases in the health care setting is vital to ensure proper infection control practices should an outbreak occur. As such, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) strongly recommend vaccination of health care workers.

You are a public health researcher. You have been asked to identify a vaccine-preventable disease and create a 10- to 12-slide presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint on a research design.
