Discussion 2.1: Managing Diversity – Advertising and Gender Stereotypes

Participate in this discussion to explore stereotyping and the impact it may have on the company’s diversity strategy.

On the Discussion Forum, post a 300-word response to the following question(s)/prompt(s); include at least one APA-formatted citation/reference to a source from this lesson:

Discussion Question

The European Parliament recently voted 504 to 110 to scold companies for “sexual stereotyping” in marketing their products. One reporter noted, “The lawmakers’ ire has many targets, from a print ad for Dolce & Gabbana (which has a woman in spike heels pinned to the ground and surrounded by sweaty men in tight jeans) to Mr. Clean, whose muscular physique might imply that only a strong man is powerful enough.” The concern, according to the committee report, is that stereotyping in such ads can “straightjacket women, men, girls, and boys by restricting individuals to predetermined and artificial roles that are often degrading, humiliating, and dumbed-down for both sexes.”

Do you believe that gender stereotyping in marketing leads to discrimination? Could this have an effect on how employees perceive the company? Do you think companies should consider how they market their products as part of their diversity efforts? Explain.

Respond to at least two classmates’ posts on this subject, or a reply from your professor if there are not yet two student posts in the forum.

Managing Diversity Discussion Question 4-2 from Gomez-Mejia, L. R., Balkin, D. B., & Cardy, R. L. (2016). Managing human resources (8th ed., p. 144). Boston: Pearson Education.

Respond to Question 4-2 on page 144 to share your understanding of how stereotyping can impact a corporation.

Also explain how social media platform(s) can be of use to a bible school.

You can also add chart to have an affect on the audience (the board of the church); keep in mind its a grievance letter and also a letter on what the SBS has to offer as a school and ministry.

Some of the grievances from the SBS Taskforce may overlap, but try to emphasize important things….

Demonstrate an understanding of English co-ownership law;

JUDGMENT QUESTION Judgment: Imagine that the events in Bernard v Josephs [1982] Ch 391 took place many years later than they did in reality: so that the parties purchased their home in 2009 and that the case heard in 2019 in the High Court. Write the leading judgment in the Court of Appeal, using modern conventions of judgment-writing and applying today’s law of co-ownership. Students are advised to consult Feminist Judgments, ed. R.Hunter, C. McGlynn and E. Rackley (Oxford: Hart Publishing, 2010, available in an on-line version in the library) for examples of alternative judgments, and a useful discussion in the introductory chapters about the challenges involved in writing them.
Judgment: not more than 4 pages which must be formatted in accordance with the School of Law’s Assessed Work Rules (otherwise penalties will apply). NB Only the formatting need comply with the Assessed Work Rules, not the content. The judgment should look like the judgment part of a case report, not an essay.
Specific assessment criteria for this exercise: • Accurate exposition of relevant law • Correct application to facts • Appreciation of social context • Modern terminology • Correct judgment-writing conventions and style (as in modern law reports) • A judgment – not simply advice, but a decision. Learning Outcomes: Students will •Demonstrate an understanding of English co-ownership law; • Apply law to given facts, showing an appreciation of the interplay of facts and law in their social context; • Write like a judge using modern English judgment-writing conventions.

Explain the data analytic approach to tackle the business problem.

Paper Title Heading: Formulating Strategic Management Decisions
This final project is based on the following Harvard Business case study:
Khachatryan, D. (2014). Amarcord Incorporated: Combating money laundering using data analytics. Harvard Business Case Study. Retrieved from https://hbsp.harvard.edu/tu/54c35ef0
Assume your client accepted your urgent business proposal to design a data-driven approach to effectively accomplish the goal of fraud detection in financial institutions. Data analytics for fraud detection in financial institutions is the strategic management vision of Amarcord Inc.’s Chief Compliance Officer. Your work in teams is based on the average or aggregate monthly incoming wire transfer of $500,000 for a swimwear chain, considered highly unusual by business analysts for that business chain. In other words, it is impossible for a business chain of that size to earn such high monthly revenue.
This project is not a presentation as the case indicates; it will be submitted as a written team report.
After reading and analyzing the case, address the following:
• Identify and address the business problem and explain the need for a data analytic solution.
• Explain the data analytic approach to tackle the business problem.
• Explain the nature and structure of the received data (i.e., the average monthly revenue of $500,000) and how data inconsistencies can be resolved.
• To what extent is competitive intelligence and ethical standards relevant to your analysis and solution(s)?
• How does cultural diversity impact the problem identification and or analysis of this case?
• Elaborate on all the undertaken modeling and forecasting strategies.
• Emphasize and summarize key findings as well as observations and recommend further steps that your client should undertake in the data analysis realm which could potentially lead to another engagement with your team.
• Include how the company could work with various stakeholders currently and in the future; include desired outcomes.
• Address how the organization’s culture influenced the situation within the case and give recommendations for culture improvements and your team’s ideas about changes that support innovation and ethical conduct.
• Deliver your project report to provide clear and thorough answers that both technical and non-technical audiences will understand.
Your well written paper should meet the following requirements:
• Be at least eight pages in length, plus exhibits or illustrations
• Be divided into the following sections:
• Identification of business problem and evaluation of the need for a data analytic solution.
• Explanation of the data analytic approach to tackle the business problem.
• Explanation of the nature and structure of the received data (i.e., the average monthly revenue of $500,000) and how data inconsistencies can be resolved. Do you agree or disagree with the business analysts that the aggregate monthly revenue of swimwear is three times higher than the industry average? Justify your position.
• Evaluation of all the modeling and forecasting strategies undertaken as brainstorming solutions and so forth.
• Summary of key findings as well as observations and recommended further steps that your client should undertake in the data-analytic realm, which could potentially lead to another engagement with your team.
• Deliver your project report to provide clear and thorough answers that are both technical and non-technical audiences will understand.
• Support your project with 12 peer-reviewed articles.
• Be formatted according to the standard APA format
• Include a title page, introduction, conclusion, and references page.
Your well-written paper should meet the following requirements:
***Include a title page (include running head on first page heading, section headers, introduction, conclusion, and references page. ***

