Create a hypothesis (original hypothesis) on the relationship between the two variables.

The purpose of this assignment is comparing an original hypothesis with a partial result when controlling for a second independent variable. The paper should be written in an essay style and use both the quantitative data (i.e. the regression results) and the existing literature on the topic. This paper is an opportunity to incorporate quantitative data into your research paper and support your argument by quantitative data.
Step 1: Select two variables from the dataset that you want to know about their relationship (make sure both variables are on interval level). The variables must be different from the ones that you used for Assignment II. Create a hypothesis (original hypothesis) on the relationship between the two variables.
Step 2: Conduct a literature review of 5 to 6 scholarly sources about your original hypothesis. The literature should include journal articles, book chapters, published research/census, or research reports.
Step 3: Examine the relationship between the two variables by carrying out a Bivariate Regression. Explain the finding by interpreting the R-square, the Y inception, the Slope, and the Beta of your bivariate output table.
Step 4: Add a second Independent Variable as your control variable (make sure the new independent variable is either interval, correctly coded ordinal, or dichotomous nominal variable). Carry out a Multivariate Regression. Report the results and explain how the control variable affects the original hypothesis. Explain your reasons by interpreting the R-square, the Y inception, the Slope, and the Beta in the Multivariate Regression output table.
Structure: the assignment should be organized in four sections divided by subtitles as follows:
1. Introduction (1-2 pages): introduce the topic, your research question, your original hypothesis and its components (independent, control, and dependent variables), explain the purpose of your research (i.e. testing the original hypothesis by controlling for a second factor). Also explain why you think controlling for a second factor is important in your analysis. Introduce also your methodology (i.e. the literature review and the quantitative method you use for developing the hypothesis). (15%)

2. Literature review and discussions (3-4 pages): read 5 to 6 sources on the original hypothesis and report your finding about the existing knowledge on the issue (30%)

3. Quantitative Research (no page limit): Step 1: carry out a bivariate regression and copy and paste the “Model Summary” and “Coefficients” output tables. Explain what the results tell you about the relationship between the two variables, the strength and direction of the relationship, and its statistical significance. Explain these issues by interpreting the relevant statistics including the R-square, the Y inception, the Slope, the Beta, and the significance). Step 2: Carry out a multivariate regression by adding your second independent variable that you want to control for. Copy and paste the “Model Summary” and “Coefficients” output tables. Explain what the new results tell you about the original hypothesis: how the addition of a third variable affects the original hypothesis? Explain it by comparing the relevant statistics of the two results (i.e. the Adjusted R-square, the Y inception, the Slope, the Beta, and the significance). 40%

4. Conclusion (1-2 pages): Conclude your finding about the original hypothesis and the impact of the control variable on the original relationship. Explain what the comparison of the two results tells you about the importance of multiple regression and controlling for a second factor? Does this finding support or challenge the existing literature on the topic? Outline your main findings from both bivariate and multivariate regression results.

What should you tell the members of the team concerning how you want your informants run on the street?

You and your partner are running a string of informants in a major street crimes unit that includes narcotics, weapons, and organized crime. One informant is a beautiful young woman who was caught with some marijuana and is now working with your team, identifying drug dealers. She has been flirting with every male member of the team, and even with a female member on one occasion. You have a second informant who is very friendly and brings coffee and pastries to meetings with the team. You note that he is being treated by the team as a member of the team. Finally, a third informant who is a paid informant is a dynamo. He brings six or seven issues at a time for the team to work on. He gets paid by his production and seizures in the cases he comes up with. You notice he is starting to overwhelm the team with potential targets of criminal activity.

Address the following:
In terms of ethics, what are the 3 informants in the scenario jeopardizing? Explain.
How should the team deal with the 3 informants based on their behavior? Explain and fully justify your argument.
What should you tell the members of the team concerning how you want your informants run on the street? Why do you think this will be effective? Explain.

What other aspects could be misinterpreted based on current technologies?

In an investigation being conducted by the state crime lab, senior investigators have called your company, AB Investigative Services, to provide advice concerning the interception of wire, electronic, and oral communications. The current individual suspected to be the source of the crime used a library computer to send and receive e-mails. The librarian walked up on the e-mail account while the suspect was away and found incriminating information in an open e-mail, which was reported to law enforcement.

Post your advice to the senior investigators addressing the following:
Define how the forensic investigator could interpret one aspect of one of the following statutes in relation to the given scenario using:
18 U.S.C. §§ 2510-22 Wire and Electronic Communications Interception and Interception of Oral Communications and,
18 U.S.C. §§ 3121-27 Pen Registers and Trap and Trace Devices
In your opinion, how can the interpretation be misconstrued or incorrectly interpreted by a forensic investigator?
Respond to other students’ posts, by addressing the following:
Defend how the First and Fourth Amendments apply or do not apply to the email in this case.
What other aspects could be misinterpreted based on current technologies?

What is considered legal or illegal under the guidelines of the First and Fourth Amendments in relation to the identity theft investigation

In preparation for a court appearance, the federal law enforcement agency wants to ensure proper forensic processes and techniques are used in a computer crime case involving identify theft.

When challenging the admissibility of the digital evidence, the defense examiner will evaluate the authentication and chain of custody techniques used. The federal law enforcement agency would like your company, AB Investigative Services (ABIS), to identify in a report the possible authentication and chain of custody techniques acceptable in the investigative process, including issues relating to First and Fourth Amendment privacy issues with respect to computer-related technologies.

Using the library, Internet, or any other credible materials, provide the following in your report to the federal law enforcement agency:

Begin the report with a one-page overview of the forensics process and the steps taken by an examiner related to identity theft and computer crime.
Provide 2 pages identifying the following:
2 recommended examples of authentication acceptable in the investigative process of identity theft
2 recommended examples of chain of custody techniques of digital evidence
Provide 2 pages explaining the following:
What is considered legal or illegal under the guidelines of the First and Fourth Amendments in relation to the identity theft investigation
Cite your sources using APA style.