Identify and communicate key aspects of the biology underlying an infectious disease

The final project for this course will ask you to explore both the scientific and the social aspects of an infectious disease of your choice in one cohesive project, drawing connections between the scientific and social aspects.
SPECIFICS FOR FINAL PROJECT
With Pre-Projects 1 and 2, you were able to gain experience writing about these subjects and an idea of what we are looking for in your writing. With the final project, you can put these skills and knowledge to use and will have the chance to expand on an infectious disease you find interesting.
As in Pre-project 1, you are asked to characterize the structure of your pathogen of choice as related to its pathogenesis, describe clinical features of infection and give an appropriate epidemiological background for your pathogen of choice. As with Pre-project 2, you are asked to describe one particular social aspect that influences the spread of the infectious disease caused by your pathogen of choice.
While Pre-projects 1 and 2 were separate pieces, written about distinct infectious diseases, the final project should tell one cohesive story. The scientific aspects, particularly the epidemiological information you share, should provide relevant background and context to understand the impact of social aspect you focus on. An informative title, introduction and conclusion will all be important to help tie the story together.
Learning Outcomes:
• Identify and communicate key aspects of the biology underlying an infectious disease
• Recognize and communicate how a social aspect can lead to a disease’s spread, or its impact on society
• Determine reputable sources of evidence and be able to cite them
• Communicate concisely within a word limit
• Assess the strengths and weaknesses of your peers’ submissions and provide concrete suggestions for how they can improve
Word limit: no more than 625 words.
References
You should include a list of all the references that you use. You should have at least four references, all of which should be from reputable sources. You may use Nature style for your reference list, or select another scientific journal’s formatting style if you prefer. For more information on how to format in the Nature style, see:
https://www.citethisforme.com/guides/nature/
In-text” citations are not necessary for your Final Project. We suggest you use a concise formatting style (like Nature style) because references will be included in your final word count.
Pathogen Selection
You must choose a different pathogen to write about for each of the three project components (Pre-Project 1, Pre-Project 2, and the Final Project). For example, you cannot write about SARS-CoV-2 for both Pre-Project 1 and the Final Project.
You can either choose a pathogen of your own, or choose from the list below. You may choose to discuss social factors that impact the epidemiology or contributed to an outbreak of the disease caused by that pathogen, or that or the impacts that the infectious disease caused by that pathogen has had on a society.
Name of the pathogen that I chose is Clostridium tetani SARS-CoV-2 (Tetanus)
Also, the word limit is no more than 625 including citation. Therefore with the citation it has to be no more than 625. Also, I will include my pre-project1 and pre-project2 in order to see what I talked about. Finally please refer to the rubric uploaded for further details. Include title, intro and conclusion. Nature style is required for this paper, there is a link on how to do so.

Write (not counting the selected passage) in which you analyze—not summarize—the significance of that selection.

First, you should select a brief passage from Toni Morrison’s “The Site of Memory.”Preview the document Place that passage at the top of your response. Next, you should write (not counting the selected passage) in which you analyze—not summarize—the significance of that selection. This means that instead of merely retelling the chosen work, this response will focus in on the effects or the meaning of the piece through analytical exploration.

Your response might address why that specific passage is important, how it sheds light on the rest of the text, or how it impacts the way we should read and engage with other writings this semester.
